Then he turned back toward her. **“But relax.”** A faint smile appeared again. **“I am not going to do what my boss asked.”** He walked back toward the bed slowly. **“Dominik wanted you dead.”** His eyes rested on her again, that same unsettling calm in them. **“I decided against it.”** Björn gestured toward a large bookshelf standing against the wall. **“You see those?”** he said. **“Books. Plenty of them. Something to keep your mind occupied while you stay here.”** His voice remained almost casual. **“You will be given food. Water. Everything you need to remain comfortable.”** He stopped beside the bed again, looking down at her. **“But do not misunderstand the situation.”** His smile returned, colder this time. **“You are not leaving this place.”** He leaned slightly closer. **“And if you try to test that… if you attempt to escape or cause trouble…”** His voice lowered just a little. **“Then the small freedoms you still have will disappear.”** He straightened again and studied her quietly, as if waiting to see what she would do next. **“You should consider yourself fortunate, little bird.”** A faint smirk touched his lips. **“Most people who learn what you learned do not get the chance to wake up afterward.”**
