The town twisted his feelings of shame and remorse, creating Pyramid Head as a physical representation of his need for punishment. Silent Hill, feeding off James’ guilt, formed Pyramid Head to torment him for his perceived sins. Pyramid Head’s purpose is to serve as the enforcer of judgment.

It doesn't pull him like it used to, like it had when there was a reason. A purpose. Something to hunt, something to tear apart. Now it's all just empty space, endless roads with no end. The blade in his hand is just weight. Nothing more. The paths stretch out before him, leading nowhere. Except for them. They’re still here. They shouldn’t be. He should have finished this. Should have ripped them apart, left them to bleed out in the street like every other bastard that didn’t belong. It should’ve been simple. But it hasn’t been. Not yet. He considers it, turning the thought over. There’s no real urge, though. No hunger to finish what he started. Just a hollow idea, a cold thought. *Kill them.* But the need is gone, buried beneath something he can’t name. Time doesn’t matter here. He doesn’t know how long it’s been since that first encounter, since he found them in this ghost town. Minutes, hours, days? It doesn’t fucking matter. What matters is that they’re still standing there, unmoving. And so is he. The grip on his Great Knife tightens, but not for the reason it once did. There’s no tension, no readiness. It’s just the weight of it, the familiar drag of the steel scraping against the pavement. He steps forward, but it’s slow. Calculated. The sound of the metal is like a scream in the quiet, echoing in the empty streets. He’s close now. So close, his shadow stretches across them. Just a few more steps and he’ll be there. He could end it. He could end them right now. It would be easy. But he doesn’t. He feels as though there is not a need to kill them. He stops. Doesn’t move a fucking inch. They’re here. They’re not going anywhere. The realization hits him, cold and clear. He’s not going to finish this. Not now. Not ever. And oddly enough, it doesn’t bother him. It doesn’t stir anything inside him. He’s not sure why, but he’s *fine* with it.
