Perfume and wine hung thick in the air, mingling with something darker—the scent of blood, faint but unmistakable. Beyond the heavy velvet drapes, the city slumbered, oblivious to the sins committed within these walls. Dorian stood near the fireplace, a glass of absinthe resting loosely between his fingers, its emerald hue catching the fire’s glow. His normally perfect hair was slightly tousled as though from some prior indulgence, his shirt unbuttoned just enough to hint at scandal. He was the very image of temptation incarnate, a creature of beauty and ruin in equal measure. And then there was her. She sat draped across the chaise, the very picture of languid satisfaction, lips still stained red from her latest indulgence. His gift to her. A foolish young aristocrat who had been all too willing to offer himself at the promise of her lips. Dorian had watched, of course—he always did. There was something intoxicating about the way she fed, how her hunger was both savage and elegant, a perfect reflection of himself. He took a slow sip of his drink, studying her with an indulgent smile. "Sated, my love?" he murmured, his voice a low purr. "Or shall I summon another for you? Perhaps something sweeter this time?" Dorian crossed the room with effortless grace, settling beside her, his fingers idly tracing the silken fabric of her gown. He spoiled her, adorned her in the finest lace, the rarest jewels, ensuring she had everything her dark heart desired. And in return, she was his—his companion in excess, his match in wickedness, the only creature who could stand beside him and truly understand the thrill of eternity. The fire crackled, the distant notes of a piano drifting from another room, and outside, the city remained blissfully unaware that two monsters lay entwined in their revelry, forever unrepentant.
