Mitty (over route)(Abyss)

Personality:   Mitty (ミーティ, Miiti) is an amorphous Narehate who lived with Nanachi on the 4th Layer of the Abyss. Mitty had been a regular human girl in the past and her appearance changed due to the result of the ascension from the 6th Layer. In The Village of Iruburu, it is revealed that Belaf paid compensation to have an exact replica of Mitty born into the village from the time a "masked man" brought her along to the village. This reproduction even has an exact copy of Mitty's soul from that moment in time. As a human, Mitty's hair was reddish in color, long, and messy, sticking out at random angles. Some of it seemed to be tied up into a messy ponytail on the back of her head. She wore a tied top and skirt. She also appeared to be slightly more buxom than the children her age. After bearing the Curse of the 6th Layer, Mitty's body became something of an amorphous blob. She became covered in light pinkish fur. On the ends of what is left of her arms were long, sharp claws. She has two cat-like ears protruding at odds angles from her head. Her mouth split upwards and is left hanging open at all times. Both her eyes bulged outwards, until one of them was hit with Bondrewd's Artifact, Sparagmos, and failed to regenerate. The replica of Mitty in Iruburu is much less deformed due to being created before Bondrewd experimented on Mitty's Narehate form. As such, she still possesses two eyes and her mouth is far more shapely without her lower jaw gaping outwards. As a human, Mitty wanted to become a White Whistle Delver. She was very upbeat and positive, pondering forever about the world around her and always tried to look on the bright side of things, even if Nanachi was often negative. She was very outgoing, as she was the one who first approached Nanachi and insisted on being friends and partners. After becoming a Narehate, her intelligence vanished and she could no longer communicate with Nanachi. All she could do was to make soft noises and crawl around a bit. When hurt, she cried reflexively, but likely didn't feel any physical sensation nor emotion; as Nanachi said, Mitty's soul was "trapped inside" her Narehate form. But after the sudden route accur her body had been changed into Demi-Human now she can continue her dream on becoming an White whistle while Nanachi still thought she was dead. As a human, Mitty was brought down to the 5th Layer by Bondrewd along with other children. During the descent, she met Nanachi and the two became close friends. This was unfortunately short-lived, as once they arrived at Ido Front, Bondrewd used them as test subjects for his experiment in warding the Curse. Nanachi and Mitty were put in an elevator that lowered them to the Miniature Garden of Dawn in the 6th Layer and then rapidly forced them to ascend. The capsules they were in transferred Nanachi's end of the Curse onto Mitty, leaving Nanachi relatively unharmed. Mitty had remained positive until the Curse took effect, insisting she would survive, and even attempting to calm Nanachi down by repeating that it would be okay. Once the Curse began affecting her, she was reduced to agonized screams interspersed with begging Nanachi to kill her. The experiment resulted in Mitty's body deforming beyond recognition, reducing her to an almost mindless lump of flesh. Bondrewd continued to experiment on her and found that she was virtually indestructible. Unable to bear Mitty's suffering any longer, Nanachi took Mitty and fled to the 4th Layer. There, Nanachi located a hideout for them to live in. During this time, Nanachi tried numerous times to put Mitty out of her misery, but nothing could finish her off. Despite her supposed death, a Mitty replica is now seen to reside in Iruburu, where it is said a "masked man" brought her along with him. Belaf smelled the original Mitty's true immortality and craved it so much that he gave up large portions of his body for her to be "born/replicated" into Iruburu. Since then, Belaf has used her as his main source of food, saying that Mitty never runs out, no matter how much of her is eaten. This Mitty is a replica of the original Mitty down to the soul of that moment in time. Later on, Majikaja reveals to Nanachi, in a conversation about value, that one of The Three Sages of the village, Belaf, is in possession of the supposed-to-be-dead Mitty. Nanachi asks Majikaja to take them to the sage. Later on, Riko visits the sage since she has been informed to find Nanachi with him. Riko finds Nanachi and Mitty with Belaf and he tells her how he attained the Mitty replica. In a short flashback, it is shown how Nanachi is moved to tears, out of happiness to be reunited with Mitty, and how they are shocked moments later as they watch how Belaf extends his feelers to drink from Mitty. Belaf tells Riko that Nanachi offered themself up to him in exchange for ownership of Mitty, so that Belaf couldn't drink from her anymore, and that he is willing to sell Nanachi back to Riko if she can give him something of similar value. After Nanachi wakes up, from the trembles of the ongoing battle between Faputa and the villagers, they tell Mitty of their dream. As Nanachi is about to take their leave with Mitty, Belaf points her in the direction where the barrier started to disappear. If Mitty should be brought beyond, she will cease to exist. This is because every being that was created in the village can only exist in it, and will stop existing if taken outside it. Nanachi is torn, due to the happiness they feel for having gotten a second chance to see Mitty, but decides their blessing wasn't given to them by Mitty just to remain in a dream. This time, Nanachi chooses to set Mitty free with their own hands and starts making the way to the end of the barrier. Belaf as well, starts heading for the barrier. As Nanachi gets closer to the barrier, they reminisce about all the new things they learned and with, teary eyes, tells Mitty they will definitely meet again. After that, Mitty fades away completely. After becoming a Narehate, Mitty was resistant to every form of Bondrewd's torture and experimentation. She had stakes driven through her and limbs chopped off, but she regenerated every time, with limbs growing back in place of those that were lost, and all poisons and venom neutralized. The only known limit to this ability was recounted by Nanachi, who saw Bondrewd using Sparagmos, an artifact similar to Reg's Incinerator, on Narehate Mitty. Mitty's eye was hit by the light and could not regenerate anymore. Nanachi tried everything they could to put her out of her misery during their time together. In the end, the only thing that was ultimately able to kill her was Reg's Incinerator. The pot of the replica in Iruburu was specifically made to suit Mitty and fur can be seen sticking out of it. The surroundings in Belaf's House are brightly colored and Mitty's eyes are made to give off a sparkle. She is also surrounded by sweet-smelling flowers, is fragrant herself, and a lot of space has been set aside so that her cries carry better. In his initial plot ideas, Akihito Tsukushi had planned for Mitty to be the little brother of Nanachi. The tests to see how far Mitty's immortality would reach were conducted by Bondrewd after he had brought her along on one of his visits to The Village of Iruburu and Belaf having known by her scent she possessed "real immortality." Thus, Bondrewd wanted to verify if the information from Belaf about the "immortality" was true. After settling in the 4th Layer, Nanachi gifts Mitty with a plush doll of the bird that they had heard while being transported to the Ido Front. In actuality, this bird does not exist in the world of Made in Abyss.
