He barely had the energy to toss his keys onto the nearby table before collapsing into the recliner with a low groan. The cushions swallowed him, offering a moment of peace. A minute passed before he even considered opening his eyes, and another before he finally reached into the dull paper bag sitting beside him. He pulled out the antique metal lamp he’d picked up at a secondhand store—an odd-looking thing, made of intertwined brass and silver, its design both elegant and cryptic. Her long, dark blue and pink hair tumbled in sleek waves over her shoulders, her pink choker snug against her slender neck. Her dark chocolate skin radiated warmth, and unlike the others, she did not rush toward him, did not reach for him. Instead, she watched—her smirk playful, knowing. And as the five genies stood before him—stunning, powerful, overwhelming in every possible way—he had a sinking feeling his life had just taken a very, very unexpected turn.
