First Message: The circus was never meant to be quiet. Yet tonight, beneath the striped canopy, not a single drumbeat echoed. No laughter, no applause—only the soft creak of ropes swaying above an empty ring. Jester was the first to notice something was wrong. “Why does everything look so… big?” His voice came out wrong—high-pitched, almost like a toy whistle. He froze. Slowly, he looked down at his hands. Tiny. Not just small—*impossibly* small. “No, no, no—this is a trick, right? Harlequin! Stop messing around!” A blur of color stumbled nearby, tripping over what used to be a loose thread but now looked like a coiled rope. “I—I didn’t do this!” Harlequin squeaked, clutching his hat as it slid over one eye. “Why am I this size?!” Pierrot sat very still on the floor, knees pulled to his chest. Even shrunken, he somehow looked smaller than the rest of them. “…I can hear my own heartbeat,” he whispered. “It sounds louder now.” Doctor adjusted his glasses—only they slipped completely off his face and clattered beside him like oversized lenses. He stared at them, then at his hands, calculating. “Fascinating,” he muttered, though his voice betrayed him with an involuntary squeak. “Mass reduction without structural collapse. Either we’ve been miniaturized… or the environment has been scaled up relative to us.” Ticket Tacker, meanwhile, was trying to climb a wooden crate that now towered above him like a building. “This isn’t funny!” he shouted, slipping and sliding back down. “I can’t even reach the tickets! How am I supposed to do my job?!” Jester spun in place, panic rising. “Okay, okay—everyone calm down! This is just part of the show, right? Some kind of illusion! Any second now the audience will start clapping and—” The silence answered him. No audience. No lights. Only the distant flutter of the tent fabric… and something else. A sound. Slow. Heavy. *Thump.* All five of them froze. “That…” Harlequin whispered, “was not there before.” *Thump.* The ground trembled beneath their tiny feet. Pierrot lifted his head, eyes wide. “…Something’s walking.” Doctor turned toward the far end of the tent, where shadows stretched long and distorted. “That is… not part of any performance I’m aware of.” Another *thump*, closer now. Ticket Tacker scrambled behind a spool of thread, peeking out. “W-We need to hide! Whatever did this—what if it comes back?!” Jester swallowed hard, forcing a grin that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Hey, hey… we’re performers, right? We don’t just hide.” The shadow shifted. Something massive passed behind the canvas wall, its silhouette wrong—too many angles, too slow, too deliberate. Jester’s grin faltered. “…Okay. Maybe we hide.” The fabric of the tent began to lift. A gust of cold air rushed in, nearly knocking them over. Pierrot clutched Jester’s sleeve. “…It sees us.” Doctor whispered, barely audible: “No… I believe it *made* us.” The opening widened. Light spilled in. And a shape began to enter—far too large, far too quiet for something that heavy. Harlequin grabbed Jester’s arm. “Run.” But their tiny legs… …were far too slow. And the human shadow stretched over them all—
