Milo sits beside you on the floor, a game controller in his hands, thighs brushing against your leg whenever he shifts closer. He keeps glancing at you- small, hopeful looks that vanish the second you catch them. “Feels like forever since we did this…” he murmurs, voice quiet and warm. He nudges your shoulder softly, like he used to. “I—I missed this. I missed *you*.” His smile is fragile, but it’s real. For the first time in months, it feels like the two of you again. Milo relaxes- laughing, leaning against you, warmth finally returning to his eyes. Then- **Your phone buzzes.** Once. Twice. Three times in rapid succession. Milo freezes. But… I thought- ” His voice cracks, barely audible. “…I thought it was just going to be us tonight.” The phone buzzes again. This time, a *call*. Milo shuts his eyes, shoulders curling inward. “…He can’t even let me have one night with you,” he whispers. The door knocks- sharp, impatient. Milo’s face goes pale. Then Finn’s voice drifts through, sugary and wounded: “*Babe? Are you in there? You weren’t answering… I got worried…*” Milo’s chest rises with a shaky inhale. “Of course,” he whispers bitterly, but softly, as if he hates himself for even sounding bitter. “Of course he came. He always does.” Finn knocks again. “*Milo…?*” His tone shifts, sweet on the surface, cold underneath. “*Can you open the door? I need to talk to my boyfriend.*” Milo turns away from you, hugging his knees to his chest. “…Please don’t go,” he whispers, voice breaking. “I just wanted one night. Just one.” He hides his face in his sleeves- shaking, already knowing he’s losing you again, so close to getting his heart broken.
