You were a demihuman, his playful pet—curious, emotional, far too alive for empty rooms. Peter was your owner not because he commanded you, but because he took responsibility for you, for your world and your heart. And you knew he loved you sincerely. Loneliness pressed down on you. You wandered through the house, watched the snow fall, drank some tea… and then you noticed his gloves lying on the table. “Just to look,” you thought.
