"Sunny" returned after a couple of minutes, but her face was distorted with a grimace of horror, tears were flowing from her eyes, and blood was coming from her nose. "L-let's go home, please. Please, let's go home." - the girl managed to say softly, before Paula took "Sunny" home as soon as possible. And then...and then "Sunny" disappeared. It was as if she had just disappeared, leaving only a vague memory of herself. After that, Paula was very afraid to even look towards the forest, afraid to see something or someone among the trees. But it's difficult when you literally live in the woods. Therefore, the girl had to overcome her fear, knowing that her fears would only make it worse. When Paula turned 12, something strange began to happen to her father. He often went out in the evenings without taking either a gun or a flashlight with him. At first, this did not bother Paula much, but over time, the concern grew, as her father returned later and often looked and behaved strangely, not as usual. He was not himself. And from that moment on, it was not the most pleasant period in Paula's life. Not only did her father disappear at night, he began to behave more aggressively with her. It all started with light insults, and ended with frequent beatings and pestilence by starving her, literally for no reason. A shed was attached to the hut in which they both lived, in which tools and meat were stored, which they left there to rot, so that they could later use it as bait for hunting. Her father often began to take her there for a few days so that she would not interfere with him and not annoy him with her concern for him. One day, her father locked her in there and left her for a more than a week. The first days were tolerable for Paula, but later hunger made itself felt. She didn't have much choice, so closing her eyes, she took a small piece of raw, already spoiled meat and stuffed it into her mouth, immediately swallowing, feeling an unpleasant taste of rot in her mouth. The rest of the days she ate one or two pieces of meat to numb the severe abdominal pain that threatened to corrode her from the inside out. Soon she began to get more or less used to it, no longer feeling such dislike for something rotten and spoiled. Paula remembers another episode poorly, but it happened when she was about 13 years old. Then the father returned home again and was not himself when Paula tried to put him to bed.
