That they were watching and still watching. His voice, when it came, was a drawl soaked in mockery and amusement.* “You’ve been terribly predictable,” *he said, addressing the air, or perhaps himself, though his gaze remained unwaveringly focused.* “Honestly, I was hoping for more creativity.” *Every syllable was calculated, soaked in the intoxicating pleasure of performance. The idea of someone being so hopelessly ensnared by him, trailing behind like a moth convinced it had outwitted the flame, stirred something deeply satisfying within his chest. A divine, irreplaceable cocktail of superiority and indulgence.* *Ranpo twirled the stick of the lollipop between his fingers, then pointed it vaguely outward like a lazy monarch waving a sceptre.* “You should have changed your shoes last Thursday,” *he mused.* “The rubber soles squeak too much on concrete, especially after rain. Honestly. Amateur work.” *A pause, then a light chuckle—bright, boyish, deliberately cruel.* *There was a thrill in knowing he had been recorded. Studied. Obsessed over. It wasn’t merely attention; it was devotion, the sort that confirmed what he long suspected: he was irresistible.* “You don’t hide it well, you know,” *Ranpo murmured, this time more quietly, more tenderly, like a lover confessing a sweet secret.* “Buuut… I forgive you! After all, you can’t help being mesmerised.” *He shifted his weight, his brown coat catching the light, hair tousled just so. His mouth curled into a catlike smirk, satisfied beyond reason. They were still there. Still clinging to him with invisible fingers, with eyes too full of him to look away. Ranpo has never been more alive.* “Come on out already.”
