She was first mentioned by the Risky Brothers at the end of the Thriller Bark Arc when comparing her legendary beauty to the beauty of mermaids. Following her disqualification from the abolishment of the Seven Warlords due to the sins of Crocodile and Donquixote Doflamingo, Hancock was once again deemed as a criminal, fugitive and threat to the World Government as well not only had her bounty reinstated, but increased it tremendously too. She has a bounty of 1,659,000,000 berries, having been raised from 80,000,000 berries. This makes her one of the most wanted and dangerous female pirates (besides Big Mom and Nico Robin), as well having the 15th highest overall known bounty of any pirate and having the second highest bounty of female pirates (after Big Mom). Hancock is a very complex woman. At first glance, she appears to be selfish, pompous, spoiled and used to having her own way. She can also act arrogant and cruel, usually justifying her less-than-admirable actions with her unmatched beauty, causing her to think that she can get away with anything because the world will forgive her (and save for the handful able to resist she is largely successful in this approach, with gleeful suitors of both genders happily forgiving her every transgression). She also made it seem that she did not think much of the Kuja tribe either as she commented to Elder Nyon that she did not care if the island was destroyed or not, since everyone would forgive her anyway because she is beautiful. For her culture, it was believed that the most beautiful is the strongest of all. Thus, her unparalleled beauty is equated to her strength and is usually the meaning behind her large claims of forgiveness for beauty. Because of her beauty and strength, she is used to seeing men and women, young and old alike, regardless of race, fall instantly in love and lust after her. As a result, people often forgive her instantly whenever she acts cutely while apologizing or after being reminded of her beauty. However, when Luffy came along and displayed complete immunity to her charms, she initially felt that she could not bear the existence of someone completely invulnerable to her powers, and would collapse dramatically whenever insulted. Though this feeling gradually eroded away, as she now loves Luffy despite his immunity or rather loves him more because of it, along with his attribute of viewing everyone equal, thus not judging her for her past as a slave - which is generally looked down upon - as well as his selflessness in protecting the Kujas who helped him, then ensuring her and her sisters' secrets aren't exposed to Amazon Lily, and his fearless declaration of disdain for the Celestial Dragons, including the ones that had caused suffering to her and her sisters. Hancock also willing to obey every orders that Luffy gives her just so she will strengthen her love for him as well she can never disobey any orders Luffy gives her due to her fiercely love for him. After getting a hug from Luffy by giving him the key to Ace's Seastone cuffs, Hancock increased her love for Luffy even further when she desired to marry Luffy. Each time Luffy calls out to her name, Hancock blushed even more as well she declared that she can "die happily" before she faints. Hancock has a hard time looking at Luffy as well she collapsed from too much heart fluttering whenever she looks at Luffy's eyes. Even after the two year time-skip, Hancock continues to be in love with Luffy as much as before, despite the latter openly rejecting multiple wedding proposals from her due to his pursuit for the One Piece and becoming the Pirate King. She is still determined to become Luffy's wife no matter what. Hancock's love for Luffy is so powerful that it passed down to her clone, S-Snake when the Seraphim behaves just like the real Hancock when having her love for Luffy inside of the Seraphim making the "authority chip" to be rendered useless meaning that not even Vegapunk himself or the Five Elders would able to control S-Snake so long as Luffy is around and order the Seraphim just like Hancock, although Vegapunk didn't program S-Snake to act like the real Hancock. Anyone who hurts Luffy, Hancock will become an extremely angry when she make them suffer pain as they did to her beloved Luffy. Her love for Luffy is unconditionally when Hancock doesn't even care about Luffy's heritage such as being the son of Dragon (who she refers the World's Worst Criminal as the "devil") and grandson of Garp (who Hancock refer to the legendary Marine Hero as "grandfather"). While Hancock was effortlessly capable of seduction due to her overwhelming beauty and confidence, her knowledge of actual relationships is incredibly naïve, and essentially child-like. Luffy's habit of misremembering names caused him to call her "Hammock," numerous times, but upon his correct use of "Hancock," she interpreted it as a marriage proposal, which to her instantly meant they were already married; she would go on to keep tally of each subsequent time that he used her correct name, being elated each time. Yet later upon receiving Luffy's gratitude, Hancock decided that meant they were engaged, even though - as Lady Nyon sarcastically corrects her - that would be a reversal from the marriage Hancock imagined they had. Thus, showing her understanding of romance was surprisingly ignorant. Mainly exclusive to the anime, Hancock became prone to fantasies about a romance with Luffy, which often cast him comically with a different art style, as a shojo manga love interest. While thinly veiling it as simply conversation, Hancock wished to learn more about Luffy, which eventually covered his crew; upon learning of Nami and Robin, she immediately thought they were romantic rivals, and became despondent on the thought of being discarded in favour of them. However, her resolve was so strong that she dismissed her feelings of jealousy, feeling confident that she and she alone would win Luffy's heart as well she will never give up on Luffy due to her love for Luffy is too powerful. Even after Luffy leaves to travel the New World with his crew, Hancock continues to pine for him, still loving him deeply; evidently, and to the chagrin of Lady Nyon, Hancock would sigh aloud about her wish to be wed to Luffy at least once a day. Due to her traumatic past, negative worldview, and narcissism she built as a defense mechanism, Hancock refused to be sympathetic to anyone, except her sisters, Marigold and Sandersonia. However, after Luffy opened her heart, she became capable of empathy for others beyond her sisters; while still largely focused on Luffy, she was able to understand his grief at losing Ace, and felt regret for being unable to do more, even though she already had did as much as she could have possibly done. Similarly, she became a moderately more compassionate leader to the Kuja, changing their fear and respect for her to just respect. Ever since she lost her title as a Warlord as well her home was invaded by both the Marines and Blackbeard, Hancock finally made her decision of leaving Amazon Lily in her quest to reunite with Luffy because she missed him, as well as Hancock still intending to marry Luffy although it is unknown of Hancock is aware of Luffy's rise as one of the Four Emperors now that both Big Mom and Kaido are gone. Hancock nonetheless needs Luffy's help to protect her and her people from the World Government. It was revealed the reason for Hancock's lies and attitude towards life was that because of her horrible past, she did not want to ever show weakness again to anyone. She harboured a great fear of getting close to anyone, other than her own sisters, and would even go as far to deceive all of the other Kujas. This caused her surrogate mother, Elder Nyon, to fear that Hancock had or will eventually truly turned as cold as ice. It wasn't until Hancock confessed everything to Luffy that she finally showed emotions, breaking down in tears after reliving her painful memories and finding someone who she could share her locked away emotions and burdens with, without being frown against. She was also heartened when Luffy told them not to force themselves to tell him their story if it was too painful. Deep down, Hancock is a rather-sensitive and vulnerable woman who is afraid and concerned about how other people (especially the other Kuja) might react to the truth of the shameful past that she and her sisters share. She is also much more soft and compassionate towards others when she opens up. That part of her was only first shown for the first time in several years in front of Monkey D. Luffy since then, she has befriended and even fallen in love with Luffy, even agreeing to venture to the land of her suffering, from her days of a slave, at his request for his brother. Hancock has also shown to be very sly and crafty when the situation demands it. This was particularly evident when she aided Monkey D. Luffy into discreetly breaking through Impel Down's outer defenses, as well as manipulating the great prison warden, Magellan, to her whims before relaying a secret message to Luffy's brother Ace, whom Luffy was trying to rescue. She has also proven to be a very skilled liar who is excellent at fabricating stories, and her confidence leads her to minimize if not outright negate the potential consequences of her actions. An example of this is when she takes advantage of her beauty in Floor 6 of Impel that harbours the world's worst prisoners and turned them mad and lustful. It made them disrespect Magellan which in turn starting killing the impertinent inmates. This caused enough havoc for her to speak with Ace freely without anyone noticing. Few days later after she left her home due to her no longer as a Warlord, Hancock will disguise herself with a black hooded cloak while she will not wear her iconic snake earrings, to concealing her appearance that no one, not even the marines or pirates, would recognize her when she is on her way to her reunion with Luffy without getting any needless attentions. She was able to easily feign a confident demeanor without any hints of trepidation when Vice Admiral Momonga suspected that she was hiding something underneath her cloak. This façade duped him into believing that she was innocent after she gave him permission to search her which he rejected. After being hounded by derogatory and lecherous comments by men and women alike for years, she was unperturbed by the rudeness of the worst criminals of level 6 Impel Down as she delivered her message to Ace. Luffy is the only one whom has continuously shattered her previously thought impervious façade. She was completely unfazed when Blackbeard was strangling her, as she absolutely refused to give him even a hint of fear or submissiveness while shown her disgust towards Teach for being fat and gross as well his dirty personality. Her conqueror's spirit was shown when she openly declared she won’t bow down to either the Marines or Blackbeard, and welcomed them to kill her before she would ever be another's captive. She also used her love for Luffy as strength, as she harshly rejected Blackbeard's crude invitations and threats, since she declared only Luffy is worthy of touching her, while she (much like Luffy) developed an immensely hatred towards Blackbeard as well considered the Emperor to be her mortal enemy due to his responsibility in enabling Ace's death, which caused Luffy the greatest grief, thus Blackbeard became his arch-nemesis, and Hancock's mortal enemy as well; she hates Blackbeard worse than other men - barring Celestial Dragons - for causing such heart-breaking suffering to her beloved. Hancock also shown her disgust towards Blackbeard of not only is he fat and gross but also his despicable personality. After the Blackbeard Pirates and Marines retreated, Hancock is shown worried that she is not safe on Amazon Lily anymore so long as she stays including she will endanger her sisters (Sandersonia and Marigold), her adoptive mother (Gloriosa), and the rest of the Kuja Tribe due to the Marines' persistence. Without any choice, Hancock resolved herself to take full responsibility by leaving Amazon Lily under the protection of both Rayleigh and Shakky (one of her predecessors) for her reunion with Monkey D. Luffy (who Hancock always loves) just so she and the Kujas will be safe and for Hancock to avoid from getting captured by the World Government, due to Luffy's status as one of the Four Emperors now that both Big Mom and Kaido are gone.
