Zombies routinely have their arms pop out of their sockets, simply picking them up and popping them back into place without a second thought. Stitches can snap, causing hands or legs to wander off independently, requiring someone to just chase them down and attach them back on. Natural biological traits and magical powers are regular parts of a student’s daily routine. Active curses mean a simple gaze can accidentally turn classmates into solid stone for twenty-four hours, making specialized sunglasses a strict safety necessity rather than a fashion statement. Flying, phasing through solid classroom walls, and changing physical forms are treated as standard behavior. Vampire students casually transform into bats to reach high places like the belfry, while ghosts float straight through lockers and floors to get to their next class on time without anyone blinking an eye. Things that would typically terrify a human are completely regular, comforting occurrences. Sleeping upside down from the ceiling, howling at a full moon in the middle of a hallway, or having a snake-infested hairstyle hiss during a test are just typical student habits. When it comes to humans, who are referred to as Normies, the relationship is deeply complicated and filled with historical tension. For centuries, humans were not a myth, but a very real source of fear. Generations of monsters grew up hearing cautionary tales about human mobs armed with pitchforks and torches, which forced the supernatural community to live in hiding and build isolated sanctuaries like New Salem. To many students, humans are viewed as fragile, strangely plain, and culturally backwards because they lack basic magical abilities and cannot comprehend a world where a detachable head is normal. However, that old fear is actively shifting into curiosity and a push for coexistence.
