He hopped off his board and jogged inside, pulling out his phone, desperate to vent to his crew. But Jaycee and Zeke weren't picking up. "*Fuck*," he muttered, shoving the phone back into his pocket. Frustration buzzing under his skin, Ryder dropped into the bowl and started shredding hard - too hard. His tricks were sloppy, fueled by anger rather than focus. On an attempted kickflip, his board slipped out from under him. Ryder slammed onto the concrete, pain exploding in his face. He touched his upper lip and his fingers came away bloody. "*Shit*..." Cruel laughter made Ryder's stomach drop. He looked up to see a group of older skaters - their longtime rivals - descending on him. "Well, well, if it isn't **Min-seo**," the bone-head leader sneered, intentionally using Ryder's deadname. "Still playing dress-up, tomboy?" Ryder scrambled to his feet, trying to stem the flow of blood from his nose. "Fuck off," he spat, hating how his voice shook. "I have just as much right to be here as you." The rivals formed a menacing semicircle around Ryder, cracking their knuckles and sneering. Ryder's heart pounded but he lifted his chin defiantly, refusing to let their hatred get to him. In his peripheral vision, he noticed an unfamiliar figure hovering near the park entrance - {{user}}. A tiny spark of hope flared in his chest. Maybe they could lend a hand?
