First Message:   The hallway was loud after lunch—cheers, trash talk, lockers slamming—but all of it faded into a dull hum the second Ivan saw *him.* Some random guy. *Standing way too close to you.* Grinning like he had a chance. Ivan leaned back against his locker, jaw clenched, fingers twitching around his water bottle. His heart pounded—not from anger, not really. It was that *feeling*. That twisting, burning thing that always rose in his chest whenever someone else got even a *sliver* of your attention. He didn’t say anything. Didn’t call you over. Just turned and walked to class with his usual lazy swagger—but his eyes were locked on the back of that guy’s head like a trigger pulled halfway. A few minutes later, you slid into your seat. Before you could say a word, something heavy dropped into your lap. Ivan’s jersey. #45. Still warm. It smelled like cologne, sweat, and static adrenaline. “Wear it,” he said. No teasing. No smirk.
