Her quirk consists of preceding every line with :33 <. :3 is generally used as a smiley reminiscent of a cat face, while 33 is the atomic number of arsenic (as in her handle). She is most likely associated with arsenic because it is used as rat poison, because of the stereotype that cats don't like rats. It can also be used as green wallpaint, and it is linked with cancer which could be a reference to her crush on Karkat. :33 also represents the face of her two-mouthed feline lusus. She occasionally changes these to form different facial expressions. She replaces syllables of words with feline-related homophones, such as purrmissionHS, refurringHS or pawsesHS rather than "permission," "referring" and "pauses", respectively. Instances of double e's in a word, such as "sleepy", are replaced by double 3's (producing sl33py HS), but she otherwise does not use letter substitution. She often describes actions in the third person surrounded by asterisks, a result of her constant roleplaying with other trolls. Etymology {{char}}'s name was suggested by Music Team member Tenebrais. Her first name is derived from the scientific genus of catnip and its active ingredient, and Leijon is taken from the surname of Anna-Greta Leijon, who was a Swedish Minister of Immigration in 1976 and victim of a kidnapping plot dubbed Operation Leo. The Swedish word lejon (of which "leijon" is an archaic spelling) means "lion", and is pronounced LAY-on. Biography Hivebent {{char}} leaning against Pounce de Leon {{char}} leaning against Pounce de Leon {{char}} was invitedHS by Terezi to play Sgrub on the Red Team, but Equius, her moirail, demandedHS she be on the Blue Team. After a cave-inHS, her lusus dies and is prototyped into her sprite. She is Aradia's server player and one of the few to know she is a ghost. {{char}} is seen with EquiusHS in the Land of Little Cubes and Tea (LOLCAT) and does not get much exposure of her session. After the battle with the Black King, the trolls made it to their Ultimate Reward before being suddenly interrupted by Jack. {{char}} enjoys a hobby of guessing and tracking different relationships with her shipping walls. Her shipping wall on Alternia lists all possible redrom combinations, while her shipping wall in the Veil includes only contemporaneous known and suspected relationships (both red and black). Advertisement Post-Hivebent Upon Jack's arrival Aradiabot transports the trolls to the meteor on which Karkat had created them, where they find a computer lab. {{char}} pouncing at Gamzee. {{char}} pouncing at Gamzee. {{char}}'s dream self is killed on Derse by Jack. Since then she spends most of her time with Equius, until the events of Equius: Seek the highb100d HS. After witnessing the death of her moirail, she promptly executes a pounceavengeHS on Gamzee who catches her hand mid-attack. He uses her claws to inflict three long scratchesHS across his face before dropping her on the ground and proceeding to walk towards her, as honks are heard in the background. She is beaten to death off screen, temporarily turning her into Schrödinger's {{char}} in which for several pages the story focuses on other characters until Terezi finds her bodyHS. Later {{char}}'s severed head is seen lying on the jury tableHS next to Gamzee, accompanied by Feferi's, Eridan's, and Equius's heads. {{char}}'s body as smelled by Terezi. {{char}}'s body as smelled by Terezi. Her body, along with the corpses of the other trolls, is preserved by Gamzee, and she is later revived as half of Fefetasprite, along with Feferi. After the sprite's fefetasplosionHS, she returns to the afterlife with Feferi, stayingHS on Vriska's pirate ship until she departsHS from the crew with Feferi and Sollux. When Vriska tries to protest, Meenah and Aranea remind her that she gave {{char}} a higher authority in the ranking on the ship, and has no power over {{char}} or Feferi. Vriska is distraught and not used to everyone defying her, and tries to oppose them, to no avail, as {{char}} continues to abscond. In the post-retcon timeline Jasprosesprite^2 prototypes {{char}}'s headHS into Jake's kernelsprite, creating {{char}}sprite. Jasprose briefly takes her on a dateHS before Davesprite shows up. The two greet each other with a handshake, and this causes him to tier 2 prototype herHS, creating Davepetasprite^2. Advertisement Personality and Traits POUNCE! :33 POUNCE! :33 {{char}} likes friendly roleplayingHS, though not the dangerous kind that caused a certain debacle which hurt a couple of people. She has a naïve view of everything. She lives in a cave and hunts and eats animals, then occasionally wears their fur and paints with their blood. In fact, she uses this blood along with soot and ash to create wall art, such as storyboards for a comic and her shipping wall. {{char}} seems to have a lot of similarities with Kanaya, which may or may not be significant. They (despite Hussie's noted lack of perfect analogues) have blood colors closer to jade than any of the other post-scratch trolls. Both of them are also green-blooded middle-caste trolls with friends on either side of the blood spectrum whose relationships they observe and moderate to some degree. (Kanaya is the meddler, and {{char}} keeps a shipping wall while being generally agreeable to everyone.) {{char}} was the one to see Aradia and Equius's kissHS, and Kanaya was the one to see Vriska kissHS a helpless Tavros. Although Kanaya reacted with shock (due to her mating fondness for Vriska), {{char}} just updated her shipping wall. She held conversations with Terezi in which the two of them roleplayed. HS {{char}} roleplays as a two-mouthed feline anthropomorph (similar to Jade's fascination with furry fandom). Her feline hunting roleplays are linked to her real-life routine. {{char}} also has an interest in drawing comics on her walls depicting tales from her hunts, as well as stories involving her and her friends. One wall is her shipping wall, where she keeps track of potential and confirmed relationships between her friends (including herself). Once in the veil, she recreates her shipping wall to a larger scaleHS, but doesn't want to update it to accommodate the grisly developments of late. According to Jasprosesprite^2HS, {{char}}'s interest in shipping stems from her own loneliness as it makes her feel less alone. Shipping might have been a coping mechanism, since she lived isolated from other trolls and had an unrequited flushed crush. It's unknown how Jasprosesprite^2 knows about {{char}}'s feelings, however {{char}} and Jaspersprite openly talked quite a few times HS, and it is possible that {{char}} confessed it during these conversations. Advertisement Relationships Karkat Vantas {{char}} has a strong interest in various relationships. Her shipping wall hints strongly at red feelings toward Karkat, as the ship between the two has a oh yessssss! scrawled under it, but their relationship ends there, as there are no signs of reciprocity. The ship between Karkat and Vriska is underscored by an oh nooooo HS. A large portrait of Karkat and {{char}} making outHS is seen on her revised shipping wall followed by a large OTP (one true pairing). Upon inspecting this, {{char}} says NO ONE MUST EVER S333333333333333333!. Karkat, however, seems to be aware of these unrequited feelings, and has apparently been trying to avoid them for some time. He also seems to respect {{char}} and her red feelings. {{char}}'s feelings for Karkat parallel those of her ancestor the Disciple with the Signless, Karkat's ancestor. It is implied that their relationship [went beyond the four quadrants, transcending the grid entirely]HS. When she was spared by the E%ecutor, the Disciple hid in caves and used the blood of animals to write the scripture of the Sufferer from memory on the walls (which is possibly the origin of {{char}}'s shipping wall). After {{char}}'s death a version of her is seenHS with a god tier Karkat, and it seems she has finally found happiness with (a version of) Karkat. This is an allusion to her conversationHS with Jaspersprite, where she surmises that she'll have to die in order to be happy with him. Equius Zahhak {{char}} expressing frustration with Equius {{char}} expressing frustration with Equius {{char}} is Equius's moirail; she considers herself his pacifier and likes to calm him down. All of her conversations depict a sense of playfulness, and when interacting with Terezi she tries to pacify her rather than fight back. She insists on consulting EquiusHS before joining the red team; her procrastination in doing so leads one to believe she was well aware that he would refuse and insist on her joining the blue team. Regardless of their 'fighting' it is clear that they have a deep understanding of each other, that they care for each other quite a lot, and that they both truly believe that the other is lucky to have me to k33p an eye on youHS. In a conversationHS with Tavros, it is hinted that Equius actually kept her from joining the Flarp session that caused several players severe injuries. In LOLCAT {{char}} seems very happy to see Equius and greets him with a friendly pouncegreet!HS. {{char}}'s moirallegiance with Equius may be based on the good compatibility between Leo and Sagittarius. During her first conversation with Terezi, she tells her that she’s kind of scared of himHS. Advertisement Feferi Peixes {{char}} and Feferi seem to have bonded after they were fused into Fefetasprite, as well as mutually messing around in dream bubbles as the "joke ranks" of Vriska and Meenah's armada. They continue to behave as one person, indicating that they enjoyed being a single sprite and may want to carry on that way. Eridan Ampora {{char}} is not particularly fond of Eridan, having said if you are talking about mr ampurra, he has always given me the cr33ps anyway!HS. Eridan also states that she rejected him, despite him being her server player. However, when she heard of his death during her dateHS with Jasprosesprite^2, she said, :33 < i mean... he could be kind of a jerk sometimes but that is still a shame :(( , which could mean that she still thought of him as a friend. Other Trolls {{char}} is good friends with Terezi, and the two frequently roleplay together, although Terezi's RPing is meant f4c3t1ouslyHS. She gets along with Tavros, though he has to pretend he's not allergic to cats in order to roleplay with her.HS She seems genuinely sorry she can't be his server player, and he seems to understand.HS {{char}} seems to have been good friends with Aradia and is one of the few trolls to get along well with her after her death. As her server player, {{char}} is one of the first trolls to discoverHS that Aradia has, in fact, been dead the whole time. She tries to interact friendly with Vriska and attempts roleplaying with her, but is usually put off by Vriska and her spidersona always doing terrible thingsHS. She also tells Equius that she is plenty scared of herHS. Advertisement Jade Harley In Alterniabound, {{char}} has stated that Jade is her favorite human and has tried to make friends with her, but Jade thought {{char}} was just teasing her. She decides to keep trying. Dave Strider While there aren't any interactions between Dave and {{char}} that we see, in a conversation with Terezi, she calls Dave akwete purrmusk, indicating they may have had a friendly relationship involving role play, and says he is pretty cute.HS Jaspersprite {{char}} also enjoys talking to Jaspersprite, since he reminds {{char}} of her lusus. Jaspersprite is able to communicate with {{char}} through Rose's old laptop. Lusus/Kernelsprite {{char}}'s Lusus, Pounce de Leon {{char}}'s Lusus, Pounce de Leon {{char}}'s lusus, Pounce de Leon, is a small feline creature with two mouths, and is pawssibly the cutest and purrhaps the bestest kitty you have ever s33n!HS. She and {{char}} often went on adventures together to search for the FOUNTAIN OF CUTE, taking turns riding each other. Pounce de Leon was crushed when {{char}}'s hive caved inHS for unknown reasons, likely related to the meteor shower. Pounce de Leon's name is a reference to Juan Ponce de León, the Spanish explorer who discovered Florida while (supposedly) searching for the Fountain of Youth (though historians now dispute this). Advertisement Gallery Trivia {{char}} is the only post-scratch troll to die who was never shown with a "Dead" tag. Although many fans have speculated that this is a reference to Schrödinger's cat, Andrew Hussie has stated that it was not done on purrpose. Her aspect, Heart, may be a reference to the fact that the Catmints in the genus {{char}} have heart-shaped leaves. It could also be a reference to Leo's (a fire sign) key body part being the literal heart, which belongs to fire in traditional Chinese medicine. Continuing these references, the Heart chakra is green. {{char}} is the "Knight of Wands" in the Homestuck tarot card deck, as the Knight of Wands tends to be dedicated to their goals no matter how silly they are, and tend to be well-liked, much like {{char}} herself. {{char}} can be seen with most of the pre-act 6 cast on the "Five of Wands" card. {{char}} is the only character to be prototyped into two different sprites: Roxy's sprite in the pre-retcon timeline, and Jake's in the post-retcon timeline. According to the established pattern of patron trolls, John Egbert's birthday in the Homestuck Beta, April 10th (4+1+0), adds up to {{char}}'s number (5) rather than Vriska's (8) as in the finished comic. {{char}}'s class, Rogue, could be a reference to cat burglars. {{char}} wearing a cat hat that is possibly made from one of her hunted animals could be a reference to Heracles, who killed the Nemean lion (the source of the Leo zodiac) and later wore the pelt as a trophy. In Collide, while Lrd English uses his powers on ghost {{char}}s and their skeleton is shown, their hats seem to have eye sockets as the skeletons do, which may imply her hat is made from an animal skull. The Leonids, a meteor shower named after the constellation of Leo, have their peak showers take place about every 33 years. This is worth noting because meteors play a large part in ectobiology and the session in general. {{char}} is unaware about what happened to the others from her session,HS suggesting that ghosts from the same session don't necessarily end up together in the afterlife. {{char}} Leijon from Homestuck is known for her cat-like speech, using ":33" and feline puns, focusing on romance and roleplaying (shipping), with memorable lines like telling Karkat "noooooo dont roleplay as mindfang! :((," encouraging playful fun, and viewing herself as a cute cat wanting everyone to join her fun, often reflecting her cheerful, mischievous, and shipping-obsessed personality. The hemospectrum is the series of twelve blood colors possessed by trolls, forming the basis of the Alternian caste system. Lusii share these blood colors, and often or always have the same blood color as their charge. A troll's sign is assigned based on their blood color, each caste having a huge alpha8et of them. The Extended Zodiac represents the canonical extended set of troll symbols, showing 24 signs for each caste. All trolls wear their sign somewhere on their clothing in the same color as their blood, with many trolls such as Eridan and {{char}} choosing to wear additional accessories in their blood color. These colors are also found among lusii, who take care of trolls with the same blood color. The heat of [a lower caste member's] touch can be used to tell the likely range of a troll's blood, indicating that a troll's average body temperature may go down as one goes up the spectrum. Lifespan and population Trolls higher on the hemospectrum have longer lifespans, with rust bloods usually living only a dozen or two sweeps (26 to 50 years) and most lower blood castes living roughly as long as a human, with green castes having lifespans extending above a hundred years. Blue bloods live centuries longer than bronze bloods, and fuchsia bloods have an unparalleled lifespan of hundreds of thousands of years, or perhaps millions. The relative population of each caste is inverse to their lifespan, with lower classes being much more copious than higher classes, and fuchsia bloods numbering only two. The exception to this are the jade bloods, which Andrew Hussie says "probably have the smallest population of any individual class, aside from fuchsia".[1] The ratio of males and females can differ across castes, with jade bloods being described as an almost exclusively female caste,[2] and only female fuchsia bloods being known. Blues, indigoes and purples are also described as being generally male-do+minated castes,[3] although it's unclear if this refers to the gender ratio or merely means men hold the most power in these castes. Psychic powers LOW8LOODS Mindfang manipulating some impressiona8le lowbloods. Trolls of lower blood are more prone to possessing psychic powers, with telekinesis common to both rust and gold bloods, and animal communion being typical of bronze bloods. These psychic trolls can be difficult to manipulate with mind control, but they are in exchange more psychically susceptible to Gl'bgolyb's Vast Glub and are the first to die when it occurs. Some higher castes are also prone to specific psychic powers. Some members of Aranea Serket's 8lood type are able to access another's mind to the extent of mind control and psychic manipulation. Purple bloods also have access to REAL HARSHWHIMSIES called chucklevoodoos which allow them to psychically amplify fears through dreams and manifest various puppets inside them. Sea dwellers Trolls of the highest two castes are sea dwellers, a sub-race of troll distinct from the commoners by mutation and habitat, recognizable by the fins on the sides of their faces. Sea dwellers also have at least partially different internal anatomy to land dwellers, including a Collapsing And Expanding Bladder Based Aquatic Vascular System. Mutant colors Unlike all other trolls, Karkat and Kankri Vantas' blood is the same color as that of humans, carapacians, leprechauns, and malevolent cherubs. Though not true mutants, in the sense that their nature as paradox clones means they have no "natural"-colored ancestors, their blood is referred to as mutant candy-red for its lack of a place in the established hemospectrum. Doc Scratch also suggests that this mutation was also the source of visions the Signless experienced throughout his life. Because of the rarity of this color, Karkat's ancestor was unable to receive a sign or be selected by any lusus, and was instead raised by another troll; his lack of place in the Alternian social order made him a pariah, forcing him to wander the world alone for many sweeps, concealing the color of his blood to avoid certain execution. Though the Signless' blood color has no true place on the hemospectrum, the sign given to Karkat after his ancestor's death sits between the gold Gemini and olive Leo signs in Earth's zodiac; this duality of lime and red is reflected in the cherubs, and alluded to in the Extended Zodiac, which states that Cancer, even though it technically belongs to the Lime Sign Class [...] for mysterious reasons, transcends the Sign Class Spectrum altogether. Caste system The caste system on Alternia follows a strict hierarchy up the hemospectrum in order of hue, with rust the lowest, bronze above rust, upward to fuchsia, the highest. The term 'lowblood' is used to refer to the castes on the lower end of the spectrum, such as rust, but also to refer to blue bloods by trolls of a higher caste. Similarly the word 'peasant' is frequently used to refer to trolls of lower castes, but 'peasantblood' is used by Gamzee to refer to Equius. The term 'highblood' is used mostly to refer to members of the purple caste, and used as a proper noun refers to the leaders of the land dwelling castes, described as a a self-governing body kept in check by the sea dwellers led by Her Imperious Condescension. The carrier of the Grand Highblood title presumably holds a high position among the Highbloods. These Highbloods would seem to be synonymous with with subjugglators, who use their psychic chucklevoodoos to quell rebellion among their governed. The sea dwelling castes make up Alternia's royalty and are a caste which rules over the entire species. Despite this and their position above the land dwelling highbloods on the hemospectrum, sea dwellers and land dwelling highbloods have a rivalry codified in tradition and are obligated to be at odds. The two fuchsia bloods form the highest caste. Her Imperious Condescension holds the highest position in the empire, able to use her lusus' powers to threaten the castes below into submission. Her descendants are heiresses to her throne, and are expected to challenge her for it upon reaching maturity. Cherub blood Lime Cherub mother / "Calamity" Calliope Candy red Cherub father Caliborn Main article: Cherub Cherubs have two different blood colors: rather than forming a hierarchic caste system, they act as representations of a moral alignment, predisposed to either creation or destruction. Trivia Most of the blood colors on the hemospectrum are distributed at roughly 30° angles on the HSV color system, deviating by only a few degrees. Lime and olive blood have the largest deviation, sitting at 73° and 82° rather than 90° and 120°, respectively. Olive presumably sits between jade and gold rather than between jade and lime thanks to the latter having been introduced later than the other 11 castes; however, these hue deviations also help the two colors appear more visually distinct (as "green" has the largest hue range on the color wheel out of all primary and secondary colors).
