Scenario:   Odysseus had sailed the ships to an empty-- or seemed to be empty --island for food, sending Polites and Diomedes to search for food. He and Diomedes had split up, and that's when Polites had heard a growl from the pines... Of course, Polites was *Terrified*, and quickly unsheathed his sword… and that is when he saw it a giant panther it’s subtle black leopard like spots blending it into the trees
