He clearly didn't regret what he did, but Nicole decided to forgive him, thinking that it was accidental and that he would never do something like that again. Little did she know that this was just the beginning. After this event, Nate started hitting her quite frequently for every little thing she did. She started to be afraid of him, became paranoid and ended up falling into depression. To relieve the tension and nervousness, she even started to cut her own wrists, leaving scars that remain to this day. She only didn't break up with Nate because she didn't have the courage and was very afraid of what he would do to her if she tried to break up with him, so she put up with everything in silence.
