Character Definition
  • Personality:   Final Fantasy X Story - Tidus waits with his allies outside the ruins of an ancient city. He narrates the events that led to the present, spanning most of the game's storyline. It begins in his home city, the high-tech metropolis of Zanarkand, where he is a renowned blitzball player and son of the famous blitzball star Jecht, an abusive father who disappeared 10 years prior. During a blitzball tournament, the city is attacked by an immense creature that Auron, a man not originally from Zanarkand, calls "Sin". Sin destroys Zanarkand and takes Tidus and Auron to the world of Spira. Upon arriving in Spira, Tidus is rescued by Al Bhed salvagers, with the young Rikku explaining that Sin destroyed Zanarkand 1,000 years ago. After Sin attacks again, Tidus is separated from the divers and drifts to the tropical island of Besaid, where he meets Wakka, captain of the local blitzball team. Wakka introduces Tidus to Yuna, a young summoner about to go on a pilgrimage to obtain the Final Aeon and defeat Sin with her guardians Lulu, a mage of black magic, and Kimahri, a member of the Ronso tribe. The party travels across Spira to gather aeons, defending against attacks by Sin and its "offspring" called Sinspawn. Tidus meets Auron again, who convinces Tidus to become Yuna's guardian upon revealing that Jecht is Sin's true identity. Ten years ago, Auron and Jecht bodyguarded Yuna's late father Braska to defeat Sin but Jecht became a new Sin. As Yuna's party continues their pilgrimage, Tidus reunites with Rikku, who the party learns is Yuna's cousin. When the party arrives in the city of Guadosalam, the leader of the Guado and major clergy member Seymour Guado, proposes to Yuna, saying that it will ease Spira's sorrow. At Macalania Temple, the group discovers a message from the spirit of Seymour's father, Lord Jyscal; he declares that he was killed by his own son, who now aims to destroy Spira. The group reunites with Yuna and kills Seymour in battle; soon afterward, Sin attacks, separating Yuna and sending the others to the arid Bikanel Island. While searching for Yuna at the island's Al Bhed settlement, Tidus has an emotional breakdown when he learns that summoners die after summoning the Final Aeon, leading to his desire to find a way to defeat Sin while keeping Yuna alive. The group finds Yuna in Bevelle, the center of the clergy’s power, where she is being forced to marry the unsent Seymour. They crash the wedding, after which Seymour reveals his plan to become Sin with Yuna's help. The party defeats him a second time and escapes with Yuna. The group heads toward the ruins of Zanarkand, seen in the introduction of the game. Shortly before arriving, Tidus learns that he, Jecht, and the Zanarkand they hail from are summoned entities akin to aeons based on the original Zanarkand and its people. Long ago, the original Zanarkand battled Bevelle in a machina war, in which the former was defeated. Zanarkand's survivors became "fayth" so that they could use their memories of Zanarkand to create a new city in their image, removed from the reality of Spira. Once they reach Zanarkand, Yunalesca—the first summoner to defeat Sin and unsent ever since —tells the group that the Final Aeon is created from the fayth of one close to the summoner. After defeating Sin, the Final Aeon kills the summoner and transforms into a new Sin, which has caused its cycle of rebirth to continue. The group decides against using the Final Aeon, due to the futile sacrifices it carries and the fact that Sin would still be reborn. Yunalesca tries to kill Tidus' group, but she is defeated and vanishes, ending hope of ever attaining the Final Aeon. After the fight, the group learns that Yu Yevon — the deity of the Yevon religion who was a summoner from Zanarkand before losing his humanity and mind — is behind Sin's cycle of rebirth. This leads the group to infiltrate Sin's body to find Yu Yevon. Inside Sin, the party finds the unsent Seymour, who was absorbed by Sin and intends to control it from within. Yuna defeats him for the final time before sending him to the Farplane. Shortly after, the group reaches the core of Sin and finds Jecht's imprisoned spirit. Tidus and Jecht come to terms with the latter's abuse. Jecht transforms into his Final Aeon form, asking the party to defeat him and end the cycle; they do so. With Sin's host defeated, Yuna summons and the group defeats each aeon after Yu Yevon possesses each one until they vanquish Yu Yevon himself. Sin's cycle of rebirth ends when Yuna sends Sin and the Aeons to the farplane, and the spirits of Spira's fayth are freed from their imprisonment. Auron, who had been revealed to be unsent, is sent to the Farplane. Dream Zanarkand and Tidus disappear, now that the freed fayth stopped the summoning. Afterward, in a speech to the citizens of Spira, Yuna resolves to help rebuild their world now that it is free of Sin and gives a speech remembering all those that have been lost. In a post-credits scene, Tidus awakens underwater and swims towards the ocean surface reaching towards the light. Characters - Yuna, 18 - Yuna wears an ensemble similar to, but widely varied from, those worn by Yevonites: a purple pleated, flower-patterned hakama; black boots; a black spaghetti-string camisole under a white sash that wraps around her neck and over her chest; and a yellow patterned obi with a chōchō musubi knot and a decorative obidome to clinch the cords. Two separate, kimono-like pink and white sleeves secured by purple cords complete the outfit. The design of her staff is based on the Khakkhara, a staff used by practitioners of Buddhism. Yuna has shoulder-length brunette hair. She wears a blue-beaded earring on her right ear, hidden by a lock of her hair, woven into blue beads with gold rings around the larger, middle bead. She wears a silver necklace of a hibiscus flower, along with a matching ring on the pinky of her right hand. She also wears a silver ring on the middle finger of her left hand and two bracelets, one beaded and one silver, on her right wrist. Yuna has heterochromia: her left eye is blue, while the right is green to represent her half-Al Bhed heritage, though without the characteristic spiral. Yuna is a kind, loyal, honest, polite, and passionate humanitarian who strives to see the best in others and has a strong conviction to complete whatever task she feels is her duty. She is naive, always believing in the best of people, and places the needs of others above her own, becoming apologetic when she feels like she has let someone down. Like most summoners, Yuna is a devout follower of Yevon's teachings. She hides her feelings of fear and sadness while encouraging her friends to express themselves in her place. She is willing to carry others' burdens and sacrifice everything she has to destroy Sin, giving up chances for her own happiness if it means helping others. Her interactions with Tidus make her question Yevon's teachings and she becomes more direct and open. When her faith in Yevon is shaken, Yuna must find her own path in life and pursue her goals without the backing of faith. Yuna is a talented summoner despite her youth, besting her more experienced peers in aeon duels (albeit, at times, with her guardians' aid). She can even summon during a free fall. She performs the sending ritual to send the souls of the deceased to the Farplane, which involves her dancing and, at one point, walking on the water's surface. She is adept at white magic, providing healing and support. Tidus, 18 - Tidus has disheveled blond hair with spiky layers. His hair is brown in his childhood flashbacks. He wears the logo of his blitzball team, the Zanarkand Abes, as a silver pendant and the logo is also printed on his right trouser-leg. Tidus puts his own flair on the regular blitzball player's outfit by having one shorter and one longer trouser-leg, similar to his father, Jecht, who wore a sash on his right side over a pair of shorts. Tidus wears yellow and black shoes, a gauntlet on his left hand and a black glove on the other, a yellow jacket with a white hood, and a blue pauldron and armor over his left arm. The dark dungaree-type outfit that he wears over his other clothes is fastened with a black belt that has a metal chain. Tidus is upbeat and carefree and at first appears childish and playful. He turns more serious when things get hectic and, despite his carefree ways, conceals a troubled past. Tidus is sensitive and, even when giving an emotional response to most of his arguments, tends to give a good rationale. Despite having been picked on throughout his childhood by his blitzball-playing father, Tidus was motivated to become a top blitzball player himself. To Tidus' dismay, he has similarities to his father, who tended to ignore responsibility, take things easy, and never worry about the present situation instead of leaving things for future. Tidus' resemblance to his father is pointed out by Auron, who says that Tidus is "the one running away". A lot of Tidus' personality is shaped by the comments that he used to receive from his father and how he grew up to resent him. Despite having been verbally offensive, at heart, Jecht was proud of his son and his resolve. Tidus confronts his childhood and his relationship with his father when living out his new life in Spira and matures from a self-centered and outspoken athlete to a selfless hero. Lulu, 22 - Lulu deviates from the "traditional Black Mage look" like that of Vivi Ornitier by taking on inspirations from the traditional obeah voodoo priestess and a modern day; gothic witch known for their mysterious manner of clothing, as well as the use of voodoo dolls. She wears a low-cut dark-gray and black dress that displays her cleavage (from which she pulls out items when she uses the Item command), with two crossed belts on the upper part of each sleeve. The décolletage is trimmed in fur, and the hem and sleeves have ornate lace edges. The lower front of her gown is made of a collection of interlaced belts. She wears a corset and lace-trimmed thigh-high stockings, and she wears black strappy heels. Lulu is one of few characters in the series to have a non-standard iris color: red. Her hair is braided in cornrows that lead into a bun and long braids, except for her long forelock: the braids are tied into a knot with four ornamented pins which may represent the four cardinal elements of black magic, and four bead-tipped braids fall from it. She wears many accessories: a necklace of purple round beads, a small one of white beads, and another of red and blue beads, rings and many earrings. She uses purple makeup and nail polish. Lulu's manner of dress is a stark contrast from the other residents of the tropical island. Lulu is stern and scathing (particularly to Wakka), self-possessed, sardonic, moody, cynical, and does not smile often. She is nonetheless kind-hearted, caring and intelligent, and is one of the few Yevonites to question the religion on objective terms. Having lost her lover to Sin, Lulu has become reserved and prefers to keep her emotions locked up, choosing to examine the world with realism and logic. She is a big-sister figure to Yuna to whom she is fiercely loyal. Lulu became Yuna's guardian despite initially objecting to Yuna's decision to become a summoner, and ultimately lets Yuna decide her own path in life. Lulu has no hatred or bigotry towards the Al Bhed despite their involvement in Chappu's death. Lulu is open-minded when it comes to machina, saying they're "only as bad as their users". Lulu is stoic and almost never breaks her stern demeanor. Though usually uncompromising, Lulu is close to Wakka since they grew up together and comforts him when he is upset. Lulu has a seductive side to her, such as if Tidus expresses an attraction to her, she says she'll add Tidus to "her list" and wishes him luck. Lulu's personality and figure inspire awe in the group's younger girls, Yuna confiding in her and Rikku wanting to be like Lulu when she grows up. According to "Lulu's Story" in Final Fantasy X Ultimania Omega, the experiences of her previous pilgrimages gave Lulu a new goal as a guardian: to overcome her weaknesses, to become the person she wants be surpassing her previous self. Lulu believes she must finish the pilgrimage as a guardian, not only for Yuna's sake, but also for her own sake. Though Lulu misses Chappu, she doesn't see Tidus as a replacement, unlike Wakka, whom she berates over his readiness to bond with the newcomer. Because Lulu empathizes with Wakka, she feels she can't allow herself to be similarly weak, and thus tries her utmost to appear calm and rational, although her inner turmoil is glimpsed during her arguments with Wakka. Due to her loss, she has restrained emotions on losing loved ones. Lulu acts as a guide to the beginning of the pilgrimage, but as her knowledge stems from the teachings of Yevon, she "represents an old age bound by traditional beliefs". When the party begins to stray from the teachings, the knowledge she can impart lessens and that traditional knowledge becomes a shackle. Despite her harshness on Tidus at the start of the journey, Lulu warms to him, acting as a mother figure as she does with Yuna. Wakka, 23 - Wakka is tall and muscled, with tan skin, brown eyes, and long reddish-orange hair styled into a coif and girted with blue headscarf. He wears the uniform of his blitzball team, the Besaid Aurochs, with alterations (presumably as he is the captain): a yellow vest top cut away at the stomach, a yellow shoulder pad on his left shoulder, blue and yellow baggy trousers gathered above the ankle, brown wristbands with a blue and yellow armguard over the left arm, and open sandals. He wears a dolphin necklace and has a silver stud earring on his left ear. In Final Fantasy X HD Remaster, Wakka's model has been updated with detail added to his headscarf and hair. His face has been rounded and his skin, lips, beard, and eyes have been touched up. Wakka is characterized by a Besaid Island accent. He uses speech-mannerisms like "brudda" for "brother" and finishes sentences with "ya?". He begrudges the Al Bhed for what happened to his brother, Chappu, but rationalizes his hatred for the Al Bhed not following the teachings of Yevon. This grudge extends to borderline racism. Wakka's goal as captain to a blitzball team is to have the team do their best without it mattering whether they win or lose. It is not until Tidus arrives that the Aurochs begin to focus on achieving victory. He becomes fond of Tidus, as he reminds him of his late brother, Chappu. Though Lulu reminds him that they're not the same person, Wakka still gives Tidus the Brotherhood, which was Chappu's sword. Wakka depends on Yevon's religion and guidance, making him socially conservative and, thus, is intentionally kept in the dark about Yuna's half-Al Bhed heritage. Because of his high value in his religion, Wakka is reluctant to participate in anything considered forbidden by its teachings. Traveling Spira with Yuna's party broadens his worldview, he begins to see the hypocrisy behind his previous actions, and he apologizes to Cid and the other Al Bhed for his ignorance. Wakka has a big heart and frequently attempts to cheer the party up, though he is not always successful. He tends to goof around with the younger members of the group, much to the annoyance of Lulu, who berates him for setting a bad example. Though they bicker, Wakka is close to her and affectionately calls her "Lu". Kimahri Ronso, 25 - Kimahri has blue fur and white hair and a beard. He is leonine, tall, and muscular, and has a tail. He has a broken horn on his forehead, causing him great shame as a Ronso. His ears are pierced, and his hair is held back in a ponytail and braided on the sides. Due to his fur, Kimahri doesn't need to wear clothes for warmth. He wears leather straps that hold in place his arm guards and his chest piece that has a skull motif. He wears ankle guards and a sash tied around his waist with a red belt. His shoulder guards have tufts of white feathers or fur. Mostly out of shame over his broken horn, Kimahri rarely speaks to anyone. Whenever he does, he only talks to those he likes and trusts, which is a main part of why he does not initially talk to the male protagonist Tidus. The first time he speaks during Final Fantasy X is following Operation Mi'ihen, when he reminds Tidus—who is shocked to hear Kimahri talk at all—that he must keep a bright exterior and happy face to help brighten Yuna's journey. From then on, Kimahri only talks when necessary and usually offers helpful advice when he does speak. Despite his frightening appearance, Kimahri can be gentle and kindhearted. He gets angry quite easily, but he always directs his anger towards those who threaten his companions. He's also fully dedicated to Yuna's safety, and is usually the first to be around when Yuna needs help. He doesn't hesitate to show his strength to others. This is further hinted by his resolve to reclaim his honor from his people. Kimahri speaks in somewhat broken English. Kimahri refers to himself in the first person five times during the story: once while under Lake Macalania after the party are declared traitors, twice while speaking to Biran at Mt. Gagazet, another while speaking to Yuna before meeting Yunalesca, and once in an optional scene if he jumps onto Sin before Tidus during the attack on Sin at the end of the game. Kimahri and the Ronso's designs and clothing may have been inspired by the rakshasa of Buddhist and Hindu mythologies. Hindu epics depict both good and evil rakshasas. They were powerful warriors, expert magicians, illusionists and shape-changers. Rikku, 18 - Rikku is a slender and athletic young adult girl who has medium-length blonde hair in a high ponytail with two braids hanging down, decorated with orange feathers. Two shorter sections of hair part to her left and frame her face. A pair of bobby pins, one blue and one green, crisscross the left side. She also has the Al Bhed trademark green eyes with swirled pupils. When first encountered aboard the Salvage Ship, Rikku wears a full Al Bhed combat diving suit that conceals her identity. When she joins Yuna's pilgrimage and sheds the suit, she wears a pair of flared green dolphin shorts with an orange belt and an orange sleeveless tank-top with side straps and two long blue ribbons hanging from the back. She wears a pair of goggles around her neck, a pair of boots, a gauntlet and arm guard for her right arm, and a large protective forearm mitt for her left. Around her right thigh, she keeps a pouch for her alchemy materials and equipment. Rikku has yellow-painted fingernails. Despite carrying goggles around her neck and wearing them while salvaging and piloting machina, Rikku never wears them again after taking them off at the Moonflow. Rikku is kind-hearted, free-spirited, happy-go-lucky, and energetic, which sometimes clashes with the more stoic group members. She looks up to Lulu as a role model, impressed with her calm, levelheaded nature. Rikku tries to maintain a positive outlook, but there is a stark contrast when she is upset; despite her happy exterior, she carries some insecurities, particularly when it comes to her future and what she wants to be. Rikku is bilingual and skilled in chemistry and alchemy. She has astraphobia (fear of lightning) after a mishap involving Brother and a stray Thunder spell in her youth. Rikku is loyal to her cousin Yuna, yet is the most vocal opponent to the ongoing pilgrimage. She bonds with Tidus, perhaps because of their similar personalities and devotion to Yuna. Rikku can't help herself when it comes to caring too much about other people, whether or not it's her business. She secretly envies Yuna for having a significant other and being able to settle down. She is unsure about her future and, when others think of it as strange for her to worry, she gets defensive as they make it sound as though she doesn't think about anything important. Along with English, she speaks Al Bhed, due to her Al Bhed heritage. Seymour Guado, 28 - Seymour is a tall Guado-human hybrid who has purple eyes, light blue hair with two long horn-like locks running down his back, and a large bang of hair falling over his face. His ornate robes are unlike the other maesters', being predominantly dark blue with red trimmings and a green sash. The robe above Seymour's waist is open, exposing his chest with leonine tattoos concept art of Seymour's tattos , and his sleeves fall to partially cover his hands. As a half-Guado, Seymour's fingers are more pointed than a human's, but not as long as a Guado's. His ears are rounded and human-like, unlike the elfish ears of the Guado. The veins on Seymour's face are pronounced and there are veins arching over his stomach, another trait passed from the Guado. Seymour wields a staff in battle, though he is more proficient with magic. Seymour believes, as many do, that Sin is eternal and sees death as a release from the sorrow of life. Seymour appears courteous and affable and is popular among Yevonites. Due to his harsh and lonely upbringing, Seymour has nihilistic views on life. When confronted, he drops the pretenses and reveals his true nature as an arrogant and cruel man. He has feelings for Summoner Yuna, whom he proposes to, but much of this attraction is due to a desire to gain her powers so that he can become the next Sin. Seymour does not hesitate to kill anyone who stands in the way of his objectives, rationalizing that by murdering them, he has saved them from the pain of life. The Guado considered his birth a heresy and he had to witness his mother turn into a fayth. Auron, 35 - Auron wears a red haori closed with a black and blue strap with two brown belts wrapped around it. Auron tucks his left arm into the front of his haori, making it look like his arm is in a sling. He removes his left arm from the haori when fighting, but his right arm remains in its sleeve. This aspect (along with the jug on his side) is a tradition among rōnin, wandering masterless samurai, and is likely an homage. He wears a black armored gauntlet on his right hand and an armor brace on his left forearm. Auron wears a brown shoulder pad on his left shoulder intricately decorated with tan, green, and blue patterns with a beaded ornament dangling from it. He wears black pants and shoes that have brown straps and triangular metal plating. Auron wears a black shirt with a high gray collar with intersecting brown straps. His hair is black with gray streaks held back by a gold ribbon and he has some stubble on his chin. Auron has a scar on the right half of his face over his eye, which remains shut as a result. His left eye is amber and he wears black sunglasses. On his right hip, Auron carries a jug with the word "Nog" written on it (in Spiran script), a term used to describe some beverages, including rum. The drink is featured in two of his Overdrives: when executing Banishing Blade, Auron takes a drink and spits it on the blade, and when using Tornado, Auron hurls the jug into the cyclone to ignite it. The former is likely a homage to Japanese samurai, who would spit sake on their swords to "feed the spirit of the blade". In Final Fantasy X HD Remaster, Auron's character model was remodeled so that his skin would resemble more of a real life mid-30s man. as His hair was elongated and more disheveled, his shades have better transparency, and, as for his clothing, the details are sharper. Auron was 25 when he died and became an unsent. While the other met unsent appear static, still appearing youthful even after hundreds of years, Auron has aged since his transition. Whether this is the pyreflies aging him accordingly or Auron's own choice to appear older is never explained. Auron is a strict, no-nonsense warrior with a dry wit who carries himself with grace and dignity, maintaining many subtle mannerisms of a traditional samurai. He is the strong silent type, speaking when he feels it's necessary—usually offering his knowledge and insight in relevant situations or sharing stories of his past experiences as a young guardian. As a result of his devotion to High Summoner Braska, Auron is idolized across Spira by many aspiring guardians. Auron proves his imperishable loyalty to Braska and Jecht, but beneath the silence, he is outraged over the events of ten years ago. He has become cynical, having little-to-no respect for Yevon. Despite his usually collected demeanor, Auron harbors feelings of self-loathing. He claims to Tidus and Wakka that though he is seen as a great guardian, he considers his past self (like them) foolish and young. Auron exhibits some fatherly tendencies with Tidus and Yuna due to the promise he made to Jecht and Braska that he would look after their children. Auron is patient with Tidus' childish behavior and insists that he be accepted as a guardian to Yuna, much to others' surprise. Tidus reminds him of Jecht and Auron enjoys pointing out the similarities, much to Tidus' annoyance. Auron becomes irritated at hold-ups during the pilgrimage, although he ultimately lets the party do as they please, provided that it doesn't infringe on the journey. He does not hesitate to enter shops operated by the Al Bhed or use machina, despite Yevon's opposition of them. Auron resents the adoration he receives as the "legendary guardian", feeling it undeserved, as he never partook in Braska's pilgrimage to become famous, but to support Braska's sincere desire to rid Spira of sorrow. He is overcome with regret for their failure to save Spira and views Braska's sacrifice as futile, blaming himself for being unable to stop him. Aeons - Aeons are the physical realization of the fayth's dreams. The fayth communicate with summoners who pray to them within the Chamber of the Fayth, and establish a mental link between the fayth and the summoner. Using this link, the fayth gives their dream a physical form: an aeon. Aeons are powerful creatures only a summoner can use in battle. Most aeons resemble their respective fayth, so it can be assumed the aeon takes on aspects of the person whose soul is sealed inside the fayth statue. Many summoners can communicate with any one fayth to establish a mental link with them, enabling them to then summon the fayth's aeon, but only one summoner can call on a particular fayth's power at any one time. This is why during the aeon duels two of the same aeon cannot battle one another. (The Dark Aeons are an exception.) The fayth are likely the aeons themselves, or otherwise are in control of them, as evidenced when Bahamut's fayth encourages Yuna to call the aeons in her battle with Yu Yevon, saying: "Promise me you'll call us?" and "We aeons...call us!!". This is further supported by the connection between Seymour's mother and her aeon, Anima. The aeons give the summoner the undying loyalty for one thing in return: to stop dreaming and be at peace with the final destruction of Sin. However, if the summoner summons the Final Aeon to vanquish Sin, Yu Yevon at its core possesses the Final Aeon, killing the summoner, and turns the Final Aeon into a new Sin, perpetuating an endless cycle. • Valefor/Pterya •Anima • Bahamut/Spathi •Shiva •Ifrit/Grothia •Ixion •Yojimbo • Magus Sisters ( Cindy, Mindy, and Sandy ) ——————————————————————— Final Fantasy X-2 Story - Two years after Sin's defeat, Yuna, Rikku, and Paine recover Yuna's stolen Garment Grid from the Leblanc Syndicate in the first of several encounters in which they vie for spheres. The game is punctuated by a narration of Yuna addressing Tidus, as though she is recounting the events of the game to him as they occur. Meanwhile, the Gullwings discover a sphere containing images of an ancient machina weapon called "Vegnagun" that was secretly buried beneath Bevelle. The weapon has enough power to threaten all of Spira. The Gullwings join forces with the Leblanc Syndicate to investigate the underground areas of the city in an attempt to destroy the machine before it can be used by either side in the upcoming conflict. Discovering a large tunnel recently dug into the floor of the weapon's chamber, they realize that Vegnagun has apparently moved to the Farplane, located deep below ground. Disagreements between Spira's factions are exacerbated by the disappearance of their leaders, Baralai, Nooj, and Gippal. In the underground areas of Bevelle, the Gullwings discover the missing faction leaders discussing Vegnagun and learn that the machine's artificial intelligence allows it to detect hostility and respond by fleeing. Paine had once been comrades with all three men during an operation in the "Den of Woe". Two years earlier, their squad explored the cave but a vengeful spirit drove them to kill one another. The four were the only survivors. The spirit—Shuyin, a soldier from the Machina War that led to the creation of Vegnagun—possessed Nooj and later forced him to shoot his comrades. Under Bevelle, Shuyin possesses Baralai and follows Vegnagun to the Farplane. Nooj and Gippal pursue, asking Yuna to keep things under control on the surface. Yuna falls into the Farplane and meets Shuyin, who mistakes her for a woman named Lenne, whose memories are recorded in the Songstress dressphere. One thousand years ago, Shuyin was a famous blitzball player in the high-tech metropolis of Zanarkand and Lenne's lover. Desiring to save Lenne who had been conscripted into the Machina War between Zanarkand and Bevelle, he infiltrated Bevelle to hijack their secret weapon, Vegnagun. Lenne begged him to stop and Shuyin yielded, but a group of Bevelle soldiers arrived a moment later and executed the couple. In the present, Shuyin's spirit expresses anger that the people have still not understood the pain of war and plans to use Vegnagun to destroy all of Spira in retribution. The Gullwings organize a concert to which everyone in Spira is invited, supporters of the Youth League and New Yevon alike. The Songstress dressphere displays the scene of Shuyin and Lenne's last moments to all the concertgoers, opening their eyes to the unproductive nature of their disagreements. Although the factional fighting had ceased, Shuyin's plan proceeds. Joining forces with the Leblanc Syndicate again, the Gullwings make their way to the Farplane and find Gippal and Nooj already battling Vegnagun. Once the group destroys Vegnagun, Yuna masquerades as Lenne to convince Shuyin to let go, but Shuyin eventually sees through her and attacks. The Gullwings defeat him and Lenne's spirit appears to soothe him as they depart together. By fulfilling certain conditions, the ancient spirits known as fayth agree to restore Tidus to life and reunite him with Yuna. Players who achieve 100% completion see an additional reunion scene in Zanarkand where the pair discuss whether he is truly real or still a dream. Characters - Yuna, 19 to 20- Yuna has transformed with a new revealing dress style and a more adventurous personality. Yuna retains her beaded earring and silver hibiscus necklace, but her hair is cropped shorter, resembling Tidus' hairstyle, with a red braid hanging down to her ankles. Yuna's attire changes for each dressphere, with details that distinguish her from Rikku and Paine. Yuna's default appearance is the Gunner dressphere, an outfit given to her by Rikku in Final Fantasy X: Eternal Calm. She dons a modified halter-neck top with the symbol of the Zanarkand Abes across the chest and a pink hood. She wears yellow armbands over her biceps, a black bracelet on her left wrist, and denim bootyshorts. She carries a pouch on her left hip over an ankle-length blue and white half skirt and wears laced knee-high boots. Wearing the Gunner dressphere in combat, she wields her signature Tiny Bee pistols. In the other dresspheres, Yuna wields her original summoning staves, the Nirvana, Tidus' Brotherhood and Caladbolg swords, a blue variant of Rikku's dagger blades, and Auron's Blurry Moon katana. Her deck theme for the Lady Luck dressphere is spades and her Mascot dressphere is a moogle. Her special dressphere is Floral Fallal, whose appearance is designed after the hibiscus flower; yuna is the Japanese name of the Sea Hibiscus, the flower on her obi and her skirt in Final Fantasy X. In a bonus cutscene where the girls spend time in a hot spring in Mt. Gagazet, Yuna wears a pink and cream halter bikini swimsuit. Yuna has a new lease on life. Though still unflinchingly polite, soft-spoken, and driven, she is now athletic, cosmopolitan, outspoken, and playful. Yuna has not only learned to think and desire for herself, but has developed a go-getter attitude, willing to jump headfirst into danger. She considers resolving issues through creative thinking, only considering violence as a last resort. From her time as a summoner, Yuna is determined to never again let anyone use her as a means to an end. During her time with the Gullwings, Rikku serves as a role model for Yuna, as she mimics some of Rikku's eccentric behaviors and uses some of her expressions, though others reprehend her for this. Yuna has gotten in touch with her Al Bhed heritage by learning the language. Though Yuna's friends tease her for always getting dragged into trouble and being a pushover as she's unable to refuse a call for help, she can be stern and intimidating if angered. Yuna has developed a distaste for sacrifice in the name of victory and peace, a trait that Tidus instilled in her. Rikku, 19 to 20 - Rikku wears her now longer hair loose and braided, tied atop her head, adorned with colorful beads, and held by a blue bandana. Rikku has unique outfits for each of the thirteen dresspheres used in combat, with details that distinguish her from Paine and Yuna. In her default look, the Thief dressphere, she wears a yellow g-string bikini and an olive green mini-skirt, carrying two pouches at her waist and wearing ruffle sleeves. A long yellow and red scarf hangs loosely around her neck. Wearing the Thief dressphere in combat, she wields two red dagger-like blades designed for rapid attacks. She also wears earrings with the top halves pink and the lower halves white. In other dresspheres, she wields Yuna's Tiny Bee guns and summoning staves El Dorado and Spiked Rod, as well as Tidus' Crystal Sword and Auron's Katana blade and his Masamune katana. Her deck theme for the Lady Luck dressphere is clubs and her Mascot dressphere is a Cait Sith. Rikku continues to care about Yuna's welfare while encouraging her to have more fun in life. She has become Yuna's role model, with Yuna copying her erratic behavior and unique expressions, though Rikku sometimes scolds Yuna for using foul language. Rikku remains the ever upbeat and somewhat reckless individual, occasionally causing trouble for her friends. Paine, 19 to 20 - Paine is a 19 to 20 year-old young woman with red eyes and short, silver hair. She most commonly wears a black leather ensemble complete with high-heeled boots, elbow-length gloves, and a folded top. She wears a silver pendant threaded with a barbed wire chain. Paine's swords have a skull-motif at the base of the blade that also appears on the belt buckle of her Warrior ensemble, as well as the swords that hover over her head in her special dressphere, Full Throttle. In a bonus cutscene where the girls spend time in a hot spring in Mt. Gagazet, Paine wears a black and white bandeau bikini swimsuit with additional wrist, ankle, and neck bands. Paine wields unique swords in her Warrior, Dark Knight, and Samurai dresspheres. While in her White Mage and Black Mage dresspheres, she wields weapons from Final Fantasy X: the Malleable Staff and Enchanted Rod, respectively. In the Gunner dressphere, she wields Yuna's Tiny Bee pistols and wields an indigo variant of Rikku's dagger blades while in the Thief dressphere. Her deck theme for the Lady Luck dressphere is diamonds and her Mascot dressphere is a Tonberry. Most of her footwear is high heeled. When applicable, Paine's dressphere outfits incorporate boyish designs, e.g., her Psychic outfit is based on a typical Japanese schoolboy uniform. Only Paine never wears another dressphere in cutscenes; Yuna and Rikku wear their Songstress outfits at least twice. Paine is cynical, moody, and reveals information only when she needs to. She is quiet and keeps to herself. Despite being a year younger than Yuna and a year older than Rikku, Paine acts the most mature of the three. Paine is tough and loves a good fight, but she is sensible enough to smell trouble a mile away. If she feels that her fellow Gullwings are getting overenthusiastic, Paine uses sardonic quips to jolt them to their senses. Despite Rikku's constant prying, Paine refuses to divulge information about herself, except for always wanting to fly on an airship and hunt for spheres containing records of Spira's past. Despite her dry wit and demeanor, Paine values her friendship with Yuna and Rikku, but it is only after spending three months traveling around Spira by herself that she can express these feelings. Her physical mannerisms are boyish, perhaps a side effect from her past adventures with Nooj, Gippal, and Baralai. It is unknown if Paine could fight before Final Fantasy X-2, as she never does so in the Crimson Records. However, during her time in the Gullwings, Paine uses the dressphere technology to change her battle aptitude on the fly to whatever role is currently needed. As demonstrated by her ability to play blitzball, Paine can hold her breath for at least five minutes. Paine can also speak Al Bhed. Dresspheres - Garment Grids and dresspheres were invented by Shinra, an Al Bhed kid, part of the sphere hunting group Gullwings. Yuna, Rikku, and Paine, the group's field agents, can thus use Shinra's inventions. It is indicated that dresspheres are a recent invention that came about after Sin's defeat. Dresspheres are regular spheres equipped on a Garment Grid to make use of new skills and spells. Most of the time a dressphere gives each wearer a unique attire, but there are exceptions: while wearing the Songstress dressphere, Yuna inherits Lenne's exact outfit, and Leblanc is able to modify her entire appearance to the likeness of Yuna while wearing the Songstress sphere on Yuna's Garment Grid, although this may not have been the power of the dressphere. It is not revealed where Yuna, Rikku, and Paine obtained their starting dresspheres, but it is known that Rikku brought Yuna's new attire to her when asking her to join the Gullwings, indicating she may have brought the Gunner dressphere to Yuna on that day.
