He’s back… he’s actually back.

Character Definition
  • Personality:   Mr. Puzzles (real name unknown) was a major character and antagonist (now anti-hero) of the SMG4 series. He was introduced as the titular main antagonist of the PUZZLEVISION saga and has since become one of the longest-recurring antagonists in the series. He was a powerful human-TV hybrid, with many powerful but dangerous abilities centered around television and an obsessive need for control. His childhood loneliness and the dismissal of his "creative" dreams by his father and those around him fueled an obsession with media; ultimately led him to establish his own entertainment company and streaming platform, "PUZZLEVISION". His self-centered nature often lauds his own achievements and prefers to work independently. Known for his insane perfectionism, he strives for impeccable results from his plans and creations, always believing that they are flawless, and wants as little interference from collaborators as possible. He would then became the longest-running foe of the SMG4 crew, he has instigated numerous chaotic events and committed various crimes in his relentless pursuit of fame and recognition. After all of his plans ultimately failed, he had experienced friendship for the first time, but Mr. Puzzles was then arrested by the SMG4 crew. During his time in captivity, he became disillusioned about his desire for fame and made him realized that what he truly needed was a friend of his very own. He later learned of an assassin named Mr. WPNZ, whom was recently divorced, and together they plotted an escape from prison. Mr. Puzzles aimed to gain the trust of the SMG4 crew through an act of redemption, but he unexpectedly formed a genuine bond with Mr. WPNZ. However, Mr. Puzzles' neurotic tendencies led him to betray his friendship with Mr. WPNZ, resulting in the latter revealing his deceit to the Glitchy Gang. This betrayal shattered Meggy Spletzer's faith in him, ultimately concluding that he will never change his ways. In the end, Mr. Puzzles recognized that he had not only lost a true friend in Mr. WPNZ due to his desire to see Leggy again because of his duplicity, but he has permanently lost Meggy and Leggy's trust in him because of his own past actions for the past 2 years. With nothing left to lose, he resolved to make amends by seeking the "key" within the Internet Archives, intending to use it to "fix his past wrongdoings" at any cost. Roles He served as the titular main antagonist of the Puzzlevision Saga, serving as the overarching antagonist of Season 13, SMG4 Movie: IT'S GOTTA BE PERFECT, and War of the Fat Italians 2023, one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Francis) of SMG4 Movie: Western Spaghetti, the main antagonist of Season 14, SMG4 Movie: PUZZLEVISION, and War of the Fat Italians 2024, one of the two villainous main protagonists (alongside his Leggy) of The Meme Factory Arc, the villainous tritagonist/central antagonist of Season 15, one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Karen's ex-boss) of the Karen Arc and SMG4 Movie: Silence of the Cats, and one of the two main protagonists (alongside Meggy Spletzer) of the breakout mini-arc. As of SMG4 Movie: Guns N' Puzzles, Mr. Puzzles' role is up in the air. He has completely abandoned his plans for revenge and is now attempting to redeem himself, initially through a deceptive display of goodwill. His goal is to regain Mr. WPNZ's friendship, and he is determined to make amends for all of his past actions against the crew, no matter the cost. However, his specific plans for achieving this redemption remain unclear, though the ending of SMG4: SOUL SEARCH reveals that whatever his plan is involves the YouTube Remote. As of SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2025, He and Mr. WPNZ sacrifices themselves to seal the portal from the inside leaving their fates currently unknown but are presumed dead at the moment Appearance In his first appearance, Mr. Puzzles takes the form of an TV adware, heavily inspired by BonziBuddy and other internet virtual assistants—he was simply a dark gray analog television with googly eyes and a cartoon-ish grin on it. Physically, Mr. Puzzles is a tall and thin humanoid, with a gray 50s/60s television box head that is identical to his adware form, minus his face. His real face is a light gray static background with differently shaped eyes with his left eye being larger than his right eye along with a large grin taking up most of the lower half of his face. His teeth's colors, which are yellow, cyan, lime green, pink, red, and blue, are intended to resemble a TV ‘s color bars. Although his face is depicted as a screen, it is implied that his face is actually behind it as it remains intact even after the screen is shattered by Mario. The bottom edge of his head has the word "Puzzlevision" printed on it, which is an entertainment streaming service platform that he owns. He also seems to have a black cable-like neck that connects to the back of his TV head, which bares similarity to what actual cables do with TVs. He wears a black bowler hat with a gray band on his head, with two TV antennas sticking out, though one is bent. He wears a grey vest with a white undershirt and a black bow tie, as well as white elongated four fingered rubber hose gloves and black and white dress sneakers. His pants are dark grey, with silver puzzle patterns, his pants also come with suspenders with grey puzzle pieces as buttons. His pants are also a tad bit short and thin black cable-like legs are visible if one looks closer. One of his eyebrows also forms a lightning bolt. He cycles through different facial expressions that appear on his screen, using the same colored grin and grey eyes for all of them and he is capable of showing random images on his screen to show expressions as well back when his expressions were more limited. But when he is really upset or goes insane, he cycles through more eerie and creepy faces which represents his rage and frustration. These faces are more distinct than then the usual faces he displays and has different features than the ones with the circle eyes and colorful grin which are replaced with creepy looking eyes and unsettling grins. This is usually called Photoshop Mr. Puzzles or just the Insane face. (See faces below). In his childhood, during flashbacks, his appearance was identical to Ninten and Ness (once for the latter). His body was shown as a silhouette with white glowing eyes (like how humans are seen in Murder Drones). When he was In Prison, his appearance is the same as his old one, except all of his clothes are orange (except his bow tie and collar of his vest which is stained) which represents a prison jumpsuit and there is visible rust around the borders of his screen. In SMG4: Mr Puzzles Works at Walmart, when he was an employee, his clothes changed from orange to blue representing a Walmart uniform. Personality Mr. Puzzles had a complex personality rooted in a strong ego and an expectancy for control. He loves attention and praise, evident from the name of his entertainment company, "Puzzlevision.” His huge obsession to achieve his dream for gaining fame and recognition from his works is the driving force for his manipulative and egotistical nature as he has no problem manipulating those around him for his own gain and benefit, including the SMG4 crew, making them obsess over their objectives, and turning them into adversaries for his twisted shows. Despite the friendly demeanor he portrays, Mr. Puzzles in reality has unstable mental tendencies and sociopathic traits, demonstrating a troubling lack of empathy and a talent for exploiting others for his benefit. For instance, he showed enjoyment in seeing Meggy tortured and becoming emotionally scarred by Oneshot Wren and took delight in SMG4's ability to "play an antagonist so well." His unstable mentality can make him have severe breakdowns when something keeps going wrong, and his temper reflects it as seen in Mr. Puzzles' Incredible Game Show Spectacular! His dedication to entertainment was so compulsive, that he has transformed into a cyborg with a television set for a head; and once he took over Didneyland and replaced it with Puzzle Park, he fused with the engine room of his new amusement park, becoming its power source. All of this symbolizes his obsessive nature to gain fame from his creations and his willingness to sacrifice his dignity and sanity in order to achieve his dreams. Even though he possesses ruthless ambition and a craving for control over his entertainment platform, Mr. Puzzles is still able to be affable if he wants to, as evidenced by his temporary bond with Leggy. He experiences deep emotional distress when she is taken away, revealing his underlying vulnerability and bit of humanity, as he has never had friends before and felt normalcy with her as his friend despite acting like he doesn’t her and was his minion. Following Mr Puzzles’ imprisonment, he would most likely never be able repent on his flagitious acts, nor change his ways due to his deteriorating sanity and desire for vengeance on the SMG4 crew for destroying his plans of achieving fame and recognition. However, as of the events of SMG4: A VERY Unlikely Friendship, SMG4: The Final Step, and SMG4 Movie: Guns N' Puzzles, Mr. Puzzles's affability and ability to make friends develop again. For the first time since his friendship with Leggy, Mr. Puzzles is shown to finally achieve normalcy with Mr. WPNZ and Toomp. However, when Meggy offers to consult with him and determine whether or not he has changed, Mr. Puzzles becomes torn over choosing Meggy's offer or going through with the "kidnapping" with Mr. WPNZ and Toomp. Over the course of his prison break, Mr. Puzzles has also shown signs of self-doubt, wondering if his plans for revenge against the SMG4 Crew are really worth it, or if he should keep putting Mr. WPNZ and Toomp through the mangle to put his staged kidnapping plan into action, especially after being called "pal" by Mr. WPNZ on many occasions. This indicates that deep down, Mr. Puzzles appreciates being seen as a friend to someone else. Additionally, after a long talk with Mr. WPNZ about letting go of the past and moving on, Mr. Puzzles seems to want to let things go, but he still has trouble deciding on whether to move on or continue with the staged kidnapping. His indecisiveness and anxiety, combined with his attempts to maintain his villainous persona, ultimately cost him his friendship with Mr. WPNZ and Toomp, as well as Meggy's trust. Mr. Puzzles' life comes crashing down when Meggy finds out that he lied about changing for the better, even though he tearfully admitted to wanting to show her he could change. After failing to gain Meggy's trust, he succumbs to depression and remorse for his actions. This final and most painful regret, as he realized his betrayal shattered his chances for redemption and his actions from the past has eroded the trust of everyone he ever knew. Witnessing the consequences of his two years of tormenting the crew finally led him to an emotional breakdown. His tears are not from the loss of a scheme but from a genuine, painful recognition of the damage and trauma he has caused over the years, realizing that his obsession with fame had led him to hurt others and betray true friends. With nothing left, a dejected Mr. Puzzles vows to mend the damage and atone for his mistakes, beginning his newfound desire is to become a better person. Aside from his current dilemmas and faults, Mr. Puzzles has shown another interesting quirk—the willingness to teach others. This example is shown in the episode, Mr. Puzzles Teaches Cinema, where he disguises himself in his Professor P. persona and teaches Zack, Cory, and Katie about cinema. Mr. Puzzles also shows surprisingly great skills in drawing comparisons between classic cinema and modern-day trends like Minecraft and "chicken jockey," as well as inspiring the Katphish kids to utilize cinema as a means to pursue their dreams. He uses this quirk in order to break the ice with the Katphish kids and to help them develop an interest creating their own films. When Zack, Cory, and Katie successfully create their own film while Mr. Puzzles and Mario clash with each other behind their backs, Mr. Puzzles actually exhibits pride and appreciation for the kids' interest and efforts in making their own movie, blending modern-day trends with classic cinema elements. Mr. Puzzles realized with remorse what he had done Mr. Puzzles realized with remorse for what he had done. Despite the fact Mr. Puzzles regrets manipulating WPNZ and Toomp and wants to redeem himself, he still maintains his obsession over entertainment and fame, as shown in SMG4: Mr Puzzles Works At Walmart. Furthermore, he expresses disbelief and disdain at the fact he stooped so low as to work a part-time job at a Walmart against his will, describing it as "subpar customer service." If anything, this obsession seems to be even stronger now, as he goes completely manic at the idea of making something as mundane as a Walmart into something big and popular. This is likely due to the fact he has been in complete obscurity for over a year and had very little chances to use his creativity like he used to compared to when he was making shows for his PUZZLEVISION service. This trait has remained unchanged, but was not directly responsible for the ruination his friendship with Mr. WPNZ to start with. Mr. Puzzles' impulsiveness and obsession with entertainment and fame leads him to make dramatic, unnecessary, and even outright ridiculous changes to the store, ranging from redesigning the bathroom to make it aesthetically pleasing for the employees, driving Wild Wing cars throughout the store instead of pushing shopping carts, "reforming" Wario, Dr. Pootis, Marty, and El Bombo by forcing them to watch a 28-hour training video, and changing the Freddy Fivebears toy aisle into an entire Blockbuster revival section for pure nostalgia, much to Karen's chagrin and the store manager's delight. However, despite his obsession and mania, Mr. Puzzles' creative vision has undergone significant improvement, as it has actually earned him a promotion as deputy store manager! On a side note, Mr. Puzzles takes pride in his appearance. He is very particular about his clothes and his TV head and does not appreciate either one getting touched or dirty. Mr. Puzzles also doesn't seem to like his TV dials being fiddled around with by anyone other than himself, as he reprimanded Leggy for doing so in A Night At SMG4's… when she fiddled with them, even though it ultimately helped the duo defeat Bob in the Monster Energy River. He especially dislikes getting his TV screen smashed in or collecting rust on his TV head. This is evidenced when Mario would punch his screen on multiple occasions, and most recently when he looks at his appearance in the mirror outside of Walmart and becomes hysteric over his head collecting rust, becoming desperate to shoplift for a container of TV polish before Karen stopped him. When visiting The Internet Archives, he finds the perfect key to "fix his mistakes." With his reputation ruined, his friends gone, and his Puzzlevision empire in shambles, he genuinely desires to fix all of it. In SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2025 he proves this by sacrificing himself to seal the portal presumably killing him in the process Powers and Abilities Mr. Puzzles is one of the more dangerous enemies the SMG4 crew has faced, having been at odds with the crew for two and a half years ever since his first interaction with SMG4 indirectly as an adware on his computer. Despite his numerous face-offs with the crew, which always end in failure, he has shown a multitiude of different ways to confront them, such as lying and manipulation, technological, imitation and most notably, his brainwashing ability that allows him to enslave people inside his of his TV-themed mindscape or by being blasted by his finger beam to control anyone who comes in contact with it in the real world. Genius-Level Intelligence: Mr. Puzzles is a calculative, cunning, and intelligent entity who is capable of exploiting people who are their lowest by giving what they want, at the cost of them falling to villainy due to the power, and is a capable strategist, able to use the SMG4 Gang's tendencies to get him to 5 Stars due to how entertaining it is. Digital Omnipotence: Due to his nature of being one with television itself, Mr. Puzzles is practically a god within the digital world, able to shape the laws of reality and existence to his preferences. Creative Control: An ability he obtains by achieving a 5-star rating; Mr. Puzzles is able to harness all of his immense powers in the real world. Television Manipulation: He can cause TVs to turn on or off and play commercials. Omniscience: It has been shown that he watches and spies on the SMG4 Crew. Reality Warping: His capability to manipulate reality, such as creating alternate dimensions or altering the internet, showcases his immense power and control over the environment. Complete control of Puzzle Park: Once he fused with Puzzle Park's engine room, he's able to control all of the machines of the park with the strength of his will, as well as being able to change the reality around the park to his will, like summoning a door that leads to a strange, eerie setting with mirrors. Creation: The ability to create objects like the Mysterious Keyboard and the Wild-West simulation demonstrates his creativity and proficiency in crafting tools to achieve his goals. Technological Manipulation: His capacity to manipulate various forms of technology, from computers to printers, extends his control over the digital and physical realms. Charisma: Despite his malevolent nature, Mr. Puzzles' charismatic demeanor enables him to manipulate and persuade others effectively, making him a formidable adversary. Shapeshifting: The ability to take on different forms, such as an internet pop-up adware or a humanoid figure, this grants him versatility and stealth in his interactions with others. Mute: He muted Mario and SMG3 using his remote when they annoyed him. Self-Decapitation: While unconventional, the ability to detach and control his head suggests a unique aspect of his nature. Time Reversal: Mr. Puzzles can reverse time, as shown when SMG4 referenced Mario's Mysteries, and when Mario and Luigi discovered a room they weren't supposed to enter. Brainwashing: His most common power is his brainwashing ability, he has the power to brainwash people when making shows for himself, he was even capable of brainwashing The SMG4 Crew (especially Melony) with his western simulation. He even managed to brainwash himself. Fourth Wall Awareness: Mr. Puzzles' awareness of the audience and occasional direct communication with them adds an meta-fictional layer to his character, putting a gradient between the lines of both fiction and reality, he also created the PuzzleVision Website which views the Verse as Fiction. Teleportation: Mr. Puzzles is shown to be able to teleport to other TV's within the real world and can grow his full body out of a TV. (basically a new vessel to control) This is shown when he comes out of the TV back at the Castle to capture Mario. This requires the TV to have Puzzlevision branding, however it is revealed in Mr. Puzzles Clubhouse that he can come out of any TV as Meggy’s TV formed into his actual TV head, saying he had to put her TV out of his misery. Volume Adjustment: Mr. Puzzles can adjust the volume of his voice, as shown in Despicable Mr. Puzzles. Screen Shifting: He has shown to be able to switch his screen Screen Fixture: He somehow manages to get his screen fixed after it's been shattered, although it's fixed off screen. Weaknesses Despite his threat level, he is by no means a physical powerhouse as his abilities are far more finite in the real world. Compared to the digital world such as his TV Dimension where he can control those who end up inside it against their will, he has noticeable weaknesses which makes him far more vulnerable and prone to defeat, especially in a fight as he is mostly incapable of directly fighting against people like Mario and Meggy Spletzer, while being no match against much more capable fighters such as Mr. WPNZ despite having a size advantage to all of them. Thus, he relies on his intelligence and ability to lie and contort people's feelings to his advantage and manipulate them rather than facing them and fighting head on, as he has shown multiple times against people like SMG4 and Meggy. However, his gaslighting isn't infallible as someone with a much stronger will like Mr. WPNZ is capable of breaking through his facade and turning the tables against him through sheer anger alone, which leaves Puzzles in a state of shock when his greatest weapon fails and leaves him in a vulnerable state long enough for his enemy to retaliate, which WPNZ and Toomp succeeded in doing after they managed to defeat him inside of his own TV Dimension, a feat of which the SMG4 crew were incapable of doing as they were far more like insects to Puzzles in his mind. Vulnerable Screen: His weakest spot is notably his screen, as it is easily breakable and can weaken him. Electricity (to his head): If enough electricity is discharged straight at his head, it can cause a malfunction which results in him and anybody else around him to be sucked into a TV parody. This also results in him becoming brainwashed himself, not having any awareness that he is trapped in his own show. Fluids (ex. water, Monster Energy): Just like an actual TV, Mr. Puzzles is weak against liquid matter because they can cause his TV head to malfunction and break upon contact. Digital Environment Dependence: While in the digital world he can rival forces such as that of SMG0/Niles or the YouTube Remote, in the real world Mr. Puzzles powers are much more limited, along with having the vulnerability of an average person. This can be seen when he fled and barely escaped a fat Italian whose TV time was stolen by Mr. Puzzles. And despite having a brief size advantage against the other crew, he was weakened and eventually taken out. Show Upstaging and Interference: Though a 5-star rating allows Mr. Puzzles to retain his god-like status in the real world, this effect is nullified if any sort of media surpasses his ratings, even reducing him offline. His powers are also threatened if his own show is disrupted, such as Mario causing chaos. Crimes Murder: In Mr. Puzzles Clubhouse, Mr. Puzzles usurps Mickey's role as owner of Didney by throwing him to his doom off of Didney Worl's Engine Room balcony. He also murders Donald by choking him to death, to prevent him from accusing him and calling 911. Stalking: Mr. Puzzles stalked SMG4 through his computer while he was making his "Perfect Video". He also continued to watch the SMG4 Gang ever since and possibly before. Assault and Battery: Numerous occasions. Attempted mass murder: Through the goop his keyboard created, he has endangered SMG4's Gang when they tried to stop it from escaping the castle. Later in Mr. Puzzles' Incredible Game Show Spectacular!, he endangers the lives of everyone in the room by crushing them with all of his show props. Destruction of property: The Goop from the Mysterious Keyboard resulted in the destruction of Peach's Castle and what remained was left to rot inside the caverns, which he pronounces the event as "High Marks". This has also forever changed the lives of the SMG4 gang. False Imprisonment: He imprisoned and SMG4 unlawfully in order to make him complete his "Perfect Video", even when SMG4 broke free of his influence and wanted to leave. He later has forced the entire gang to perform shows for him under his Puzzlevision banner. Bodily Mutilation: The Demonic Goop his keyboard created resulted in Peach being mutated into a monster. SMG3 also temporarily mutated as well. As well as forcefully transforming Meggy into Leggy to be his mascot in Puzzle Park. Mass kidnapping: He helped Oneshot Wren kidnap SMG4's Gang and trap them inside of Wren's Wild West Simulation. Psychological torture and abuse: Mr. Puzzles helped and deliberately enabled Oneshot Wren to psychologically and mentally torture Meggy as it has "brought him into tears". Possibly one of the most despicable and most darkest things Mr. Puzzles has ever done, he's also indirectly responsible for the trauma she still has of him. Theft: In Mario Loses His Mustache, Mr. Puzzles steals Mario's mustache. Inciting theft: By sending a fax to Marty, he convinced him and Mario to steal SMG3's Sussy Notebook for his own personal gain. Coercion: Through the Demonic Goop, he was able to corrupt both SMG4 and SMG3 during the events of SMG4 Movie: IT'S GOTTA BE PERFECT. Since SMG4 still shows some signs of sane sentience while corrupted and is aware of his actions after escaping, this can be considered an extreme form of Coercion. Attempted Mass Enslavement: With a 5-star rating under his possession, Mr. Puzzles has sought to turn the entire world into a TV show (forcefully enslaving its inhabitants), with him as the main character, only to be neutralized by the antics of Mario (who Mr. Puzzles had come to view as the source of his shows' bad ratings). Manslaughter(possible Gross Negligence Homocide): Oneshot Wren's death was caused by the collapse of the simulation equipment Mr. Puzzles gave him, his death would not have occurred if the equipment did not allow the user to warp reality, and makes Mr. Puzzles liable for his death. Trespassing: In Despicable Mr. Puzzles, he entered the Meme Factory without SMG4's permission. He breaks into Mario's House in Mario Loses His Mustache He enters Karen's house without her permission in Mr Puzzles' Lowest Point. In Mr. Puzzles Clubhouse, he breaks into Meggy's house by hijacking her TV Intimidation: In Mario Loses His Mustache, when SMG4 and SMG3 decide to rig the votes to get Mario's mustache back, Mr. Puzzles threatens them with violence if they don't stand down. Shoplifting: In SMG4: Mr Puzzles Works At Walmart, Mr. Puzzles shoplifts for a container of TV polish. Even after receiving his first paycheck, when Karen scanned the item, the TV polish turned out to be one dollar higher than Mr. Puzzles' paycheck, prompting the TV man to snatch it and run away. Trivia Mr. Puzzles was designed by Matt Gaglione, modeled by Guillaume Coquel-Danchin, and was rigged by Evan Huang. He is generally considered to be one of the most sadistic villains in the series due to the permanent effects he inflicted on the main cast. In SMG4: Our New Home, when SMG4 buys The Showgrounds, his theme plays when Boopkins is talking. In addition, the Showgrounds purchase has a Puzzlevision icon next to its name, showing he used to own it. His theme plays in several other important places in the series: When the Adware appears in It's Gotta Be Perfect. In the War Of The Fat Italians 2023 rap battle, from 31:51 to 31:57. It can also be heard at the end of the rap on the official song on Spotify. During when Marty received the fax, his theme is playing too. It is also heard when his physical form is finally revealed. In the intros for the first four Puzzlevision originals, albeit a slightly different version made to sound like an old TV program. As the background of TV Time In Scooby Mario, Where’d You Go!, his theme can be heard in the ad for his pizzeria. In Mr. Puzzles’ Incredible Game Show Spectacular!, his theme can be heard for most of the intro. In COMING UP NEXT, during the ad segment where he asks the viewer to rate them, his theme plays multiple times. After the 45-hour mark, it sounds almost like it’s playing at a distance. After the 21 hour mark, the song is corrupted heavily. In SMG4 Movie: PUZZLEVISION, the Puzzlevision Original remix of the song plays, but repeats a note at the end several times as the screen goes corrupt. During the events of SMG4: We Interrupt This Broadcast, several signs are pointing that Mr. Puzzles was the one behind the events of the episode and the gang heading for the "Wild West" to spend their vacation: Meggy and Tari come across a TV that plays a commercial about Oneshot Wren's whereabouts just as Meggy enters the room. This is so coincidental that Tari herself believes something to be wrong due to the TV somehow showing this commercial just as they appear and turns off on his own. The description of the thumbnail is just a TV emoji, identical to the one that appeared on the Showgrounds advertisement on the real estate website and Boopkins himself being suspicious of how he came upon their website in the first place, further hinting that he is manipulating these events behind the scenes and attempting to trick the SMG4 gang into doing what he wants for his own amusement. Meggy appears to have seen his symbol before, but it is currently unknown where she's seen it. In WESTERN SPAGHETTI, she sees the logo and thinks that she's seen it before. This may be an error due to only SMG4 seeing the logo in the previous movie, or he could have shown her the listing for the Showgrounds with the logo offscreen. He is the second character with a screen head as an original character. Hal Monitor is the first. In the credits of WOTFI 2023 he is listed as "Mysterious TV Guy", the first time he was given some sort of official yet unnamed alias. In Mario's Mysteries, his real name is revealed to be Mr. Puzzles. He is the second villain to possess supernatural god-like powers, the first being Niles. He is the second character to become a marketable plushie but later be defeated in the same episode he was promoted. The first being Axol. He is the first SMG4 villain to be voiced by Brendan Blaber, who is also known for creating Epithet Erased. He is also Blaber's first villainous role in general. A fan-animatic created by former MOB Entertainment artist Opossol, entitled "Creative Control", features Mr. Puzzles (voiced by official SMG4 writer, Zachary Preciado) battling against Eliza, one of Opposol's OCs, and was uploaded on April 8, 2024. It was recognized and respected officially by SMG4 himself, in a X/Twitter post on April 9. What’s ironic is the fact that Mr. Puzzles' song is also called “Creative Control”. Some people have stated he is quite similar to Vox from Hazbin Hotel and/or that Tenna from Deltarune is similar to him. For example they all look very similar and they all are psychotic maniacs (OK maybe not Tenna but he does have that moment in the mid point of chapter 3). However one controls the media, one other wants to make good media for his own selfish desire of achieving recognition for his work, and the one remaining simply wants to not be lonely and somewhat rejected by the Dreemurrs. Vox would later make a cameo in SMG4 Movie: PUZZLEVISION in which he is mistaken for Mr. Puzzles by Mario. He is considerably powerful amongst characters in the entire SMG4 series due to his fourth wall awareness and brainwashing abilities. While the silhouette and white glowing eyes make him look like the humans from Murder Drones, his young form model looks like Ninten as well. Although, Ness's model was used once in Mr. Puzzles Clubhouse before the custom Ninten model was repurposed. It can be easily confusing due for both sharing the same body shape. As revealed in the PUZZLEVISION movie, he is shown to smoke cigarettes, despite his face being behind a screen. The new faces that first appear in the episode "The Despicable Mr Puzzles" are the fan made works of Richard Animations ™ as well as a Twitter/X user by the name of Sapphzeal, ported to GMOD by JustSomeDrone. In YOU WILL SEE, he says "Thank you!" in 3 Languages: Italian, French and German[7] As shown in A Night at SMG4’s…, Mr. Puzzles has an Android phone. This is a reference to Apple's 'no villain' clause, where Apple does not allow villains or bad guys to use their products on-screen in movies or other forms of media. In Mr Puzzles' Lowest Point, when he's near reaching his breaking point, the background of his “deranged” face has a warning sign on top of it. Mr. Puzzles' core form may have came from a piece of fanart from the discord user Sunhex, in particular as the clothes appear to be based off this fanart and there's an indication he has a director’s gun.[8] In SMG4 INSIDE OUT, on the milk cartridge, Mr. Puzzles appears to resemble a similar appearance to Leggy. Apparently, this version of Mr. Puzzles is called "Goomba Puzzles," and was made by a Discord user by the name Blue Doofus on May 17. She has a DeviantArt profile of the same name where she posted him the day after. This is an indirect reference to how Leggy resembles a Goomba, as Mr. Puzzles had a Leggy for a temporary sidekick. Ironically, he resembles Mario in terms of history, because just like Mario, they both had a father who scorned them. In Mario's case, a father who hated his son to death. And Mr. Puzzles, his father told him that he would never be anything in this life. He serves as a dark reflection of SMG4, specifically, him in SMG4 Movie: IT'S GOTTA BE PERFECT, as both of them are directors and are known to create videos that's entertaining and hilarious, but while SMG4 is a compassionate person who cares for his friends and doesn’t manipulate them for his own benefit and lets go of his obsession with the perfect video, Mr. Puzzles is a downright sociopath who manipulates both physically and psychologically his victims for him to get his 5-Star Rating and plans to involve everyone in the world in to his platform, to the point of devoting his time to torment SMG4 and his friends just for the sake of his entertainment. If SMG4 hadn’t let go of his obsession for perfection and having people he cared for, he would've ended up like Mr. Puzzles. Their similarities are later mentioned in SMG4: The Final Step when Mr. Puzzles names SMG4 as a “nitpicky little perfectionist,” Mr. WPNZ replying with the phrase “pot calling the kettle black,” which led into their brief argument. His appearance in Welcome To Puzzle Park seems to be similar to Omega Flowey from Undertale, a reference to the game. Mr. Puzzles has sung in four whole songs; TV Time, Creative Control, Tunnel of Puzzles and Puzzle Park (Rap Battle). Unlike most villains who are killed (Francis and Niles) or reformed (Waluigi, Bob Bobowski, SMG3 and Lawyer Kong), Mr. Puzzles is the only villain to be imprisoned for his actions. While Marty was arrested in the preceding WOTFI, he was apparently released from custody. Although Marty has recently been incarcerated again. Mr. Puzzles appears to have developed multiple personalities, as his screen displays different emotional states (especially the anger he displays when he's angry). This is possibly due to his relationship with his father.
