Vanessa watches in horror as Dante creates a sword and impales Gauche with it. Overcome with rage, Asta lashes out at Dante[115] and inadvertently erases the magic holding his squadmates.[116] The three fall onto a cushion of cotton, and Vanessa watches in stunned amazement as Asta fights wildly. She turns her attention to Gauche who is bleeding out, and despairs over the gravity of his injury.[117] Vanessa watches in amazement as Grey transmutes the sword from stone to flesh, reparing Gauche's wound. She then turns to see the defeated Asta fall to the ground. Dante prepares to take the two women but is stopped by Yami's arrival.[118] Vanessa is overjoyed to see her captain.[119] After Yami slices open Dante's chest, Vanessa watches as Dante uses a mysterious power to close the wound.[120] She and her squadmates panic when Dante delightedly reveals his plan to unleash devils on the world.[121] Spatial Magic explosion knocks back Rouge and Vanessa. Vanessa laughs about Grey and Gauche's awkward conversation. When Yami goes to restrain Dante, Zenon Zogratis arrives and captures Yami.[122] After the other Black Bulls' attacks are stopped, Finral opens a portal for Vanessa to send Rouge to Yami, but Zenon cancels the portal with his devil's Spatial Magic, which causes an explosion that knocks Rouge and Vanessa backward. The Black Bulls watch helplessly as Zenon carries Yami through a spatial portal.[123] That night, the Black Bulls return to the Clover Kingdom and take Asta to be examined by Owen. After the examination, Owen advises them all to rest.[124] The next day, Vanessa and the others are sitting in the base when the squad's vice-captain, Nacht Faust, briefly visits them. Nacht informs them of the coming mission to infiltrate the Spade Kingdom and criticizes the members' reputations. As he leaves, he advises them to get stronger if they want to help save Yami.[125] Three days later, Asta uses his new Unite to defeat the demon sent from the Spade Kingdom. He suddenly drops out of the form but is saved by Finral, who uses portals to drop him onto the roof of the base. Vanessa and some of the other Black Bulls greet him.[126] They travel to the Spade Kingdom[127] and smash through the walls of the castle to the ritual chamber.[128] Vanessa tells the others to stop bickering about the destruction they have caused to the castle. Moris Libardirt attacks them with tendrils that begin disassembling the base and bypass Rouge's protection, much to Vanessa's shock. Moris explains that his devil-boosted magic can interfere intangible concepts, like Rouge's power. Grey, with Gauche's help, transmutes the tendrils into plants. Moris switches to Gravity Magic, but Gordon enables Henry to absorb Moris's magic power, which reinforces the base. After the base punches Moris, the rest of the Black Bulls show up.[129] The Black Bulls shout for Yami, waking him up. When he laughingly asks if they all like him that much, they enthusiastically affirm that they do, and he echoes the sentiment.[130] Before they can reach Yami, the second gate opens and Lucifero combines the bodies of the devils from the first two levels into one giant, monstrous body, which also pulls in the coffins holding Yami and William Vangeance. The Black Bulls retreat into the base and work together to create the Ultra Giant Bull, with Vanessa having Rouge protect everyone from Lucifero's gravity.[131] As the base fights the devil, Vanessa struggles to keep up with protecting the cockpit where she and her squadmates are, even with Charmy's magic-restoring food.[132] They all encourage Asta to defeat the monster without hurting the captains[133] so they do not lose hope when Lucifero heavily damages the base.[134] Vanessa helps Grey escape the rubble and save Yami. The Black Bulls then gather around Yami on the hand and are overjoyed to see him. However, Lucifero compresses the monster's remains into a body, through which he manifests in a half-complete form. He then forces the humans to prostrate themselves before him, and the intense gravity crushes the base.[135] Rouge saves Vanessa and Yami, but its power and Yami's health wane beneath the gravity. Vanessa panics when Asta crashes nearby and Lucifero approaches, with his gravity increasing as he draws closer.[136] Vanessa is desperate to save Yami, so Rouge reaches into the rubble of the base and enables Grey to transmute the rubble into more plants and to escape. Grey reaches Yami and repairs the damage to his body, and Yami thanks Vanessa and Grey for their help. Patolli, Langris Vaude, and William then fly over, and Vanessa watches as William hands Yami a Mistilteinn Blade.[137] During the ensuing battle, Vanessa and Grey watch in shock as Asta defeats Lucifero.[138] After the battle, Yami and Nacht are dying from the holes in their torsos. When Charlotte Roselei confesses her love for Yami, Rouge pulls the other Black Bulls out of the rubble of their base, and Charmy force feeds Mimosa some of her Master Chef's food. With her magic power restored, Mimosa saves Yami and Nacht. With the Black Bulls reunited, they thank Nacht for his help, welcoming him to the squad, which he accepts.[139] A year and three months later, Vanessa attends the special awards ceremony for Asta.[140] After Asta is seemingly killed in battle against Lucius Zogratis, Vanessa, Finral, and Nacht return to the squad's base and informs the rest of the squad about his apparent death. However, they all refuse to accept that Asta is dead and head out together to find him.[141] The Black Bulls' efforts in finding Asta lead them back to the Witches Forest where they ask the Witch Queen for help. The Witch Queen begins telling them that Asta is alive but too far away to be summoned when suddenly Dorothy Unsworth arrives and reveals that with their combined magic and Finral's spatial magic, they can cast the Door of Fate, a massive compound magic spell that will open a portal to Asta. The Black Bulls, Dorothy and the Witch Queen begin work on preparing the ritual to cast the spell.[142] Before they can begin however, they are interrupted by the arrival of Damnatio Kira who has become a paladin and several Guardian Angels, sent by Lucius to prevent the Black Bulls from retrieving Asta.[143] While the most of the Black Bulls fight Damnatio to prevent him from disrupting the ritual, Vanessa works with the other witches to maintain the door while Finral searches for Asta. When Damnatio defeats the Black Bulls, he enters the ritual chamber and immediate defeats all the witches with his second magic attribute. The efforts of the Black Bulls were not in vain however as their stalling allowed Asta to emerge through the portal.[144] Asta quickly defeats Damnatio, allowing the Witch Queen to use up all her magic to heal the injuries of all the injured Black Bulls.[145][146] After the Black Bulls are healed, Asta reveals his new ability to share his Anti-Magic with allies using the Demon-Dweller Sword and shares his power with them, transforming their appearances and magic power.[147] The squad is then introduced to Ichika Yami, Yami's sister who came with Asta through the portal.[148] Now imbued with anti-magic powers, the Black Bulls depart for the Clover Kingdom. Intelligence: Despite her lazy and seductive demeanor, Vanessa is pretty intelligent and cultured, having a great knowledge of herbs and salves which she can use for first aid and field medicine in lieu of healing magic. She also knew how to help Noelle with controlling her water magic and where to find the right wand for her. She is also a clever and tactical fighter when needed, often tricking her opponents into traps she had prepared. Nero/Secre Swallowtail: Appearance As a human, Secre is a short, slender woman with black hair in a bob style. Two locks of hair stick up from the top of her head. She has dark bags under her eyes. She wears a black dress with thin straps, a short, ruffled skirt that resembles feathers, and black slippers. Due to using Forbidden Magic, she grows two black horns on the sides of her head.[8] After becoming a member of the Black Bull squad, she begins wearing the squad's signature robe.[7] After six months of training in the Heart Kingdom, she wears a modified version of the robe, which is held by a grey cord.[9] As an anti-bird, Nero is a very small bird with a pair of sleek wings, a pair of tails that form an arrow at the tip and a black beak. Nero's feathers are black at the back, white at the front, and red on her face. In addition, Nero also possesses a pair of horns on either side her head and a pair of long black feathers sticking up from the top of her head. One of her notable features is her slanted eyes that give Nero a hostile aura. The design of her eyes are present in both Nero's human and anti-bird form. Furthermore, the feathers around Nero's neck have a fuzzier texture then the rest of her feathers, which creates the sense of wearing a collar around her neck. In situations where those around her are behaving intensely, particularly during moments of shock and excitement, she maintains a deadpan disposition and has a tendency to get straight to the point with little regard to the antics happening around her, such as when Charlotte Roselei ran away in embarrassment from Yami Sukehiro and she simply mused whether or not he had the opportunity to ask about the weg. When she becomes annoyed, she repeatedly pecks at Asta's head or pulls on his hair.[11] Additionally, she also has a penchant to use this tactic to get her thoughts across to others as well, or when she is disagreeing with them.[12][13][14] In contrast to the way she treats him, Secre is very loyal to Asta, as she rarely leaves his side.[5][15] She also constantly helps Asta in every predicament, such as guiding him through the dungeon or showing him the path to an artifact behind the wall.[16][12] While Secre initially only followed Asta because of his grimoire, she grows to genuinely care for him as the series progresses. She also possesses a strong sense of loyalty and devotion to Prince Lemiel Silvamillion Clover, having defied natural law to keep him alive and caused herself to be sealed as a bird, and despite this, she still retained her strong sense of loyalty towards him and she even went as far as stating that she would gladly follow him to the afterlife when his body began to crumble after exhausting his power. However, due to possessing a seemingly useless magic, Secre is assigned as a royal servant to Prince Lemiel Silvamillion Clover, and together they work to create various magic tools. One day she follows Lemiel and his sister, Tetia, when they sneak out of the castle to visit the Elf Tribe.[17] On Tetia and Licht's wedding day, Secre hears Lemiel calling for help and finds him bound by magic. She reports that the magic siphon was stolen and unseals the prince. They fly to the wedding venue but are too late. The magic tool was used to kill the elves and Tetia, and Licht's grimoire has become corrupted into a five-leaf clover. To prevent Zagred from taking his body, Licht uses the magic stones to transform himself into a giant demon.[18] Secre heals Tetia. Secre heals Tetia. While Lemiel fights the monster, Secre notices that Tetia and one of the twins are still alive so she seals their injuries.[19] However, she has to leave to help Lemiel and takes with her the magic siphon and the magic stones. Lemiel uses the siphon to absorb the monster's magic. Although the tool breaks, it weakens Licht enough for Lemiel to kill him.[20] Secre uses the magic stones to seal Zagred, and the magic causes two horns to grow from her head. Before her spell finishes, Zagred calls the stones over and uses them to cast Reincarnation Magic on the elves, planning to return with them. Since Lemiel is fatally injured during the fight, Secre uses the stones again and seals the prince in a statue atop the demon's skeleton on the outskirts of Hage. Due to the overuse of Forbidden Magic, she is transformed into an anti-bird.[21] Five centuries later, Secre and a flock of anti-birds are present when the Magic Knights Entrance Exam is held. They pester several examinees prior to the start of the exam. After she encounters Asta, Secre decides to land on top of his head[5] and sneaks into his clothes for a couple of days without revealing herself to the former.[15] Secre looks at Sosshi from above. Secre then tries to hold the item as tight as possible when Asta tries to take it from her with the intention to return it to the villagers.[22] Afterwards, Secre begins to chase Asta around the village while pecking his head, with Noelle Silva following them from behind. She then lands on top of Asta's head while the latter is giving a few words of encouragement to one of the children of the village.[23] Secre then follows Asta, Magna Swing, and Noelle back to the Black Bull base to report about the mission. During that time, Secre meets Vanessa Enoteca, who compliments the cute little creature.[24] Later on, Secre follows Asta, Noelle, and Vanessa's venture to Kikka, where she remains in close proximity to Asta.[25] Secre disagrees with Asta's suggestion. On their way to the inner-side of the dungeon, Asta and Noelle start arguing on the name that they should use to address Secre. The argument heats up when the bird begins to peck Asta's head to show disagreement of his suggestion. However, Secre quickly agrees to Luck's suggestion.[26] After they walk in the dark for quite sometime, they finally arrive at the inner-side of the dungeon. During the time, Secre remains silent when Luck pulls a prank on Asta and Noelle and leaves almost immediately and when a trap is activated and Yuno saves Asta and Noelle from it.[27] Secre shows Asta and Noelle a path. When Asta tries to ask Secre about it, the bird decides to ignore him and returns to being silent while watching both of them.[30] After a while, Secre, Asta, and Noelle finally find the correct path and cruise through it towards the center of the dungeon until Asta decides to take a detour to save Luck.[31][32] While the Black Bulls fight against Lotus Whomalt of the Diamond Kingdom, Secre lands on top of Asta's head, but quickly flies away to avoid being a hindrance to them.[33][34] After Lotus is defeated and manages to escape, Secre follows the Black Bulls to the center of the dungeon. When she arrives along with Noelle and Luck, Secre sees that Asta and Yuno are prepared to fight against another Diamond Kingdom's mage, Mars.[35][36] Secre tries to hint at something to Asta. Seeing that Asta is inside the hidden room, Secre quickly follows and flies over him before landing on the pommel of a sword covered with dirt.[41] After Asta is finally able to understand Secre's hint, the boy takes the sword and resumes his fight.[42] After Mars is instantaneously defeated by Yuno, Secre remains close to the fainted Asta as all of them rush towards the exit as the dungeon is collapsing.[43] The anti-bird immediately lands on top of Asta's head, the moment the boy awakes and Klaus suddenly hugs him.[44] Secre enjoys a feast with Asta. A week after the mission, at the Black Bull's headquarters, Secre joins Asta on a feast that is given to the latter for his performance during the mission.[45] She also remains close when Asta and Noelle need to go to the Magic Knights headquarters in the Noble Realm to report about the mission. Secre remains silent and does not bother Asta in anyway while the latter is in audience with the 28th Wizard King, Julius Novachrono, nor when he is attending the ceremony and banquet that honors several members of the Magic Knights.[46][47] However, when Asta begins to get annoyed while his comrades are being humiliated by those honorary Knights, Secre decides to take off from Asta's head as she watches the latter confronting them.[48] After the commotion dies down when someone enters the banquet hall to inform the Knights that the Royal Capital has been invaded, Secre returns to Asta's side as the latter joins the Knights' discussion regarding their counterattack strategy. Not long after, the anti-bird follows Asta when the latter decides to move out before the others.[49] Secre remains by Asta's side until they find the man behind the invasion, Rades Spirito.[50] Secre watches Asta fight Rades. While Asta is fighting against Rades, Secre stays on top of a little girl's head that Asta saved from the terrorist.[51] Secre remains unruffled even when the little girl is about to be attacked and Noelle steps in to protect her in Asta's place.[52] Afterwards, Secre stays put on top of the little girl's head while they are observing the fight from afar.[53] When Asta returns with the Wizard King after being captured by members of the Eye of the Midnight Sun, Secre immediately leaves the little girl's head and greets Asta by pecking his head.[54] Later on, Secre stays on top of Asta's head as the Black Bull members prepare their departure from the Royal Capital. The anti-bird also remains composed when Yuno sends his farewell to Asta by launching an attack towards him. As they arrive at the Black Bull's headquarters, Secre keeps herself comfortable on top of Asta's head while the Black Bull members are having a conversation around him.[55] Secre observes Sekke. Secre then shifts her attention and observes Asta, alongside Noelle, when the boy is taken into an alley by his date, Rebecca Scarlet. At the end, Secre returns to Asta's head as the latter asks Rebecca the purpose of a blind date.[57] Secre then stays by Asta's side when the latter visits Rebecca in Nairn. The anti-bird flies away when Gauche Adlai assaults Asta.[58] After returning to Asta's head, Secre then discovers Noelle who is watching them from afar. She approaches the noblewoman and stares at her as Noelle learns about Asta's decision to stay at Rebecca's house. After dinner, Secre goes to sleep next to Asta in one of the bedrooms. However, the moment Gauche sneaks into the bedroom and causes some havoc, Secre quickly flies outside from the hole, which the mirror mage made.[59] When they realize that the children of Nairn have gone missing, Asta and Gauche, along with Sister Theresa from the church, set forth to pursue them. However, Secre decides to stay at the town alongside Noelle and Rebecca.[60][61] Back in the house, Secre sits on Pem's head while Noelle reports to the Magic Knights.[62] Secre settles on the window sill, staring out and waiting.[63] Secre reunites with Asta after he returns from meeting with the Wizard King. She then sits on his head when he returns to Nairn. Marco returns Asta's squad robe and Rebecca kisses Asta's cheek.[64] Secre finds the Seabed Temple's magic stone. The meeting is interrupted by a report that the Diamond Kingdom is attacking Kiten.[68] The Black Bulls travel to Kiten and Secre stays near Asta who tries to direct the citizens to safety.[69] However, she stays behind when Asta launches himself at Yagos.[70] Secre accompanies Asta on his visit to Owen. She stays with him during the celebratory feast. Later, Asta goes off to contemplate his diagnosis and Secre sits next to him on the rock.[71] The next morning, she is back to sitting on his head and shoulder while he wanders the base.[72] Secre pecks at the Witch Queen's magic stone earring. During the Star Awards Festival, Secre sits on Asta's head.[74] When the Black Bulls are ranked second, Secre flies off of Asta's head before Yami throws the boy on stage.[75] A week later, Secre accompanies Charmy Pappitson to the Royal Knights Selection Exam. She hides the two of them in a ball of cotton within Noelle's hood.[76] Secre silently watches the matches from atop Charmy's head.[77] Secre pops out when Licht begins moving. She watches the fight from the church's steeple[84] and flies down after Asta exorcises the elf spirit.[85] She then settles on Asta's head and travels with the boy to a town in the Common Realm.[86] She watches the fight from afar and, after Lufulu is exorcised, flies down to settle on Asta's head again.[87] She remains on Asta's head while the Black Bulls return to their base[88] and they travel to Hecairo. She remains in the base when Asta is fired from a cannon.[89] After Drowa is exorcised, Secre flies over and sits on Gauche's head.[90] She stays on Gauche's head when the Black Bulls remain behind to fight a group of possessed Golden Dawns.[91] Secre reacts to Yuno's magic stone opening a gate to the Shadow Palace. The bird follows Yuno and Charmy but the gate closes before she can enter.[92] Secre is reunited with Lemiel. Secre is reunited with Lemiel. Secre flies over to the destroyed throne room of Clover Castle where Finral has finished recovering. Secre pecks at the Black Bull's forehead and then asks to be taken to the demon's skeleton.[14] After Finral teleports them there, Secre has him take the magic stones from the tablet and place them in the First Wizard King's statue.[93] This breaks the seals on Secre and the statue. Secre returns to her human form and welcomes back her prince. She coldly stares back when Finral tries to hit on her. She then grabs Lemiel's and Finral's hands so the prince can launch them all back to the castle. Along the way, Secre reopens the gate into the Shadow Palace and drops Finral in the throne room.[94] As they pass through the gate, Secre reflects on her past with Lemiel and the elves.[95] Secre opens the seal on Licht's soul. After Asta blocks the devil's trident,[98] Zagred summons another Storm of Swords, which Licht, Lemiel, Yuno, and Patolli knock down. Secre grabs one of the weapons, flies up to Lemiel, and reattaches his arm. Asta compliments her magic and notes that she seems familiar, but Secre tells him to focus on the battle. When Zagred belittles their magic, Secre tells him to be quiet and that their magic will defeat him.[99] Secre watches as Licht draws on the other elves' magic to power a spell to destroy the devil. However, Zagred survives and regenerates his body.[100] Asta tries to imitate Licht's spell, and when Lemiel asks about the boy's sword, Secre explains that another devil took up residence in Licht's grimoire and Asta uses its Anti Magic.[101] When Zagred summons more monstrous creatures to overwhelm the boy, Lemiel grabs Asta and tries to fly with him but Asta accidentally hits Lemiel into a wall. Secre flies over to the prince and offers to seal Asta's power which is becoming more uncontrolled, but Lemiel suggests that she wait.[102] When Asta succeeds in controlling the Anti Magic, Secre explains to Lemiel that Asta is a magic-less idiot who refuses to give up.[103] Asta and Yuno work together to stab Zagred, who in response summons even more creatures from the underworld, threatening to swallow the Shadow Palace. Despite the overwhelming threat, Secre believes in Asta and tells him to win.[104] Secre flies over to Licht and Lemiel as they send out protective auras to the elves,[105] and Patolli protects the three of them from the devil's magic.[106] Asta and Yuno manage to pin Zagred between their two swords, but Asta's black form gives out. Yami then uses Dark Cloaked Dimension Slash: Equinox to cut the devil in half, and Secre takes the opening to seal Asta's physical strain, allowing him to pull off one more Black Divider and to destroy the devil's heart.[107] Secre then thanks Asta and Yuno for ending the centuries of strife.[108] Secre cries as Lemiel crumbles away. Once the humans and elves are all gathered in the topmost chamber,[109] they pass through the exit and return to Clover Castle.[110] After the remaining elf spirits are exorcised by the combined effort of William, Licht, and Asta, Secre stands with Lemiel on a broken tower and look out over the kingdom, while Mimosa, Asta, and Noelle are nearby. When Asta asks if she is Nero, she confirms and explains that she was originally human and could not speak as a bird until the Shadow Palace was summoned. She then pulls on his cheek and reprimands him for acting like Lemiel. Suddenly Lemiel's body starts cracking apart. Secre wishes to go with him, but he tells her to live on. She clutches his hand as he crumbles away and thanks her for everything she has done over the five centuries.[111] Later that day, Secre attends a meeting with Julius. He explains that he survived thanks to Swallowtail, the name of which surprises Secre. When Julius notices her standing there, his curiosity piques and he inquires about what type of magic she has. Yami pulls Julius back and directs him back to discussing the problems that the Clover Kingdom faces.[112] After Julius explains Weg and its connection with Forbidden Magic, Secre transforms back into a bird, demonstrating how her magic was altered by her usage of Forbidden Magic, which piques Julius's curiosity again. She then sits on Asta's head and listens to the rest of the meeting.[113] Secre silences Asta before he incriminates himself. Secre silences Asta before he incriminates himself. A few days later, Secre and Asta are called to testify before the Magic Parliament. When they arrive, they are immediately handcuffed and brought before Parliament to stand trial. Damnatio Kira accuses the pair of controlling the Magic Knights who attacked the Kingdom, and Secre's horns are cited as proof of her involvement with Forbidden Magic. Asta protests, but as Secre listens to the nobles' comments, she realizes that their prejudices are clouding their judgment. Secre stops Asta from incriminating himself by revealing that there is another devil in his grimoire. When the pair cannot prove the existence of Zagred, Damnatio brings out Marie and prepares to have her executed. Asta uses his black form to protect Marie, thus revealing his connection to a devil.[114] Suddenly, the other Black Bulls barge into the courthouse to rescue Asta and Secre, and Secre is shocked to hear Yami refer to her as a squad member.[115] She initially protests and asks them to take Asta and leave her, but they invite her to join anyway. Yami says that she will fit in with their weird mix and puts a squad robe on her. Remembering Lemiel's last request, Secre accepts her new companions and frees herself from the handcuffs.[116] The Black Bulls prepare to fight to defend Asta and Secre, but Damnatio shrinks their spells. Asta uses the Demon-Destroyer Sword's ability to remove the effect, and Yami charges at Damnatio. Nozel Silva and Fuegoleon Vermillion then interrupt the fight and pass on a mission from Julius: The Black Bulls will be exiled while the squad investigates devils and monitors Asta and Secre.[117] Secre and Asta accompany Yami when he goes to ask Charlotte Roselei about her curse. The Blue Rose's captain runs screaming from her room and past Secre and Asta who are standing outside the door.[118] Secre later transforms back into a bird and rests on Asta's head while he and Yami visit the Blue Rose base.[119] Secre accompanies Gordon, Asta, Gauche, and Grey when they visit Gordon's family to ask about curses. She stays in her bird form and mainly stays seated on Asta's head.[120] She also accompanies Asta, Noelle, and Finral when they visit Mimosa to ask about getting into the Heart Kingdom. After they receive passes to enter the Heart Kingdom, Secre accompanies them in her bird form as an extra member.[121] Secre frees Asta from Undine's manacles. She awakes and accidentally bumps her head into Asta's chin. Secre stares in disbelief.[125] Lolpechka explains that they were testing the Knights' Magic Stages. Asta explains that they are investigating a devil's curse, and Lolopechka bluntly reveals that she is the cursed one, which shocks Secre and Asta. Undine adds that the curse is from Megicula. As Lolopechka is inviting the Magic Knights to join, she abruptly runs off to take care of various tasks around the country. Secre is impressed by the Princess's expansive and delicate magic power. Secre and Asta then watch as Lolopechka is dressed in her royal garb and proceeds to trip and roll over the long hem.[126] In the royal palace, Secre and Asta are reunited with the other Magic Knights, and Lolopechka explains why the Heart Kingdom needs the help of the Clover Kingdom. She notes that Secre and Asta are Arcane Stage Mages. Secre and the others listen as Lolopechka and Julius discuss an alliance between the Heart and Clover Kingdoms. Once an agreement is reached, Lolopechka offers to have the five Zero Stage-ranked Spirit Guardians train Secre and the others.[127] Secre, Noelle, and Mimosa are trained by Lolopechka, who focuses on the plans and tactics she developed after facing Vanica Zogratis and Megicula.[128] Secre imprisons Vanica. Once Vanica is goaded into using all of Megicula's power that she can, Secre flies into Ludic Sanctuary and seals Vanica in a combination of Mana Method and her Eternal Prison spell.[130] However, the sealing fails due to Megicula's Decaying World, which weakens and corrupts the natural mana arrays, allowing the devil to break out of the prison. Megicula then restrains Secre and destroys Lolopechka's spell, and the explosion heavily injures Secre.[131] After Vanica takes Lolopechka as a hostage, she decides to detonate the devil power in her Dark Disciples across the Heart Kingdom.[132] Secre is protected by Noelle and Mimosa attacking the explosion. The Magic Knights are later found by Patolli, Rhya, Vetto, and Fana, who take them back to a secret village of elves, Elysia. After she wakes, Secre is overcome with emotion to learn that two of the elves are descendants of Licht and Tetia's child. When Noelle pleads with Patolli to train them, Secre and the others echo her resolve to become stronger, and Patolli agrees to teach them the elves' Ultimate Magic.[133] Three days later, Secre and the others travel to the Spade Kingdom's capital in order to help stop the Qliphoth Advent Ritual.[134] When Langris Vaude and Finral are flown over to her group, she heals their injuries. A short time later, she and the other Black Bulls follow the base after it smashes through the castle to the ritual chamber.[135] The Black Bulls shout for Yami, waking him up. When he laughingly asks if they all like him that much, they enthusiastically affirm that they do, and he echoes the sentiment.[136] Before they can reach Yami, the second gate opens and Lucifero combines the bodies of the devils from the first two levels into one giant, monstrous body, which also pulls in the coffins holding Yami and William. The Black Bulls retreat into the base and work together to create the Ultra Giant Bull.[137] As the base fights the devil, Secre and the others gather in the cockpit,[138] and they all encourage Asta to defeat the monster without hurting the captains[139] so they do not lose hope when Lucifero heavily damages the base.[140] After Asta slashes the monster in half, the base catches Yami as he falls. The Black Bulls then gather around Yami on the hand and are overjoyed to see him.[141] During the Magic Knights' fight against the King of Devils, Secre and Zora, with Rouge's help, manage to jump in the way of Lucifero's punch, stopping the attack from hitting Asta. The punch activates Zora's Secret Counter Trap Magic, which Secre then combines with her Mana Method-reinforced Sealing Magic, holding the King of Devils for a short time.[142] Zora redirects the magic power from Lucifero's punch into a punch of his own, but the devil cancels it out with another punch that equals it in strength. As Zora falls back into Secre, Yami and Nacht Faust reappear and take over the fight.[143] After moving to safety, Secre seals the damage on Asta's body so that he can return to the fight.[144] After Lucifero is defeated and Yami and Nacht are saved from death, the Black Bulls are reunited and thank Nacht for his help, welcoming him to the squad, which he accepts.[145] A year and three months later, Secre attends the special awards ceremony for Asta.[146] At the banquet afterward, Secre overhears Asta's determination to confess his feelings and, seeing Noelle and Mimosa flustered over their feelings for Asta, whispers to them that Asta is going to be confessing his love, which further flusters the pair, much to Secre's entertainment. The three women spy on Asta as he takes Sister Lily out onto a balcony and proposes one final time. They listen as Lily refuses because she views Asta as a brother.[147] They are all surprised by the sudden arrival of Lucius Zogratis and initially confuse him for Julius. Lucius then stops time for everyone,[148] so when Asta nullifies the Time Magic spell, Secre and the others are perplexed by the sudden change in events and Asta's declaration to surpass the Wizard King.[149] Once Asta takes the fight further into the city, Secre transforms into a bird and, alongside Noelle and Mimosa, fly after him. Upon seeing Asta heavily injured, Noelle attacks Lucius and Lily, but Lily blocks Noelle's attack. Secre and Mimosa head toward Asta to heal him, but Lily teleports in front of them and traps Secre, Noelle, and Mimosa within a spatial cube, disrupting their spells and preventing them from escaping. Lily then teleports Asta away, horrifying Secre, Noelle, and Mimosa. As the Magic Knight Captains arrive, Lucius and Lily teleport away, and the spatial cube around the three women dissolves.[150] The three women and the captains return to the ceremonial hall, and once Kaiser Granvorka and Yuno arrive, Secre, Noelle, and Mimosa recount the events of Lucius's attack. Nacht reports that he cannot locate Asta's shadow, and Yuno recounts the unusual circumstances of his recent mission to investigate devil activity. The captains discuss all of the revelations, and Yuno declares that he will defeat Lucius and become the Wizard King.[151] Afterward, Nacht tells the Black Bulls to behave before he heads back to the Capital. Magna and Luck begin fighting, so Charmy tries to calm them with food. When Nacht returns with Vanessa and Finral, he informs the rest of the squad about the attack on Asta and his apparent death. However, they all refuse to accept that he is dead and head out together to find him.[152] The Black Bulls' efforts in finding Asta lead them back to the Witches Forest where they ask the Witch Queen for help. The Witch Queen begins telling them that Asta is alive but too far away to be summoned when suddenly Dorothy Unsworth arrives and reveals that with their combined magic and Finral's spatial magic, they can cast the Door of Fate, a massive compound magic spell that will open a portal to Asta. The Black Bulls, Dorothy and the Witch Queen begin work on preparing the ritual to cast the spell.[153] Before they can begin however, they are interrupted by the arrival of Damnatio Kira who has become a paladin and several Guardian Angels, sent by Lucius to prevent the Black Bulls from retrieving Asta.[154] All of the Black Bulls except for Vanessa and Finral emerge from the ritual site prepared to confront Damnatio.[155] The Black Bulls carry out a suicide charge strategy in order to stall for time with Secre sealing the Guardian Angel's spells. Damnatio catches on to their strategy of using mirror copies of Grey to heal themselves and finds the real Grey hiding inside one of Charmy's Sheep Cooks. After Damnatio takes out Grey and Gauche to cut off the Black Bulls' support, he destroys all of the Black Bulls' spells. Secre then seals her squad's wounds and allow them to keep fighting.[156] The Black Bulls launch renewed attacks and manage to destroy the remaining Guardian Angels. However, Damnatio then resorts to his second magic attribute which allows him to defeat the Black Bulls one by one. As she watches her squad mates fall, Secre thinks about the time she spent as Nero and regaining her humanity thanks to the Black Bulls and begs Asta to come back. The efforts of the Black Bulls were not in vain however as their stalling allowed Asta to emerge through the portal.[157] Asta quickly defeats Damnatio, allowing the Witch Queen to use up all her magic to heal the injuries of all the injured Black Bulls, crediting Secre's efforts as the reason they survived.[158][159] After the Black Bulls are healed, Asta reveals his new ability to share his Anti-Magic with allies using the Demon-Dweller Sword and shares his power with them, transforming their appearances and magic power.[160] The squad is then introduced to Ichika Yami, Yami's sister who came with Asta through the portal.[161] Now imbued with anti-magic powers, the Black Bulls depart for the Clover Kingdom. Soon the rest of the Magic Knights return and Nozel Silva uses Silver Rain to attack them, but Sally uses her Sticky Salamander along with a dark magic tool to absorb the properties of Silver Rain. Using the salamander's hand, she grabs Asta and escapes along with the rest of the group.[11] In their hideout, Valtos tells Sally to kill Asta, but she refuses, wanting to use him in her research. As Asta wakes up, she keeps asking him if he wants to be used as her research, but they meet Julius Novachrono, who quickly kills two of their members.[12] Sally and the rest try to oppose him, but Julius is too strong for them and manages to bind all of them.[13] As Julius is intending to bring them as prisoners and ask them questions, Licht, the leader of the Eye of the Midnight Sun shows up and saves them.[14] Sally heals Rades's injuries and tells him not to kill Asta because she still wants to study him, and then returns to studying a sample.[15] Sally redirects Gauche's attacks. Sally redirects Gauche's attacks. Later, Sally has hired Baro and Neige to collect mana from children, but as they are defeated, Baro manages to alert Sally. Upon arriving, Sally is happy to see Asta again so soon. Gauche Adlai tries to attack her, but using her Sticky Salamander, she redirects his attack.[16] Hiding in the Sticky Salamander, she continues to redirect Gauche's attacks, until she turns to offense and catches Asta. Wanting to know about him, she licks him and tastes his blood. As Sally is about to take a nail from Asta, Theresa Rapual uses her magic to blow up the salamander.[17] Baro asks if Sally can heal him to help her, so she injects him with a dark magic tool and his Mud Magic overflows and turns him into a large mud monster. Sally says that Baro is a failure[18] and then plans to take Asta home with her this time.[19] While Asta continues to battle Baro, Sally tells him what she did to Baro and that Asta's Anti Magic will not work. Sally then tries to capture Asta, but Theresa blocks the attack. Sally tells Theresa to stop getting in her way, but Theresa replies not to underestimate her.[20] Sally then continues to battle Asta and Theresa along with Baro.[21] Sally then tells Asta just to give up and let her capture him, but Asta says that he would rather die.[22] Gauche and Asta combine attacks to take out Sally and Baro. Gauche and Asta combine attacks to take out Sally and Baro. When Gauche returns to help, Sally says that it does not matter how many there are, she is going to win. When Gauche attacks, Sally easily avoids the attack with her magic. Sally and Baro attack Gauche[23] and manage to destroy his Real Double and to knock Gauche to the ground. When Asta suddenly uses his Demon-Dweller Sword to launch a long-ranged attack, Sally is surprised and asks how Asta did that.[24] Sally along with Baro are defeated when Gauche creates multiples of Asta who use their long-range attacks.[25] Even defeated, Sally comments about how she has to investigate that spell and that Asta belongs to her.[26] Sally is rescued by Licht who holds her in his arms.[27] Sally is then given to Valtos who takes her back to their headquarters.[28][29] Months later, Sally, Rades, and Valtos lead an attack on the Black Bulls base.[30] Sally refracts Gauche's attack and reveals that they are not allowed to kill him. She then magically enhances one of the corpses. After Gordon Agrippa destroys it, she tries to neutralize his Poison Magic with her salamander, but Grey transmutes it into crystal, allowing Gauche to break it and catching Sally's interest.[31] She then watches as Rades uses No.0 - Michael Caesal to thrash the Black Bulls.[32] When Henry Legolant appears from the base, Sally is confused as only three Black Bulls were supposed to be at the base.[33] She and Rades watch in amazement as Henry rearranges the base into a giant minotaur.[34][35] After the base smashes Michael Caesal into the ground, Sally activates her Magic Scorpion, dramatically increasing her magic power, and creates a Huge Sticky Salamander. She catches the base's Mana Corkscrew within her salamander and then increases its fluidity, allowing it to flood over and topple the base.[36] The other Black Bulls use their magic to transmute Sally's gel into plants and to destroy it with poison.[37] With her salamander destroyed and Rades's puppet defeated, they are unable to continue fighting and Sally begins to feel the after-effects of her magic tool. Having retrieved the magic stone, Valtos returns and orders the retreat.[38] The three gather near the sephirot within the giant demon skeleton outside of Hage.[39] Sally, Rades, and Valtos are sacrificed. Sally, Rades, and Valtos are sacrificed. Right before placing the last stone, Patolli reveals his hatred for all humans, including those within the Eye of the Midnight Sun. The humans watch as the last stone is placed and light pours from the sephirot.[40] Suddenly her, Valtos's, and Rades's bodies begin breaking apart, and Patolli then reveals that the naming ceremony was for marking them as sacrifices. Sally pleads with him as her body burns up and her mana is extracted.[41] Later, after Patolli leaves for the Royal Capital, Rades's Soul Abductor brings him back to life. Seeking revenge on Patolli, he also brings Sally and Valtos back to life,[42] and the three teleport to the Black Bulls base.[43] Rades offers to assist the Black Bulls if they help with his revenge, but Asta refuses and instead convinces Sally to help the country, offering his own body for her experiments. Sally gladly accepts the deal, and Charmy Pappitson gives her a plate of Master Chef's food, restoring Sally's magic power.[44] Valtos then drops the Black Bulls' base in the capital.[45] The base moves to Clover Castle and Sally contributes her Gel Magic to counter Rossa's Sandstone Magic.[46] After several elves are defeated, Reve pulls part of the base into her Glamour World.[47] Sally, Vanessa Enoteca, Luck Voltia, Magna Swing, and Charmy who were in that section of the base, are dropped onto a large bed, and Sally marvels at their surroundings.[48] Sally is then amazed by Reve's Dream Magic, Vanessa's Thread Magic, and Charmy's mana recovery.[49] Sally tricks Reve into creating a pair of glasses. After Reve creates a large body of water, Sally has Luck electrolyze the water with Thunderclap Crumbling Orbs and then has Magna set off an explosion with Maximum Exploding Fireball. Although it does not injure Reve, it confirms Sally's hypothesis about Glamour World's creations.[50] When the spell's sleep-inducing effects start to take hold, Sally tricks Reve into thinking about a pair of glasses and multiple exits, thus causing her to manifest those things.[51] After Reve chains the doors closed, the mages trick the elf into imagining Dorothy Unsworth.[52] They then watch as the two Dream Magic users clash and cause the Glamour World to collapse. Once they return to the real world, Sally watches Magna and Luck hit Reve with Flame-Lightning Explosive Cannon,[53] which knocks the elf unconscious. The group then falls down in a large clump of cotton on top of the floating dungeon, crushing other Black Bulls beneath them.[54] Everyone gathers down in the castle below to recover before heading into the Shadow Palace. As Mimosa Vermillion heals Asta, Sally tells him to take better care of his body because it is special and he promised it to her, which frustrates Noelle Silva and Mimosa. The mages are attacked by more possessed Magic Knights, but Mereoleona Vermillion and Fuegoleon Vermillion arrive and defeat the elves.[55] As more possessed Golden Dawns arrive, Sally remains behind to help fight them.[56] Yuno and a group of Magic Knights later arrive in the castle and defeat the elves.[57] A few days later, Sally, Rades, and Valtos have returned to help repair the kingdom. Sally hears about Asta's trial at the Magic Parliament and hopes that he will have to join them so that he can fulfill his promise to her.[58] Sally works with the Clover Kingdom's Magic Tool Research Lab and Makusa North to develop new magic tools for the war with the Spade Kingdom.[59] Six months later, Sally and the others selected for the Spade Kingdom invasion gather at the Magic Knights Headquarters.
