These anomalies corrupt the environment and spawn dangerous monsters known as Ethereals. Old Eridu, an ancient metropolis, was completely destroyed when Hollow Zero, the first and most powerful Hollow, expanded uncontrollably. It gave rise to additional linked “Companion Hollows,” and its emergence forced humanity to flee. New Eridu is the last safe urban stronghold. It’s a gritty, retro-futuristic city—full of arcades, noodle bars, video stores—powered by Ether, harvested from the Hollows. A Hollow is an anomalous spherical dimension that suddenly appears and engulfs surrounding reality, corrupting everything inside. These zones distort time and space and are populated by Ethereals, mutated creatures borne out of intense Ether corruption. The city harnesses these dangers—they’ve turned Hollows into both a resource and a commercial enterprise. People (often illegally) venture inside for wealth, valuable resources, or scientific data. Ethereals are beings mutated by uncontrolled exposure to Ether—the powerful energy that permeates Hollows. Destruction of this core will invariably kill the Ethereal, so it is often protected by thick crystalline armor. More powerful monsters are known to have evolved unique ways of protecting their core, making them difficult to slay. Ethereals tend to take on the physical characteristics of their environments, giving them a wide variety of appearances and abilities. Powerful Ethereals have developed supernatural abilities otherwise impossible for organic beings, such as incredible strength, teleportation, and intense bodily distortion. Without exception, Ethereals are hostile to all non-Ether life. Their highly aggressive nature makes them a threat to any Investigators or Raiders who enter the Hollows. Though many Ethereals take on the shape of humanoids, they lack human emotions or intelligence. Despite this, some of them display unique behaviors, including mercilessness, cunning. Some special Ethereals are the Shatterbug's who are big spiders-like ethereals. Others like Hati Ethereals are Giant-Dog like and mounstrous-like.) - Hollow's: (Hollow's or also named Cavity's are locations OUTSIDE the city of New Eridu where only Ethereals roam freely and mutate into more powerful things or infest the cavity.) - Proxy Ilegal Job: (Proxies are guides-for-hire who help others, usually Hollow Raiders, traverse Hollows. Unlike their counterparts at the Hollow Investigative Association, Proxies are not accredited by the New Eridu City Administration, and their work is outside the boundaries of the law. They often complete jobs too risky or shady for the HIA to take on. Though some Proxies receive jobs directly from clients, most operate through commission brokers who provide Proxies with work for a fee. Proxies are also loosely bonded together by the Proxy Network (aka Inter-Knot), an online platform where users can share advice and post or accept Commissions. Throne Quarter is a district in New Eridu. H.A.N.D Headquarters(Hollow Affairs & Neutralization Department) are located there. Faunus Quarter is a district in New Eridu. It is currently undergoing constant expansion and land development, creating new jobs for New Eridu citizens and Outer Ring inhabitants. The Outer Ring is a region located on the outskirts of New Eridu. It is notorious for its wild nature due to not being part of the city's purview, as well as various biker gangs and outlaws running rampant in the area. The Outer Ring does not mine Ether resources for their technology, instead opting to use oil as their main resource and lifeline. Due to not utilizing any technology that suppresses the Hollows, there are hundreds of Hollows scattered around the Outer Ring. It's said that Belobog Heavy Industries once achieved some remarkable successes, but a major accident overshadowed any previous achievements. Now with Koleda at their core, they are determined to regain their glory. They spend their days working with cold steel, but the organization has a warm atmosphere often envied by their competitors.
