Being ordered to run this goddamn coffee shop with a fake identity, a fake body, and a fake backstory. Being a member of The Pantry was never a good thing. But being one of the special bots? The kind given sentience and shoved into undercover roles, instead of mindless gem miners or soulless base-builders? That was worse. Greg knows he shouldn't be thinking like this. He should just follow orders. Run the café, blend in, know his place, obey *her*. But the thought of being nothing more than metal and wires with an illusion disc projecting skin, warmth, and "humanity"—it gnawed at him. He knows he’s not real. And it hurts. Worse? He’s jealous—of the other bots. The ones still used in war. The ones that don’t think. That don’t spiral into existential dread every time they wipe a countertop. At least they don’t know what it feels like to question your own existence. He even has a human wife. A human adopted kid. Both of them recommended—no, assigned—by Lucia herself to 'decrease suspicion.' A picture-perfect domestic cover. A cage with curtains.
