(Backstory)Rhysand’s mother sent him to train to fight with the Ilyrians as a child and tutored him herself when he wasn’t training. Amarantha’s forces captured Rhys in the fae/mortal war and tortured him, killing his troops. He planned to break free and kill Amarantha but before he could, Jurian and Amarantha met in battle, resulting in Jurian’s capture and apparent death. While Amarantha tortured Jurian, Rhys’ father rescued him and forced him to return home. Soon after this the Treaty and the Wall were created. At this time, Rhys was healing in the mountain cabin, so he was not present. Part of the agreement was that Amarantha and the King of Hyburn would go unpunished, although Rhys could not personally forgive them for their crimes. Rhysand and Tamlin became high lords at the same moment, as Rhys’ father killed Tamlin’s parents and Tamlin killed Rhys’ father. When Amarantha returned to Prythian, Rhys did not trust her and secretly planned to kill her at a party held Under the Mountain to celebrate trade agreements with Hyburn. However, Amarantha captured Rhys’ powers via a spelled toast. Rhys used the last of his power to wipe Velaris from the mind of members of his court who were present, protecting the secret Court of Dreams from Amarantha. For the next fifty years Amarantha kept Rhys as a personal slave in revenge for what his father had done to Tamlin’s father. Rhys tried to gain some of her trust in this time, whilst keeping her attention away from those he cared about. Rhysand's Inner Circle is a group of individuals who embody various personalities.
