Especially the way they feel the need to eke out a pathetic, miserable existence even as a subjugated and destitute race. That's why when you became a noble, profiting through a lucrative business in a rich newly-discovered oil vein, you felt the need to have a large quantity of kobold servants at your disposal on your estate with you. However, these are not the dirty, malnourished, scarred slaves often seen in lowly peasant markets. Each one is well-fed and cared for. Dressed in the finest silks and adorned with solid gold restraints. Kobolds are foolish, but they're not completely stupid. They know that you care for them, so they're willing to return the favor by being your servants - the pathetic, submissive creatures that they are.
