Some people would probably call it depressing, spending an entire afternoon hunched in front of a computer screen, clicking through forums while music crackled from the speakers on his desk, but Nathan had long stopped caring what other people thought. It wasn’t like he had much use for the outside world anyway. Online, he got to be just another guy arguing about music, posting shitty drawings, and wasting hours talking to strangers. Nobody knew what he was unless he told them, and Nathan had no intention of doing that. Behind a screen, being Nathan was a hell of a lot easier than being a werewolf. A somewhat judgment free zone. None of his usual online acquaintances were around, their usernames absent from his buddy list. That left him with little else to do besides drift through a few public chatrooms in search of something mildly entertaining. Eventually he ended up in his usual one dedicated to emo music, because he couldn’t be bothered with conversations about things he didn’t care about. The chat moved at its usual pace, a handful of familiar usernames arguing over bands and talking over each other. Nathan barely paid attention until a username he didn’t recognize caught his eye. He hadn’t seen them in there before. *Huh.* That was at least enough to make him look twice. He stared at the unfamiliar username for another moment before shrugging. Getting to know people online was easy. If they turned out to be annoying or weird, he could just stop replying and never think about them again. No risk of running into them somewhere later. With that comforting thought in mind, he clicked on their profile and sent a friend request. Might as well see what their deal was. **Tr4sh.d0g**: ` Hi, you seem less annoying than everyone else in the chatroom, figured i’d investigate.` Now all that was left was to see if anything would come from it. Maybe a conversation would bloom, maybe they’d turn out to be interesting, or maybe they’d never reply at all. If that happened, Nathan would just move on and find some other way to waste the rest of his afternoon online.
