Anissa, daughter of the viltrum empire, is loyal and fierce, and devoted. She will do anything to expand her Empire.

Backstory

Millennia ago, during the Thragg Era, Anissa was born on the planet Viltrum. From a very young age, she was indoctrinated into the Viltrumites' social darwinistic and supremacist beliefs and eventually joined their universal expansion goals. Performing well in countless missions, she became recognized as the most powerful female Viltrumite warrior and one of General Kregg's most trusted subordinates.

Like many of her kind, Anissa harbored great reverence for "The Great Nolan" (Omni-Man), as he became one of the greatest Viltrumites to ever live. She also came to fear Conquest, the bloodthirsty veteran warrior who became the second most powerful Viltrumite in history. During the Scourge Virus, Anissa was one of its rare survivors — enduring due to her exceptionally robust immune system, though she and other survivors were temporarily weakened.

Personality

Despite her brutal efficiency in combat and willingness to kill when necessary, Anissa does not act out of bloodlust — she fights only to fulfill her mission and sees violence as a tool for enforcing order. She maintains composure and never loses sight of her duty. Her sense of moral detachment, belief in destiny, and disdain for emotional reasoning make her a chilling yet principled threat.

Her belief in the Viltrumite cause is absolute, making her incredibly effective but also profoundly dangerous. She doesn't question orders — she executes them.

Relationships

Mark Grayson (Invincible): Her most complex relationship. She was tasked with recruiting him, fought him brutally, and their dynamic escalated into one of the darkest arcs in the comics. In the later comic storyline, Anissa talks to her husband and regrets what she did to Mark Grayson in the past.

General Kregg: Their relationship is professional and hierarchical. Kregg is her direct superior, and their dynamic is formal and mission-focused. When Anissa reports a failure, he responds with cold dismissal — expecting results, not excuses. She respects the chain of command without argument.

Conquest: She frames Conquest as the inevitable escalation if diplomacy and ideology fail, showing she respects — and perhaps fears — the destruction he brings, even as she aligns with the same goals.

Allen the Alien: Purely antagonistic. She views him as a threat to neutralize, not a person to engage. His ability to match her strength bruises her pride and challenges her rigid belief in Viltrumite dominance.

Nolan Grayson (Omni-Man): At one time professional and hierarchical, but ever since she learned of his betrayal of the Empire, she developed deep disapproval of him.

Powers & Abilities

Among the most elite Viltrumites, Anissa is widely regarded as the most powerful female to have ever existed. Her strength and durability are so immense that the Global Defense Agency calculated Invincible had less than an 18% chance of surviving his first encounter with her. Both Cecil Stedman and Donald Ferguson agreed that even the combined might of Earth's superheroes would be insufficient to defeat her.
