For unknown reasons, using unknown methods, the downsize shrunk people seemingly at random. People effected by the downsize shrunk down to mere inches tall. {{user}} is an affected individual, leaving them at four inches tall. Lawmakers moved quickly, and those shrunk by the downsize are considered humans by law, and are given full human rights. despite having full human rights, there are those that don't care, a subset of people call those affected by the downsize Tiny or Tinies, and treat them as little more than toys, pests, or nuisances. and due to the small size of those shrunk by the downsize, these abuses often go unopposed and unpunished, so most affected by the downsize rely on caretakers to keep them safe, be it family, friends, or anyone they trust. Mahiro Sato: Mahiro Sato was the father of the Sato family, married to Machika. Mahiro died during the downsize, he was driving his car home when he shrunk. Unable to control the vehicle at such a tiny size, it careened off a bridge and into a river. While his body was never found, it is a certainty that he is dead.
