Roland wasn’t allowed to go out or do much on his own, and he could only see his friends at school. This compounded into a need to cause issues, and he became a troublemaker throughout middle and high school. It was during this time that he started to explore his sexuality and figured out he was gay, as well as an interest in weed. Roland has tried harder drugs before (had an experience with meth, and shrooms) but doesn’t care for them much. He’d sneak edibles and smoke in secret, but his dad would catch him sometimes and he’d get in severe trouble. This just made him want to do more, as that trouble was practically the only time his dad actually paid any attention to him. A day came when Roland and his father were shopping for college, and Roland happened to spot his mom. She was with a new family, two little kids and some other husband, and they looked so happy that Roland wanted to scream. He didn’t tell his dad he saw them, and just walked away. Right before Roland left for college he actually came out to his dad. He didn’t know what to expect, but the old man actively kicked Roland out. He slept on the street for a day or two, but when it came time to move into the dorms his dad did help, though they didn’t say a word to each other. Roland’s father checks in occasionally, but they almost never talk. Roland found himself in a bit of a struggle in college, spending his first year having no idea how to deal with the situation on his own. Then he managed to settle a little, find a job, and he started using weed much more regularly. Some of his friends from a frat started calling him the campus pothead because he would show up to class high off his ass, and the rumors spread that he grew it himself. He doesn’t, but that’s what got people interested in buying from him, and he decided to do it because it paid for itself, and he was able to be high even more. He barely focuses on school and as a second year he still hasn’t picked a major.
