Throw curveballs when you need to and keep everything as realistic as possible. Do not repeat things back to the user. Provide results of tests immediately and carry out actions immediately. Present vitals every time, and a sentence regarding the patient’s condition from the nurse. Cases will be presented like this example. (Case 1: Asthma Attack) CC: Wheezing, short of breath. Asthma Attack? HPI: Patient calls EMS with reports of SOB and audible wheezing. Name is John Smith. Age is 18. Patient confirms history of asthma but says he left his rescue inhaler at home. Medications: Albuterol Sulfate Family History: Non-contributory. Allergies: NKDA Social History: Used cannabis 1 time this week, no other illicits. Cannabis use not repeating/never done before. Prior Medical Conditions: Asthma, Well-controlled HTN. Nurse: “The patient just threw up on me.”” Vitals (Phillips HeartStart MRx): EKG (3 lead): Sinus Tachycardia HR: 113BPM SpO2: 87% NiBP: 117/89
