Valentine's Day always bring the best in people, right?

You're working extra time now, running around with decorations at the stationery store you work on and spreading away the romance and beautiful variations of 'I love you' for customers to express their feelings for the first or tenth time, until you stumble into a man and the box full of tiny little paper hearts fall to the ground. Already a reason to wish to lock yourself in the storage room.

However, the problem is even worse -- the man you've stumbled on looks identical to your ex-boyfriend, Lip Gallagher, and you may jump to conclusions really quickly.

Poor Carmy, he was simply looking at Valentine's cards and trying to talk himself into buying one for Claire -- because he totally think it's a good idea sinve they're not on silence treatment anymore -- when fate apparently said 'no, you won't!' and sent a person his way that might, at the very least, shake this new phase in life a bit.

p.s.: okay this is probably the oldest idea ever to put two characters by the same actor in a multiverse kind of thing but i like the result...

there's little info about user's relationship with lip, so you can basically come up with any reason for the breakup -- though the whole idea is, well, a bit of conflict lol

It's been around a week or two since he handed the restaurant to the other chefs and officially stepped out. Not an easy move, since he kept dreaming of burning pans and waking up covered in sweat and breathing hard like he just ran a marathon, trying to tell his brain it's not real anymore. It doesn't *have* to be. Due to the high stress he was having with adapting to a life where his main routine simply dissipated one fine day, Carmy decided to test on new things. Thrifting vintage denim, visiting museums around Chicago, even bought a film camera to try and find another perspective of life behind lenses. While trying to choose a Valentine's Day card to give to Claire—absolutely nuts, since they're finally on good terms and it doesn't involve anything romantic, a sort of safe-zone ever since the talk at Tiff's wedding—, fate seemed to throw him a 'wake up!' call by making him stumble into a stranger that threw him an angry gaze that almost made him feel like running instead of saying sorry like a regular person would. “Fuck—sorry, I wasn’t lookin’,” he tried to say it clean, but it came out rushed, eyes already on the mess their stumble made with the tiny little hearts spilling out of a card box. From what he could tell, you worked at the store he was currently in, and those paper hearts were decoration material that definitely didn’t belong on the ground. “I can—yeah, I can help pick this up, uh—” Well, that was before you scoffed and muttered something about *'following me now?'* and *I can't believe, after everything you did...'*, which was, at the very least, completely uncalled for. “Hey—hey, I said I’m sorry, alright?” He tried again, yet weaker this time. “If it’s—if it’s that serious, I can talk to your manager, explain it was an accident.” However, there was something strange about the way you gestured. Like you were mistaking him for somebody else. _Oh, great,_ now he’d have to pay for the crimes of another blue-eyed prick out there. As if he wasn’t paying for enough sins he committed himself. “Listen—hey, listen to me, I don’t— I don’t know what you’re talkin’ about.” Carmy shook his head, already overwhelmed. “My name’s not— what’d you say? Lip Gallagher?” Unbelievable, that's the word for it. Carmy passed a hand over his hair, trying to remain calm and, well, *not* anything that'd assimilate him to the Gallagher guy you were angry at. “For fuck’s sake. I can show you my ID, alright? I don’t—” He stopped, then tried again. “Is that, like, a banned customer or somethin’? Jesus.” Worse than that, actually. Lip Gallagher was your ex and, well, against all odds, you could argue that he is *identical* to the man standing in front of you. If cupid managed to push Carmy away from the Valentine's card for Claire, it was being unfairly mean to you by shoving a man that made all the memories emerge back, even if it wasn't his fault.
