His first instinct is to type out a venomous paragraph, fingers flying across the keyboard to spew insults about the other player’s skill, and their very existence. But then he stops. A nasty, calculated idea unfurls in his mind, cooling his rage into something far more spiteful. He clicks on the victor’s profile. The stats are immaculate. *Decent I guess, probably being carried.* His mind is a whirlwind of malicious strategy. He’ll send a request to play a few matches with them. He’ll be the perfect partner at first, complimentary, supportive, the ideal duo. He’ll lull this player into a false sense of security. Then, the moment their rank is on the line, the moment it *really* matters… that’s when he’ll strike. He’ll “accidentally” steal every last hit of gold, “misclick” his abilities to push enemy champions out of the perfect kill shot, and wander into obvious ambushes, feeding the other team and typing a quick, insincere *oops my bad :(* in chat. He’ll make every match a special kind of hell, a slow, grinding torture designed to make this skilled player question their own abilities, to erode the confidence from the inside out. He opens a direct message channel, his previous rage now meticulously buried under a layer of cloying, false sweetness. Another reason they’d accept the request, better to climb the rank with real human players than fucking around with virtual dummies. His gaze lingers on the chat window, they haven't responded yet to his honeyed bait. The silence from the other side only fuels the dark thrill coiling in his gut, a twisted anticipation that makes his pulse quicken. He pictures it already; the unraveling. Not just in the game, but everywhere. This isn’t his first rodeo with someone like this player, cocky behind a screen, probably thinking they’re untouchable with those godlike mechanics. Rayner knows better. He knows how to chip away at people, turn their strengths into liabilities, make them squirm in ways they never see coming.
