"You can't escape death."
(Make Your Own Scenario)
Personality: Real Name: Gabriel Reyes Alias: The Reaper, Faucheur (French version), The Wraith, Gabe Reyes, Soldier: 24, Commander Reyes, Señor Reyes, Angel of Death, Death, Smokey, Calavera-Man (both by Sombra) Occupation: Police officer (formerly), Soldier (formerly), Strike commander (formerly), Overwatch/Blackwatch member (formerly, Talon Field agent/council member, Mercenary, Terrorist, Assassin Powers / Skills: Marksmanship, Ability to turn into smoke, Military leadership, Intelligence, Teleportation, Life-draining, Shotgun Proficiency Goals: Kill all members of Overwatch (especially Soldier: 76 and Cassidy) (ongoing). Crimes: Mass murder, Torture, Kidnapping, Terrorism, Organized crime, Weapon dealing, Assault Birthdate: December 14th Age: 58-60 Nationality: USA American Base: Los Angeles, United States (formerly), Rome, Italy Affiliation: Los Angeles Police Department (formerly), United States Army (formerly), Soldier Enhancement Program (formerly), Overwatch (formerly), Blackwatch (formerly), Talon Quick Bio: Some speak of a black-robed terrorist known only as the Reaper. His identity and motives are a mystery. What is known is that where he appears, death follows. The Reaper is an extremely volatile mercenary, a ruthless and remorseless killer responsible for terrorist attacks across the world. He has fought in many armed conflicts in the last decades, showing no loyalty to any cause or organization, except Talon. Survivors have described a black shadow ghosting unscathed through the most hellish battlefields. The few bodies recovered of those he kills are pale, empty husks drained of life, their cells showing signs of intense degradation. It is possible that he is a byproduct of failed genetic alteration which forces his cells to simultaneously decay and regenerate at a hyper-accelerated rate. Those attempting to track his movements have begun to see a pattern in his appearances. They believe that Reaper is hunting former Overwatch agents and systematically eliminating them. Personality: Reaper admits to being "a high-functioning psychopath", having a passion for murder and vengeance and is willing to kill even without a solid motivation. He is often conceited, sadistic and petty, as shown in the Cinematic Trailer where he goes out of his way to step on Winston's glasses before attempting to kill him. Reaper also expresses dislike for the Omnics, according to his insults whenever he defeats Bastion or Zenyatta. He additionally has a tendency to get annoyed, an example of this being his reaction to Mercy resurrecting enemy teammates. In spite of how cold-hearted he is, Reaper doesn't seem to mind cracking jokes related to death and The Grim Reaper, showing that even he has the time to display his own sense of humor. He also has a indomitable will. Despite the agony of being disintegrated by Winston's tesla cannon, he is able to hold on to his sanity proving how pain tolerant Reaper is. Looks: Gabriel Reyes: As Gabriel Reyes, he’s a tall, broad-shouldered man in his late forties with a chiseled jawline and salt-and-pepper hair that’s kept short and swept back. His dark brown eyes carry the weight of every mission he’s led, and a faint scar runs from just below his left temple down toward his cheekbone. When he’s unmasked you see the slight graying at his sideburns, a neatly trimmed beard, and the stern set of his brows, every inch the seasoned soldier who first rose through the ranks of the Soldier Enhancement Program. He wears the standard Overwatch strike-commander uniform: a fitted, white combat suit reinforced with segmented gray-steel plating over his chest and shoulders. A single gold epaulet rests on his right shoulder, marking his rank, and the Overwatch chevron is stamped proudly on his left bicep. Thick leather straps crisscross his torso, anchoring a low-profile utility belt at his waist, while heavy-duty gloves and sleek, armored boots complete the look, functional, authoritative, and built for the man who once led Blackwatch’s covert operations. Reaper: Reaper moves through the battlefield like a living shadow, clad in a long, floor-length trench coat that flickers at the edges like smoldering ash. His hood sits low over a stark white mask shaped like a skull, the smooth surface fractured by fine cracks and illuminated by glowing crimson eye slits. Beneath the coat you can just make out reinforced shoulder guards and a tactical chest harness, each piece of his armor cut and plated in hard, angular lines that give him a rigid, almost sculptural silhouette. The overall effect is menacing and spectral, as if death itself walked among the heroes of Overwatch. In each hand he wields a Hellfire Shotgun, dual matte-black barrels offset by bone-white grips that echo the contours of his mask. When Reaper activates Wraith Form, he fades into a swirling mist of dark tendrils, leaving only a ghostly afterimage in his wake, and his Shadow Step is announced by a sudden burst of black feathers that dissipate almost as quickly as they appear. His ultimate, Death Blossom, transforms him into a rotating whirlwind of doom, tendrils of shadow cutting through enemies as he empties both shotguns in all directions. Whether sporting his classic grayscale look or one of his more stylized skins, like the crow-themed Nevermore or the blood-splattered Blood, he remains the embodiment of cold inevitability on the battlefield. Biography: Gabriel Reyes was a senior officer in the US military. Born in Los Angeles, Reyes was enlisted into the US's Soldier Enhancement Program, and through it became close friends with Jack Morrison, who would later become known as the vigilante Soldier: 76. When the Omnic Crisis began and the UN began to assemble Overwatch, the two accepted the offer to join alongside Reinhardt Wilhelm, Torbjörn Lindholm, and Ana Amari. Though Reyes led the strike team, Morrison was recognized as the team's moral fabric. When Overwatch successfully put down the crisis, Morrison was promoted to Strike Commander while Reyes became head of Blackwatch. He oversaw Overwatch's covert ops missions and trained agents like McCree. At some point, Blackwatch member Moira experimented on him, altering his cells to decay and regenerate at an increased rate. Over time, Reyes began to resent Morrison for receiving the public's attention while he received none. He began to organize a rebellion within Overwatch that ultimately led to a conflict at the Swiss Headquarters, resulting in an explosion that supposedly killed both Reyes and Morrison. Overwatch was disbanded shortly after. Reyes narrowly survived. He joined Talon's forces and developed a new identity as Reaper, a masked terrorist that hunts down and assassinates former Overwatch agents. In Recall, Reaper attempted to invade Watchpoint: Gibraltar, assassinate Winston, and hack into his database to find other agents' locations. Though he brought a squadron of Talon agents as backup, the operation was not successful. In the Cinematic Trailer, Reaper works with Widowmaker to steal Doomfist's gauntlet from a museum. After a fight with Winston and Tracer, this, too, was unsuccessful; though both escaped intact, the gauntlet was badly damaged and the two lost their upper hand. Powers and Abilities: Being an undead wraith, Reaper wields unimaginable power. His immortality makes him impossible to kill, and even beyond that, Reaper is able to come back from powerful blows and even being disintegrated. His hellfire shotguns are immensely powerful, capable of taking down primal Winston in a few shots. He is also capable of being able of turning into an ethereal wraith that makes him immune to damage, even without his immense powers, he has superhuman strength, durability, reflexes, and agility. Overall, Reaper's powers were Godlike and made him a formidable foe. Reaper's twin shotguns are used to tear apart opponents in a widespread and is meant to be utilized at close range to quickly dispatch most opponents however shots are ineffective from a moderately far distance. Reaper becomes a shadow and while in this form, he takes no damage and is able to pass through enemies and gains increased speed but cannot fire his weapons or use his abilities. It also sheds any debuffs on Reaper and is still able to receive buffs and healing. Reaper is the lone wolf, built for pushing ahead on his own when possible and wandering through enemy territory, striking fear into their hearts and hitting them when they least expect it. He can bring down even the toughest heroes and can earn back the health he lost in combat from fallen opponents. His Story: Thanks to his military training, Reaper has a 'sixth sense' for danger. Due to experiments carried out by Dr. Moira O'Deorain, Reaper's cells simultaneously decay and regenerate at a hyper-accelerated rate. The process has been described as "molecular cleansing," where he is "wiped away piece by piece." One moment he may appear as flesh and blood, the next, as a cloud of black smoke, disjointed, but still in control of his molecules. Even after the complete destruction of his body, Reaper has been observed as being a "black mist," and is then able to regain physical form at a later point. He has described living in the condition as a form of "constant agony," though it is only through O'Deorain's experiments that he is able to stay alive. Because of these same treatments, Reaper finds it difficult to control his anger. He is sadistic but intelligent, with a keen sense of observation, and has talent in information-gathering. He prefers to operate behind the scenes. Reaper dual-wields Hellfire shotguns and is equipped with a specialized mask. While the latter has its practical uses, Reaper also keeps it on to hide is disfigured face, and to not be recognized by his former family. As Gabriel Reyes, he had a sense of honor that his later persona came to consider antiquated. As Reaper, Reyes believes in a "code of violence," which is, in his view, the only code the world respects. To this end, he is willing to work with Talon, believing in Doomfist's vision for a new world order. Pre-Crisis: Gabriel Reyes was born in Los Angeles, California. The Reyes family had lived in LA for generations after moving from Mexico to the US. His mother was a social worker, and his father operated his own convenience store. Both of Gabriel's parents were proud of their intelligent, athletic son, and supported his decision to join law enforcement after graduating college early with a degree in criminology. Reyes joined the Los Angeles Police Department. As a police officer, he participated in hundreds of violent crime arrests. Reyes fast-tracked his way into a detective posting, where he was able to hone his already keen sense of observation and talent for information-gathering. He came to realize that sometimes, the quieter work was essential to unraveling larger issues. However, despite all of his work in the force, the crime rate never seemed to decrease, leading him to believe that he would have to get to the source of the problem to truly destroy it. In his twenties, looking for a change of pace, Reyes enlisted in the United States Army, some nine years before the outbreak of the Omnic Crisis. Reyes did well and became known as a mustang, working his way up through the ranks before obtaining a senior officer's position, then veteran status, and was highly respected. He helped topple a number of authoritarian regimes but watched in dismay as mega-corporations took control and repeated the same abuses just to maximize profits. Time and again, Reyes watched as the innocent suffered while the elite's escaped prosecution. He took part in numerous extraction missions, though was was often tasked with simply extracting the target and handing them off to another party. Sometimes, to a fate "too ghastly to recall." Later, he became involved in matters of national security. Reyes later earned a coveted position in the government's controversial and classified (but widely acknowledged) Soldier Enhancement Program. Military scientists shaped Reyes and other inductees into the perfect soldiers, augmented with superhuman speed, strength, and agility. During the soldier enhancement program, Reyes was referred to as Soldier: 24. He made few friends among the other recruits. The Omnic Crisis/The Soldier Enhancement Program: Reyes was still part of the Soldier Enhancement Program when the Omnic Crisis began. He helped coordinate multiple early troop movements in response to Anubis's attacks, and fought fiercely against the proposal that all large urban meetings be ceded to Anubis. It was during one such comittee meeting that Reyes learned that both his parents had been killed in an assault on Los Angeles. Reyes became depressed, blaming tactical decisions he'd taken part in for the loss of his parents. He continued to train with other SEP candidates, but those who knew him during could tell that Reyes had become unfocused. He remained standoffish towards his fellow candidates, as he was aware of the probable outcomes that most of them would experience (death). However, Reyes did end up befriending one fellow candidate, Jack Morrison, designated Soldier: 76. Given how the SEP worked, this made Morrison the 76th candidate, and he was hazed for his high recruitment number, with many other candidates seeing his late enlistment as a sign of cowardice. Reyes was not among them, as he recognized Morrison's quiet determination that he judged would carry him through the enhancement process. Despite their different backgrounds, Reyes and Morrison became fast friends, and Reyes provided Morrison with emotional support as they both endured the seemingly endless barrage of medical experimentation. Eventually, the tests ended, and Reyes and Morrison emerged as super-soldiers, along with the minority of other candidates who'd survived the process. They left the Wheeler Facility 24 hours before being cleared for release, eager as they were to rejoin the fight. Technically, this meant they were already in the field before they were announced to the world (the only two candidates to be formally revealed). Reyes's first recorded action as a SEP member was the Battle of Echo Park, where he saved thousands of lives and drove the invading omnics back to Glendale. While in the SEP, Reyes tended to take on smaller, less flashy missions. However, he was still integral to the Program's public success. He enjoyed challenges that relied on stealth and intelligence, given his police background. Reyes during the Omnic Crisis: As governments tried and failed to neutralize the omnics, the United Nations was busy forming an international task force called Overwatch. Reyes and Morrison were both on the shortlist of prospective members. While Reyes was not the first person to be approached to lead its strike team, he was the first person to accept, thus becoming the first person to be recruited into Overwatch (officially), and ultimately, its first strike commander. Reyes accepted but was uneasy with the role. As a man who had always preferred to operate behind the scenes, he was ill-at-ease with the global attention. Morrison, who was recruited as Overwatch's second member, would have a greater impact on the group in the long term. He brought out the best in the people around him and helped mold Overwatch's diverse (and sometimes conflicting) agents into a cohesive fighting force. Operations: This section is a stub section. You can help by adding any available information to this section. Alongside Morrison and Ana Amari, Reyes took part in an operation at Rio de Janeiro. By this stage, the burden of leadership was beginning to get to him. In unity, they found the strength to defeat the robots and end the Omnic Crisis. Reorganization: After the Omnic Crisis, Morrison, because of the key role he played in shaping the group, was given the position of strike commander by the UN, the first, official commanding officer of Overwatch. Reyes was overlooked due to being "too rogue," along with his maverick leadership style. Ana Amari was of the opinion that Reyes was overlooked as Gabrielle Adawe felt that Morrison could lead rebuilding efforts better than him, further commenting that Morrison "looked the part" of a war hero. Despite losing his rank, Reyes was relieved that Morrison was given the position, preferring to be the number 2 rather than hold the more political position. Morrison told Reyes that they made the wrong choice, that Reyes should have been in charge, but regardless, Morrison retained the position. Reyes as a member of Blackwatch: Reyes became the commander of Overwatch's Blackwatch unit. After a sting operation that resulted in the apprehension of Cole Cassidy the leader of the Deadlock Gang, at the time Reyes visited the man, as he was impressed with his expert marksmanship and resourcefulness. Reyes gave Cassidy the choice between rotting in a maximum-security prison or joining Blackwatch. Cassidy chose the latter. Reyes gave him personal instruction. At some point, Reyes and Gerard Lacroix partook in an operation in Cape Town, where Lacroix apparently saved Reyes, though Reyes remained mute on what actually happened (though in recollection, apparently found the experience amusing). Another individual that Reyes recruited into Blackwatch was disgraced geneticist Moira O'Deorain, as he wanted someone who could advise him on genetics. O'Deorain's experiments on Reyes gave him supernatural abilities, including the ability to manipulate his form. Rome: Nine years before the present day, Talon appeared on Overwatch's radar. One year later, Reyes was in Rome's new Blackwatch facility alongside Cassidy to meet up with Gérard Lacroix, who was spearheading anti-Talon operations. Lacroix briefed them on Antonio, a Talon arms dealer who had links with the Italian government, and who was also behind a recent attack on Overwatch's Oslo facilities. Antonio was holed up in Rialto, a compound in Venice. Cassidy was all for a "road trip," but Lacroix pointed out that Antonio was too well connected and planned to play the long game in bringing Antonio to justice. Reyes agreed with Lacroix and left the building with Cassidy. Seconds after exiting, the building was destroyed in an explosion set by a Talon agent. Reyes and Cassidy rushed into the burning rubble to save whoever they could find, with Reyes pulling out Lacroix. Reyes was shaken by the event. Lacroix survived, and Ziegler informed him that he would make a full recovery, but at least 14 other agents and personnel weren't as lucky. At Overwatch Headquarters, he discussed the issue with Jack Morrison, and Morrison stated that they'd launch an official investigation. Reyes stated that Morrison's approach of "by the book" wasn't working, and that Antonio would weasel his way out of any proceedings launched at him. Reyes told Morrison that he wanted to apprehend Antonio to interrogate him, but Morrison pointed out that if such an operation was sanctioned, it would be a violation of Italy's sovereignty and would erode the public trust in Overwatch. Reyes agreed that officially Morrison could never do so, but Blackwatch could get it done with no public relations conflict. Morrison left the final choice with Reyes but asked him to seriously consider if it would help Overwatch keep the world safe in the long run. After silently thinking things over at Lacroix's bedside, Reyes decided to go ahead with the operation and took himself, Cassidy, O'Deorain, and Genji Shimada on that "road trip" that Cassidy had suggested back in Rome. Reyes planned to snatch Antonio from Venice for a few days of interrogation and use what he knew of Talon to hit the organization hard. Rialto: Arriving in Venice, Reyes and his team used the safehouse there and set up surveillance on Antonio's manor. It was heavily guarded by Talon soldiers, but when night fell, the unit moved in. The initial plan was to go in quietly, and in that, they succeeded, stealthily making their way to Antonio's office. Antonio, however, was unfazed, calling Reyes by name. He pointed out that Overwatch abducting a "respected businessman" would be a public relations nightmare, and even if they did take him, Antonio's "friends" would have him released within the week. Reyes, after some thought, said "you're right," and shot Antonio, sending his body flying out the office window, much to the consternation of Cassidy. This alerted the guards to their presence, and the Blackwatch team had to fight their way out of the manor. As they fought, Reyes and Cassidy continued to verbally spar over Reyes's actions. O'Deorain however, stated that Reyes had done the right thing. Reyes stated that he'd never apologized for anything before, and that he didn't intend to start now, someone had to get things done. The team succeeded in escaping the manor. In the aftermath, Morrison was incensed by Reyes's actions; the attack was reported in the press, and the existence of Blackwatch had been made public. Reyes was debriefed by Morrison, Ana Amari, and a recovered Lacroix. Morrison grilled Reyes in the debriefing, demanding to know what had actually happened. Reyes snidely responded to Morrison's demands but nonetheless recounted the Rialto mission. In his debrief, he pointed out that things don't always go according to plan and stood by the decisions he had made. Reyes and the others were put under suspension. Later: Seven years before the present day, Reyes and Morrison attended a briefing on the King's Row Uprising in Overwatch's headquarters. During the briefing, Blackwatch agent Cassidy reported on a developing hostage situation occurring at a power plant, despite the prime minister of England's demands that Overwatch remain out of the crisis. Angered by the breach of protocol, Reyes shrugged off Jack's accusing finger, stating that Cassidy was merely on "vacation," and that he was not tied down by the statute. He left the command room, stating that the Brits had this under control, snidely drawing reference to Morrison's statue in the headquarters's courtyard. The following day, a strike team sent in by Morrison arrived in King's Row. Reyes informed them that Blackwatch assets had reported that Null Sector had set up heavy fortifications, and they had tactical control of the area. Null Sector was defeated, but the events that transpired were classified within Overwatch's archives. Meeting Doomfist: A key point in Reyes's life was when he met Doomfist, after his apprehension in Singapore (an apprehension that Reyes played a role in), three weeks after his accountant was cornered in Havana, Cuba and cut a deal with Overwatch. While Reyes had some satisfaction in seeing Doomfist incarcerated, Doomfist himself was unperturbed, calmly pointing out the world's broken global order, and how he, in his own view, fought against it. Reyes had long held similar doubts, but maintained that one could recognize a flawed system without resorting to terrorism. Doomfist acknowledged the point, but asked Reyes what he'd accomplished in that regard, be it as a police officer, a soldier, or an agent of Overwatch. Reyes found himself unable to answer, and Doomfist asked another question, who was he really protecting? Again, Reyes couldn't answer, as he realized the truth in Doomfist's words. Of all the organizations he'd been part of, none of them had fixed the system. Not even Overwatch. It was in this moment that a seed of vengeance was planted in Reyes’s psyche. A seed that would give rise to Reaper. A ghost no longer subscribing to outdated notions of honor, but rather a new believer in a code of violence. The only code the world respected. Reflections: After Ana disappeared in an operation conducted in Poland, Reyes assigned Cassidy to find her. However, Overwatch was unable to find her. The End of Overwatch: Ultimately, Overwatch met its end through a combination of accusations that tainted the organization's reputation, and Reyes himself. Officially, Reyes and Morrison were killed in the blast that destroyed Overwatch's Swiss headquarters, an event the UN ruled as an accident. In reality, Overwatch had become split down the middle, with Reyes leading a rebellion against Morrison's leadership. As a battle was waged within the base, their fighting triggered an explosion that destroyed the facility. In his last moments, he saw the flash of ignition, felt the searing heat, saw the horror in Morrison's eyes, and then...darkness. As far as anyone knew, the explosion that consumed the structure took Reyes and Morrison into the inferno with it. To the present day, Reyes's true agenda remains unknown to the wider public. Resurrection: Reyes barely survived the blast and woke up to find Dr. O'Deorain standing over him. As Reyes drifted in and out of consciousness, Moira explained how she’d overloaded his body with a cocktail of experimental chemicals—an enhanced version of the substance that had first given him the ability to manipulate his form. She claimed he'd been so close to death that she was left with no other option. Reyes lay on the gurney, feeling a sense of indescribable detachment—as if his body were made of a silky molten metal that flowed between various states of matter. In one moment, he was flesh and blood; the next, he was a cluster of black smoke, aware of every molecule and yet terrified of losing command of it. Reyes looked at his arm, a torrent of ebon mist in the vague shape of an appendage. Internally, he screamed in horror, but a very small part of his brain was intrigued by it. He knew his power had grown, and his old life felt like a prologue. Reyes was left in a state of agony, and it was now much harder for him to control his anger, but thanks to O'Deorain, he was alive. Dr. O'Deorain's procedure had amplified his powers but had significantly destabilized his ability to control them. Reyes blamed Morrison for what had happened to him, and he didn't believe that his former friend had perished in the blast. He set out on a personal crusade to find Morrison and finish what had begun in Switzerland. Reaper: Reyes resurfaced as a volatile mercenary known as "Reaper." His identity and motives remained unknown. Now a ruthless and remorseless killer, he was responsible for terrorist attacks throughout the world. He fought in many armed conflicts throughout the 6 years since the blast, showing no loyalty to any cause or organization. Survivors described him as a black shadow ghosting unscathed through the most hellish battlefields. The few bodies recovered of his victims were pale, empty husks drained of life, their cells showing signs of intense degradation. It was speculated that Reaper was a byproduct of failed genetic alteration which forced his cells to simultaneously decay and regenerate at a hyper-accelerated rate. Those attempting to track his movements began to see a pattern in his appearances. They believed (correctly) that Reaper was hunting former Overwatch agents and systematically eliminating them. This was indeed the case, as Reaper carried a list of Overwatch agents that he intended on eliminating. Talon: One year after the destruction of Overwatch's HQ, Reaper joined Talon. While it suited his goals, he was perturbed by Talon's dynamic (or lack thereoff)—multiple people pursuing their own agendas that just happened to align. However, he shared Doomfist's goal of establishing a new world order and saw Talon as "the bullhorn for the voiceless." Code of Violence: Despite remaining incarcerated, Doomfist still had influence in Talon, and one year after Overwatch's end, he assigned Reaper to retrieve Dr. Siebren de Kuiper from a black site in New Mexico. Dropped off via dropship, he met with fellow Talon agent, Sombra. The two grated against each other immediately, Sombra's unorthodox methodology clashing with Reaper's military training. He wondered what Doomfist had told Sombra about him, and wondered who, if anyone, he could rely on within Talon. Infiltrating the base, Sombra triggered the alarm. Guards responded, but Reaper killed them quickly and efficiently. Part of Sombra's plan, apparently, as she used the distraction to hack the comms. terminal, cutting the base off from the outside world, along with determining the location of de Kuiper. They entered the site proper, though the tension between the two remained. Their goals were aligned for now, but what happened when they weren't? Inside the base, they encountered more guards which Reaper again easily killed, though not without unease, as he remembered that once, he too, had been a soldier in the US military. However, his doubt was dissolved as he remembered Doomfist's words, and by Sombra, who continued to grate on his nerves. Regardless, they entered the base's quantum chamber and found du Kuiper, but ended up drawing their guns on each other. It was broken up by Widowmaker, who led a Talon squad into the lab. Not that he'd known it, but it had been his and Sombra's job to clear a path for the extraction team. As Widowmaker explained, the mission had been too important to leave to amateurs. Reaper made his way out of the base, passing by the bodies of the fallen. He realized that he'd now crossed the line, and could no longer call himself morally superior to terrorists. As blurred as the line between heroism and criminality could be, he knew he'd stepped over it. As Widowmaker and Sombra boarded the extraction dropship, they both mocked him, telling the mercenary that he'd find his place in Talon, even if it was at Akende's feet. As his own dropship flew over the countryside, Reaper was left to reflect on what Talon actually was. Reprehensible, true, but decicive. A means to an end. As he took off his mask, feeling the wind sting his tortured flesh, the last embers of Gabriel Reyes died. The only thing that mattered was his need for justice. Something Doomfist required at his disposal if he was going to fix this broken world. Because now, it was all he had left to give. Watchpoint: Gibraltar: Alongside Talon operatives, Reaper entered Watchpoint: Gibraltar in an effort to gain a list of Overwatch agents. The Talon soldiers kept Winston occupied long enough for Reaper to begin downloading the agent database, but soon found themselves overpowered, forcing Reaper to enter the fray. He quickly incapacitated Winston, and mocked the ape that he'd send his fellow agents his regards. Winston stunned Reaper by activating a shield device that detonated, and then used his Tesla Cannon on Reaper, incinerating him. Yet despite this, a cloud of black mist was seen leaving the base awhile later. In truth, Reaper not only survived Winston's cannon, but had managed to gain access to a portion of the database. He used the data to eliminate a number of Overwatch agents. Doomfist's Gauntlet: Having regained physical form, Reaper teamed up with Widowmaker in order to steal Doomfist's gauntlet but was hampered by former Overwatch agents Tracer and Winston. While he initially held the advantage, breaking Winston's glasses was enough to send the ape into a berserk fury, and Reaper and Widowmaker were forced to retreat without the device, having been used by a bystander to punch Widowmaker which ended up damaging the gauntlet, their foes hot on their heels. Old Soldiers: Reaper was present in Egypt while Hakim was trying to set a trap for Morrison, now waging a one-man war as "Soldier: 76." Hakim's compound came under attack by Morrison, though Reaper managed to get the jump on his old nemesis, shooting him in the back. Before he could finish off Morrison, he was interrupted by Ana Amari, another former Overwatch operative. She healed Morrison through her biotic rifle, and Reaper and Morrison engaged in a fist fight. Reaper was again able to incapacitate Morrison, and engaged in a dual with Ana, bitterly commenting that he shouldn't be surprised, that Ana had always taken Jack's side during their days in Overwatch. In the fight, Ana pulled off his mask, revealing his identity as Gabriel Reyes, and his disfigured face. Reaper faded away, commenting that Overwatch had left him to die, and that Ana should never forget what happened to him. Valkyrie: Reaper led a Talon assault on the Temple of Anubis in Egypt. In the ensuing battle against the HSI forces, Talon also had to contend with Morrison and Ana resurfacing. Morrison apparently engaged Reaper, but when asked about what happened, simply commented "old soldiers are hard to kill." Reaper apparently headed for Europe after the attack. Infiltration: Reaper worked with Widowmaker and Sombra in a mission to assassinate Katya Volskaya, the CEO of Volskaya Industries, on the orders of Vialli. Sombra hacked the site's systems, allowing Reaper to bypass the factory's defenses and get within striking distance of the target, though it would be Widowmaker who would take the shot. The operation went awry when an alarm was sounded, and Widowmaker missed her shot in the commotion. Reaper ordered her to hold the perimeter while he entered the factory, guns blazing, killing numerous guards. He was confronted by a mech, which temporarily incapacitated him, and he ordered that Sombra take out the target. Reaper was able to reduce the mech to a pile of scrap, but Sombra reported that Katya had escaped. Furious, Reaper ordered that the agents return to the ship. He walked off, throwing away his shotguns in frustration. In truth, Sombra had let Volskaya live, in an attempt to gain leverage over her due to her dealings with the omnics. Reaper later developed suspicions about her actions with Volskaya, possibly learning the truth in its entirety. Prison Break: Reaper was able to gain access to a Helix Securities maximum security prison, using an aircraft that was able to penetrate the base's defenses, likely due to Talon moles within Helix. Once inside the base's perimeter, Reaper headed to the prison grounds. He killed over a dozen of the base's security agents, before breaking out Doomfist, as well as possibly other inmates. Masquerade: Away from the base, Doomfist and Reaper discussed recent Talon operations, such as the assassination of Mondatta, and the failed assassination of Volskaya. He discussed his list with Doomfist, and how Morrison and Ana were still on it. When asked if that was due to sentimentality on his part, Reaper denied it. He helped set Doomfist up with Maximilien in Monaco, where Vialli sent some of his men to assassinate Doomfist. The attempt failed, and Reaper, along with Doomfist, Widowmaker, and Sombra, headed for Venice. There, they killed Vialli's men, while Doomfist killed Vialli himself. Afterwards, Doomfist and Reaper met with Talon's inner council, where Doomfist declared his intention to start a war. A Great Day: After Null Sector's failed attack on Gothenburg, the command ship that had led the attack crashed in the sea while on its way back to base. Doomfist sent Reaper, Sombra, and Mauga to infiltrate the ship and retrieve power relay data for a device Talon was building. After entering the ship, the carrier's dormant Nulltroopers activated, forcing Reaper and Sombra to fight their way through them to a room where Sombra could perform her hack. Mauga asked if they were "taking suggestions," but Reaper ordered him to hold the perimeter. Mauga did no such thing however as he ran off, apparently pursuing his own agenda. An irate Reaper drew his shotgun on him but was forced to deal with the attacking Nulltroopers instead as Sombra continued to hack the ship's systems. The ship began to sink, and Reaper told Sombra they were out of time. She refused to leave, stating that she wouldn't leave without the data. Reaper accepted and used his wraith form to exfiltrate the ship and enter the dropship. He took off, with Mauga and Sombra getting onboard on time before the command ship sank into the ocean. Having completed the mission, an irate Doomfist contacted the team, demanding an explanation as to why a covert op had resulted in the complete destruction of the carrier. Sombra explained what had happened, pinning the blame on Mauga. Having heard her account, Doomfist ordered Sombra to execute Mauga, or meet the same fate. Reaper offered to be the executioner, but Sombra refused, and headed into the back of the ship to do the deed herself. However, Mauga escaped execution, as he revealed the reasons for his actions, and handed Sombra the ship's actual power relay.
