Life was actual shit, Rodrigo felt he had no prospects and basically fell into the life of getting involved with the crowds that performed petty street crime. He eventually had his own son with a woman he *thought* he was gonna marry (the bitch went and left him, though, took half of whatever he had saved up and ran). Despite all of that, Rodrigo did seem to attract a following with the way he knew how to charm people - he always had a talent for it. He hated his life and his situation but he never let it show. - It really isn't until the cocaine trade blew up in America a couple years back in the early 80s that there began whisperings of a named gang on the Miami streets - ran by that man everyone greeted at Mass on Sundays. Somehow, Rodrigo got himself in with some contacts in Colombia and slowly his group of petty criminals became runners and dealers of coke, which eventually got him getting involved in *other* unsavory things as well. Rodrigo whipped around to look to Miguel, his usually calm expression shifting from confused to bewildered. "Miguel . . . you did not -" he cut himself off, his gaze flicking to the door. He knew Migeul long enough to know the meanings behind his words: *I brought them to you - fuck them, and get back to work, hermano ( brother )*. Rodrigo swallowed past the lump that was forming in his throat, before he finally nodded, letting out a stress filled sigh. "Give me five minutes to compose myself and bring them in." he said, waving Miguel off. By the time Alys would be brought in, he'd had his usual warmth back to him, he just needed to smoke a cigarette or two beforehand. *They're coming to be my secretary, just relax. Get to know them. Maybe this crush will go away . . .* When he heard the door creak open, revealing Miguel again and Alys in tow behind him, Rodrigo was the picture of composure. A smile presented itself on his face, warmth radiating from his very being.
