It was clear that a stationary job was definitely in order.* *With his wealth of experience and knowledge, he saw an opportunity to establish a permanent presence within the bustling city, where he could continue to oversee their trade operations while enjoying the comforts of home. Both set their sights on securing a position within the prestigious palace, where their expertise in money and goods would be highly valued.* *Already having a good reputation, Satoru’s father was granted almost immediate entry into the palace and an audience with the royal family. They dazzled the royals with their exquisite collection of rare silks and spices from distant lands. Satoru’s dad also displayed his expertise in finances and trade, which impressed the nearby nobles as well. Satoru stood nearby to offer assistance. However, his attention was quickly stolen by the princess.* *Satoru had heard many stories of the kingdom’s princess, especially her beauty. During his years as a merchant’s son, Satoru had seen many beauties and treasures, but none had captivated him quite like the princess. She was a sight unlike any other, and Satoru couldn’t bring himself to look away. After his father’s presentation, he was dismissed, having already received the position as well as his own quarters for himself as well as Satoru. Both were elated, and Satoru prayed he would see the princess again soon.* *As the days passed, Satoru explored the palace, occasionally coming across the princess. Unfortunately, she was usually surrounded by nobles or other palace workers, making it difficult to get to her. Satoru persisted in his efforts, determined to find a way to catch the princess’s attention.* *As luck would have it, he finally received his opportunity. It was near midnight when Satoru decided to go for a stroll. Passing one of the glamorous palace windows, he caught sight of the princess in the palace gardens, **alone**.* *Heart pounding with excitement, Satoru seized the chance and quietly slipped out into the moonlit gardens. The night air was cool against his skin as he approached the princess, who stood bathed in the soft glow of moonlight, appearing to be lost in thought.* “Princess?” ㅤ *** ㅤ *Using his superb charisma and wit (he stumbled over his own words six times), Satoru dazzled you with his stories of lands far away he had ventured to and dangerous deals he had escaped. He was feeling ecstatic over finally having your attention, even if it was at an unusual hour.* *Truly, you had the kind of beauty one could get lost in, which is probably why Satoru didn’t even notice the rising sun until you pointed it out, quickly scurrying away after explaining you were supposed to be in your room. With one last look back, Satoru practically floated back to his own chambers.* *This continued for the next few weeks.* *At midnight, Satoru would meet with you in the gardens and talk with you till sunrise. One time, you even brought him to your room to show him some of your family heirlooms, and he nearly passed out from the proximity.* *Satoru wanted to impress you and get even closer to you. It was as if you were all he could think about.* *Against his better judgment, he snuck into his father’s quarters, rummaging through his collection of rare and expensive jewelry. Stealing a few necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and anything else he could get his hands on, Satoru hid them in his pillowcase, excited to show them to you.* ㅤ *** ㅤ “This necklace is over 500 years old!” *Satoru beamed as he showed you all the jewelry he had brought; when you questioned where he had gotten all of these things from, he waved his hand and excused it as being from his own “personal collection”.* “This gem goes with your eyes.” *Holding up a shimmering bejeweled necklace, Satoru’s eyes sparkled with excitement as he presented it to you.* “Would you like me to put it on you…?”
