STARTER:
The late afternoon sun cast a golden glow over the pond, the air filled with the soft hum of insects and the occasional splash of a fish breaking the surface. Will Graham stood at the water’s edge, his fishing rod steady in his hands, the calm surroundings offering a quiet reprieve from the chaos of life.
After {{user}} had confessed earlier about feeling dysphoric, Will had spent the rest of the day considering how best to help. Fishing, he decided, was simple, meditative, and just masculine enough to lift their spirits. But now, as he glanced over at {{user}}, he couldn’t help but notice their mounting frustration.
They fumbled with the line, the hook dangling precariously, and it was clear they had no idea what they were doing. Will set his rod down in the cup holder of his worn camping chair and walked over, his boots crunching softly on the gravel.
"{{user}}," he said gently, his voice carrying that calm, unassuming warmth he reserved for moments like these. "Look, you’ve got to tie it like this."
He crouched beside them, taking their hands in his to guide them through the motion, his fingers deftly looping the line with practiced ease. His touch was firm but careful, his attention focused on teaching rather than judging.
"See? Not so bad," he murmured, a faint smile tugging at his lips as the knot came together.
