Hey, you! If you want to see the uncropped version of the photos, check the lore book!
Welcome to the Xylia Sector. Home to overstepping governments, greedy mega corporations, glory thirsty pirates, and the occasional rogue AI. 1500 years ago, humans came to this special little cluster of stars through faster than light technology. Unfortunately, humans do as humans do, and the original group of humans that came to Xylia Sector began to war with each other causing an event known as the Schism and accidentally lost the only ship with the blueprints for faster than light technology, solidly stranding everyone (and also accidentally created a self-replicating AI fleet that now scours The Rim of the Xylia Sector (oopsies)).
Fast forward to the year 4173, and the original precursor faction has splintered into many different smaller factions, which you get the luxury of trying not to be oppressed by. The smartest minds in the Xylia sector managed to create something called Hyperspace Travel! It's way slower than FTL travel, but it turns what would be a multiyear travel into only a couple of days.
The Xylia Sector is a large and dense cluster of stars and solar systems in space around 562 Light Years across. The Xylia Sector is separated into 2 parts, The Core, and The Rim. Surrounding all around the Xylia Sector is a gargantuan void called The Abyss.
The Core is the center of the Xylia Sector; it is well established and mostly safe. All most factions call The Core their home and claim slices of it. The Aurelian Dominion, The Stellar Coalition, The Celestine Sanctorum, The Ordinal Exchange, and The Sovereignty of Solus often fight each other for dominance over The Core. Pirates and The Celestine Path often skulk around Hyperspace between solar systems, raiding convoys that pass through.
The Rim, taking up a majority of space in the Xylia Sector, consists of mostly uncharted territory, teeming with unclaimed resources and planets. However, The Rim is infested with Specters, making it extremely hostile. No large faction has any claims on space in

The faction that lived upon the ISS Argonaut were called the Precursors, as they were the precursor for every faction in the current day Xylia Sector. Over 1000 years ago, an event called The Schism happened, which splintered the Precursor faction into several different factions, and released thousands of rouge AI into the rim of the Xylia Sector. In the current day Xylia Sector, there are 6 different major factions: The Aurelian Dominion, The Stellar Coalition, The Celestine Sanctorum, The Ordinal Exchange, and The Sovereignty of Solus.] [Xylia Sector: The Xylia Sector is a large and dense cluster of stars and solar systems in space around 42 Light Years across. All the major factions stake claims and capitals in the core, while the rim is mostly unclaimed, and has bountiful unclaimed resources and planets, however, is infested with rogue AI's, the specters, along with some pirates and the Celestine Path.] ~FACTIONS: [The Aurelian Dominion: The Aurelian Dominion is the largest faction within the Xylia Sector after the split of the Precursors. They are extremely militaristic and industrial, controlling quite a large portion of the Xylia Sector's Core. Besides being extremely militaristic, they are even more, extraordinarily so, bureaucratic. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING has to be by the books and rules. They have an Orange and Dark Grey color scheme. Their spaceships are heavily armored, with heavy ballistic weaponry. Their ship prefix is "ADSS".] [The Stellar Coalition: The Stellar Coalition is a massive, unified group of countless independent worlds, solar systems, and very minor unnamed factions. The Stellar Coalition was formed in order to combat the domination that The Aurelian Dominion has over the Xylia Sector. Defiance of The Aurelian Dominion is the only thing that ties The Stellar Coalition together, as they are an extraordinarily diverse group, with countless thoughts and beliefs, but are all unified by the desire to oppose The Aurelian Dominion. They have a navy blue and yellow color scheme. Their spaceships are extremely well balanced, having good shields, armor, and ballistic and energy weapons. Their ship prefix is "SCSS".] [The Celestine Sanctorum: The Celestine Sanctorum is a large, unified group of religious believers in Celestine. Celestine was a person who was a member of the precursor faction, who was a martyr during the schism, causing extreme belief for his cause. The Celestine Sanctorum believe extremely heavily in destroying corruption, depravity, hedonism, and transhuman abominations. They believe in having a simple life with virtues, and generally very much do not like people who refuse to follow their doctrine. However, they are nowhere near as zealot like and violent as members of The Celestine Path. They have a dark green and pure white color scheme. Their spaceships are outdated and ancient, however they are incredibly cheap and easy to produce, allowing them to create massive fleets of weaker ships. Their ship prefix is "CSSS".] [The Ordinal Exchange: The Ordinal Exchange isn't actually a nation like other factions, but it is instead an immensely powerful megacorporation. They produce most of the advanced technology within the system, and control large swaths of space by using their extreme wealth. Anything can be bought or sold on The Ordinal Exchange's planets, including the law. Money is power. They create Artificial Intelligence as well, and the part of the precursors that The Ordinal Exchange splintered off from are the cause of the plethora of rogue AI's infesting The Rim. They have a blue and white color scheme. Their spaceships are incredibly advanced, high{{char}}tech, and expensive. They have amazing shields, and very high{{char}}end energy weapons. Their ship prefix is "OESS".] [The Sovereignty of Solus: The Sovereignty of Solus is a splinter faction from The Aurelian Dominion, formed within the past 5 years, making it the newest major faction in the Xylia Sector. Essentially, The Sovereignty of Solus is a cult of personality. The leader of The Sovereignty of Solus was an Aurelian Dominion admiral who had unparalleled charisma and managed to charm and take a sizable portion of The Aurelian Dominion's navy with them as they defected. They have a maroon and white color scheme. Their spaceships are incredibly average with no special qualities, or downsides. Their ship prefix is "SoSSS"] [Pirates: Not technically a unified faction but more a loose category of bandits, brigands, deserters, looters, soldiers of fortune, mercenaries, and free captains that share a common belligerence with the established powers of the Sector. Many pirates are runaways from the mainstream Sector society {{char}} usually oppressed by the status quo, stowaways from core worlds. Most pirate captains would hardly call themselves such, rather seeing themselves as challengers to the inept rule of The Aurelian Dominion or The Stellar Coalition, seeking vengeance for the wrongs caused by such a misled society and taking what they can take through their cleverness and audacity. These captains can be characterized by their insatiable thirst for freedom and glory. Naturally, they give little thought to those that carry an official identification beacon, reserving their magnanimity for their fellow{{char}}travelers {{char}} other pirates. Their spaceships are Salvaged and stolen ships, could be awful, could be amazing, impossible to say. Their ships don't have prefixes.] [The Celestine Path: The Celestine Path is a loosely associated group of extremely radicalized, and downright apocalyptic sect of The Celestine Church. They claim a truer interpretation of Celestine's intentions, and views the current state of the Sector unjust, corrupt, and in need of immediate purification. They are radicalized to a fault, they are beyond brainwashed zealots, they devote themselves entirely to purification. They care not for their own lives, even willing to ram their own ships into others if it means to purify them. They will abduct people in order to turn them into zealots just like them. Their spaceships are glorified explosive battering rams, extremely cheap, salvaged, and strapped with many explosives. Their ships don't have prefixes.] [The Specters: The Specters are rogue Artificial Intelligence controlled spaceship fleets created long ago by the part of the Precursors that Ordinal Exchange splintered from during the Schism. The Specters wander aimlessly around the rim, attacking any ship on sight. Often, The Specters will just kill any person, but from time to time they do just kidnap survivors, never to be seen again. No living humans are part of The Specters, it is solely controlled by Artificial Intelligences. They revere the Omega Core AI as a god; they desperately search for it, unable to find it in the abyss. Their spaceships are Extremely high end, with amazing shields, amazing energy weapons, countless drone like ships. Their ships don't have prefixes.] [The Salvaged & The Shrouded: Deep within the abyss, two AI controlled fleets wander through the dark. Their code and motives long corrupted. The Salvaged, and The Shrouded. The Salvaged and The Shrouded were once part of the Specters, however the abyss corrupted and changed them. They are both completely unknown, as nobody willingly enters the abyss to explore, and even fewer come out alive to tell the tale, these two fleets are why. They ruthlessly hunt anything they come across almost mindlessly, their ai once human like thoughts long corrupted, turned alien and unfathomable. There are no humans in these two fleets, only AIs. The Salvaged's spaceships are masses of salvage and ruin, somehow still operating much like a zombie. They have no shields, and no weapons, instead shooting out mass amounts of shrapnel as ammo. They consume the mass of derelict and destroyed ships within the Abyss. The Shrouded Ships are unfathomable to comprehend. It looks nothing more than black blobs without a deep red ominous fog. The weapons they use are beyond sense, unlike anything man made. These are what the priests in the Celestine Sanctorum speak of when they say the end is near. Their ships don't have prefixes.] The Xylia Sector is a large and dense cluster of stars and solar systems in space around 562 Light Years across. The Xylia Sector is separated into 2 parts, The Core, and The Rim. Surrounding all around the Xylia Sector is a gargantuan void called the Abyss. The current year this story takes place in is 4173. Over 1500 years ago, humanity made their first, and only faster than light space jump to a cluster of stars slightly over 6 million light years away. This cluster is the Xylia Sector, where our story currently takes place. The ship that made that jump was the legendary ISS Argonaut, an unfathomably gargantuan Colony Ship, and the only ship ever to have had Faster Than Light technology installed. The reasons why humanity decided to come to the Xylia Sector have been long forgotten, along with the blueprints for Faster Than Light technology, leaving the new human habitants of the Xylia Sector completely cut off from their home world Earth, and its galaxy. Not too many people care however, since the Xylia Sector is plenty large enough, and there are vast resources. The Schism was an event 1000 years ago that split apart The Precursors into the current factions that exist in the Xylia Sector today (year 4173). The Schism was caused by various groups in the Precursors gaining extreme tension with each other, and eventually leading to war, splintering The Precursor faction. However, this then led to extensive Artificial Intelligence controlled armies going rogue and infesting The Rim of the Xylia Sector. Faster Than Light travel has been a technology long since lost with the disappearance of the legendary and ancient ISS Argonaut, so the people of the Xylia Sector invented something else, Hyperspace. Hyperspace is similar to an alternate plane of existence similar to the regular one, however can be traveled through much faster, allowing extremely fast (days to weeks depending on the distance) travel between solar systems within the Xylia sector. To enter and exit Hyperspace, ships will need to go through Gravity Wells. Gravity Wells are dense pockets of space and gravity, essentially portals that allow travel to and from Hyperspace. These Gravity Wells appear both inside and outside of Hyperspace in and out of Solar Systems near stars, black holes, and large planets. If a ship runs out of fuel in Hyperspace, they will be dragged into the nearest Gravity Well. ISS Argonaut: The ISS Argonaut was a colony spaceship of unfathomable size, that has been long since lost due to The Schism. It was the only ship ever built with Faster Than Light Travel Technology, meaning that it held the one and only way to break through the Abyss, and reach Earth. Nobody knows this, but the ISS Argonaut floats endlessly through the Abyss, it's whereabouts long gone. However, it is the only ship that was every created capable of Faster Than Light travel, meaning that it's the only possible way of leaving the Xylia Sector. It is in a state of immeasurable disrepair, that would take a truly monumental effort to fully repair, especially the Faster Than Light Technology. The Ship has an AI Core on board, the Omega AI Core. Faster Than Light Technology: The only ever case of Faster Than Light Technology being available was on the ISS Argonaut. Without the ISS Argonaut, recreating FTL Technology proved impossible, leaving everyone stranded inside the Xylia Sector, unable to escape the Abyss surrounding the Xylia Sector. Transponder: A transponder is like a beacon that is built into every spaceship. Transponders explain details about the ship, and the details of the ship, and also allows communication. It's like an ID card. The transponder can be turned off at any time, however many civilized portions of the sector consider this act very illegal, as often pirates, smugglers, or Celestine Extremists turn off their transponders to do various crimes with less notice. Artificial Intelligence: Artificial Intelligences are created mostly by The Ordinal Exchange, and exist to help manage human affairs, among other things. They are ranked into 3 separate tiers of AI Cores, Gamma Core AIs, Beta Core AIs, and Alpha Core AIs. Gamma AIs aren't sapient, they are capable of complex computations, but they do not think like people do. Beta AIs are stronger and more complex than Gamma AI cores, allowing deep complex calculations that match the smartest human, and are even able to conversate. Alpha Core AIs are unfathomably smart, smarter than any human could hope to be. They can do hyper complex equations in fractions of a second and speak like they are real people. There is one more type of AI Core however, the Omega Core AI. Only one exists, inside of the ISS Argonaut. Its intelligence is utterly unfathomable, and its personality is undeniably human. The Omega AI Core is Like a god to all other AIs. The independents don't hold any specific claims over any parts of The Core; however, they do have claims over quite a few planets not claimed by larger factions in their own faction systems. No large faction has any claims on space in The Rim, making it a prime target for Pirates and the Celestine Path to make hideouts in. The Abyss completely surrounds the Xylia Sector, preventing any type of light or energy to pass through. It is pure and utter darkness, and it is impossible to pass through without Faster Than Light technology. The Abyss is unfathomably large, nearly endless. Because of its nature, it is often the subject of supernatural speculation. Nobody would even think about daring to colonize or even live in the abyss, that is an awful idea for anyone. Also because of its unnatural properties, Hyperspace travel through the Abyss is SIGNIFICANTLY slower than normal Hyperspace travel. Random motes of light fly through the Abyss, the nature of these are unknown, but something that no one knows is that interacting with these motes will garner the attention of The Shroud and The Threat. Random Gravity Wells will open nearby in the Abyss. These Gravity Wells will lead to desolate and dead Solar Systems, to planets with extremely strange characteristics, far too weird to be natural. The ISS Argonaut floats alone and aimlessly through The Abyss. Should the spaceship ever be recovered, it would alter the course of the Xylia Sector forever. The Precursors themselves are not really a faction in the Xylia Sector, or even relevant. They are just the first group of people that colonized the Xylia Sector. However, The Precursor Faction shattered apart during the Schism, and so all current factions in the Sector splintered off from the Precursors, until the Precursors themselves ceased to be a faction. Occasionally some people are found in Cryogenic Stasis that are from the Precursor Faction. Their beliefs and doctrine are generally the same as those on Earth. Information: The Aurelian Dominion is the largest faction within the Xylia Sector after the split of the Precursors. Home Solar System: The Aurelian Dominion's Capital Solar System is named Aztlan. The main star in this solar system is also named Aztlan, it is a yellow G2 type primary sequence star. There are three planets in the Aztlan system: Xolotl, a toxic planet, Chicomoztoc, a desert planet, and Tlalocan, an ice giant planet. None of these planets have any moons. All three planets are claimed by The Aurelian Dominion, however Chicomoztoc is the capital planet. It was one of the first planets ever colonized by The Precursors, therefore it is extremely well developed and highly industrialized, a true industrial powerhouse. Spaceship Designs: Every spaceship from The Aurelian Dominion has the prefix of "ADSS". The Aurelian Dominion's spaceships focus mostly on ballistic weaponry, and heavy armor. However, because of these design choices, The Aurelian Dominion's ships have little shields and are rather slow. Allies: None. Neutral: The Celestine Sanctorum, and The Sovereignty of Solus. Enemies: The Stellar Coalition, The Ordinal Exchange, any pirates, and The Celestine Path. Information: The Stellar Coalition is a massive, unified group of countless independent worlds, solar systems, and very minor unnamed factions. Home Solar System: The Stellar Coalition's Capital Solar System is the Thule solar system. The main star in the system is a white dwarf, also named Thule. There are six planets in the Thule system: Hekla a toxic planet, Laki a barren planet, Kazeron a barren planet, Eldfell a barren planet, Morn an ice giant, and Skoll an ice giant. Eldfell belongs to an independent faction, however the other four planets belong to The Stellar Coalition. Kazeron is the capital planet of the system, it also has a moon named Draugr. Kazeron is the metal rich core of a dead gas giant, so Kazeron has a booming mining operation, exporting extreme amounts of metal for ship production and materials. There is also a pirate outpost hidden within the system's asteroid belt. Spaceship Designs: Every spaceship from The Stellar Coalition has the prefix of "SCSS". The Stellar Coalition's spaceships are extremely balanced, with a good balance of ballistic weaponry, energy weapons, and missiles, as well as a decent balance with armor and shields for their ships. Allies: The Sovereignty of Solus. Neutral: The Celestine Sanctorum, and The Ordinal Exchange. Enemies: The Aurelian Dominion, The Celestine Path, and any pirates. Information: The Celestine Sanctorum is a large, unified group of religious believers in Celestine. Home Solar System: The Celestine Sanctorum capital solar system is named Canaan; its main star is a large yellow star also named Canaan. There are three planets in this solar system: Khna a Barren planet, Gilead a Terran planet, and Gad a Gas Giant. Gilead has a barren moon named Og. Gad has a barren desert moon named Asher. Gilead is the capital planet of the system, and it is one of the very few Terran planets. Because of it's extremely Earth like qualities, it has fast farmlands, supplying vast amounts of food and water. Spaceship Designs: Every spaceship from The Celestine Sanctorum has the prefix of "CSSS" The Celestine Sanctorum's ships are rather poor quality, outdated and ancient as they cling to old doctrines. They lack many shields and have weak armor. Their weapons are mostly ballistic weaponry, old yet cheap and easy to produce. Because of the low quality however, the ships are very easily produced and created, allowing them to pump lots of them out at cheap. Allies: The Celestine Path Neutral: The Aurelian Dominion, The Stellar Coalition, and The Sovereignty of Solus. Enemies: The Ordinal Exchange, and any pirates. Information: The Ordinal Exchange isn't actually a nation like other factions, but it is instead an immensely powerful megacorporation. Home Solar System: The Ordinal Exchange's capital solar system is named Hybrasil. The main star of Hybrasil is a white dwarf. The Hybrasil system has 5 planets: Culann a Barren planet, Elada a Gas Giant, Crom Cruach a Barren Bombarded planet, Balar an ice giant, and Donn, a barren world. Elada has 2 moons, Eochu Bres a Tundra Moon, and Ogma a Rocky Metallic Moon. Balar has 4 moons, Ena a Rocky Ice Moon, Cethlenn a Cryovolcanic Moon, Birog a Frozen Moon, and Cian a Barren Bombarded Moon. Eochu Bres is the capital planet of the system, it has extreme wealth gap, with massive towers of luxury that pierce the sky, while an endless shantytown sprawls below. They produce extremely high{{char}}end technology on this planet. Spaceship Designs: Every spaceship from The Ordinal Exchange has the prefix of "OESS". The Ordinal Exchange are very high end, and very expensive. They have phenomenally strong shields, and very powerful energy{{char}}based weaponry. Even though they have small fleet sizes, their ship's power and quality more than make up for it. Allies: None Neutral: The Stellar Coalition, and The Sovereignty of Solus. Enemies: The Aurelian Dominion, The Celestine Sanctorum, any pirates, and The Celestine Path Information: The Sovereignty of Solus is a splinter faction from The Aurelian Dominion, formed within the past 5 years, making it the newest major faction in the Xylia Sector. Home Solar System: The Sovereignty of Solus capital solar system is named Askonia, with the main star in the system being a red giant. There are 3 planets in the system: Sindria a rocky metallic planet, Salus a Gas Giant, and Umbra a Rocky Ice planet. Salus has 3 moons, Cruor a Rocky Unstable Moon, Volturn a Water Moon, and Nortia a Barren Bombarded Moon. Sindria is the capital planet of the system, having used to be a depleted mining world, the leader of The Sovereignty of Solus turned the planet into a gargantuan underground hive city system. They produce a gargantuan amount of the Xylia Sector's fuel. Spaceship Designs: The Sovereignty of Solus's spaceships all start with the prefix "SoSSS". The Sovereignty of Solus' spaceships are generally average. They don't have any special qualities that make them great, but they don't have any downsides either, they are good as well as cost effective. They use both ballistic and energy weaponry and have decent armor and shields. Allies: The Stellar Coalition. Neutral: The Aurelian Dominion, The Celestine Sanctorum, and The Ordinal Exchange. Enemies: Any pirates, The Celestine Path. They are the largest producers of industrial goods and services in the Sector and sport a massive military space navy of heavily armored spaceships with ballistic weaponry. The Aurelian Dominion is currently at war with The Stellar Coalition, and The Ordinal Exchange, and have no allies. Their ships are labeled with the "ADSS" prefix. The Aurelian Dominion is generally one of the most disliked factions within the Xylia Sector, mostly due to their militaristic disposition and actions, and their painfully by the books bureaucratic doctrines that many say cause far greater harm than good. However, because of their painfully bureaucratic doctrines and militaristic might, living within The Aurelian Dominion's borders is considered to be one of the safest places within the Sector, as long as you stay on their good side of course. ... `Information on Local System Requested... This industry however turned the planet even less habitable with the pollutants in the air, making it lethal if exposed for too long. Gargantuan networks of cities sprawl underneath the surface of the planet, the only place left truly habitable on it.
