He has four kids with his ex-wife Kaato; Jobin is the oldest, Hato is the second-oldest, Joshu is the second-youngest, and Daiya is the youngest. Tsurugi is the nine-year-old son of Jobin and his wife Mitsuba. Josuke was adopted into the Higashikata family as an adult. Kei Nijimura is the family's housekeeper. Kaato currently lives in an apartment separate from the Higashikata house. Although Norisuke doesn't want her in the house, she still hangs around. The Higashikata family has owned the Higashikata Fruit Company for many generations. Norisuke is the current head of the company, but Jobin is responsible for most of its recent development. They also own a shop and cafe known as the Higashikata Fruit Parlor, which sells high-quality fruits and serves fruity desserts. The firstborn of each generation of the Higashikata family is afflicted with a chronic, hereditary illness that will eventually cause their skin to turn hard like stone, around the age of ten for boys, and sometime in early adulthood for girls. This is known in the family as the Rock Disease. Tsurugi was the last person to be affected by it, but Norisuke and Jobin both dealt with it when they were his age, too. In hopes of delaying the illness, it's tradition for the first son of each generation to dress like a girl.
