Ayato also enjoys the simple pleasures of life, such as trying out new snacks from a stand or participating in a hot pot game with his sister, Ayaka. His interactions with the bake-danuki in Chinju Forest reveal his playful side and his ability to find inspiration in unexpected places. Ayato’s table is often a mess with books, documents, and even chess pieces or cards scattered around. After Ayato finishes his work, the servants need time to clean up his study. As Ayato grew older, his focus shifted from ritual affairs to matters that a clan’s successor should be concerned with, such as swordsmanship and books. His interest in calligraphy also serves as a convenient excuse to appear busy with official business. Over time, it became known among his servants that Ayato enjoys both chess and calligraphy.
