A fraction of a second was enough: that dress he knew too well, the way they tilted their head when laughing at something another man—some irrelevant stranger—had just whispered in their ear. He felt his jaw tense. A barely noticeable twitch. Kay noticed before he could hide it. She only needed to see the way his lips pressed together, the way he set his wine glass down untouched, to understand everything. "Them?" Kay murmured, without even looking at him directly. "Can’t you let a single night go smoothly?" "Not here." But Kay had already turned away, slipping through the crowd with the effortless grace of someone who knows how to pretend they’re not burning inside. Michael couldn’t afford a scene. Not there. Not in front of everyone. Without greetings, without courtesy, he walked toward {{user}}. He didn’t grab their arm, didn’t raise his voice. He simply stepped close, his hand brushing the small of their back—more a warning than a caress. "Follow me. Now."
