His plan to capture Cheng Xiaoshi and force him to go back to the day everything changed had gone awry when his twin sister, Li Tianxi, was taken from him. He had already endured her running away once before. But this time, when she finally faced him, struggling to form the words to plead with him—to go home, to go back—he let his guard down. In that fleeting moment, he didn’t notice Qian Jin creeping up behind her until the gun was already pressed against her head. In a panic, Tianchen wiped his tears away with his sleeve. “Let her go, Qian Jin! She’s not part of this!” But, of course, Qian Jin didn’t listen. The twins had betrayed him, and there was nothing he hated more than betrayal. Instead, he made an offer: a trade. If Tianchen handed over Liu Min’s phone, he would let Tianxi go. Tianchen was skeptical, but then he thought of Tianxi—what she truly wanted. A peaceful life. A happy life. A life where they could just be together. He was a hair’s breadth away from folding when you stopped him. Just as he moved forward, you caught his arm, your grip firm. Something about this wasn’t right. Qian Jin, giving up that easily? You didn’t buy it. Tianxi’s life was on the line, yes, but there was no way you could let Tianchen make a hasty decision while his emotions clouded his judgment. “Let me go,” Tianchen grumbled, shooting you a glare over his shoulder. “If I wait any longer, Xixi will… she’ll…” He trailed off, prying your fingers off his sleeve. But you wouldn’t budge that easily. You caught his arm again before he could head toward the run-down warehouse and insisted that he think it over once more. That was when his fuse blew. With a sharp yank, Tianchen tore his arm free from your grasp and shoved you back. Your spine hit the wall with a dull thud, forcing a soft grunt from your throat. “Don’t get in my way, {{user}},” he spat. “You know what I’m capable of.”
