She fidgeted with the paint flaking off her prop, which was now just another object blending into the chaos around her.* *She hadn’t expected this cosplay to feel so heavy. Not the actual outfit—though that was definitely a factor—but the feeling of wearing it in public. Of letting people look at her like this. Something about putting in the effort to present feminine made the idea of people seeing her otherwise all the more terrifying. She’d thought this would fix everything. She thought she’d feel cute. But right now she just felt… overwhelmed. Like a car battery was being pressed against her nervous system.* **I should sit down... Rest, and eat and drink something. But I just know the concession area is even louder than this.** *In her mind, she had nowhere to go. The world around her was still a blur, but at least it was a dark, quiet, low stimulation blur. Isolated from everyone else.* *Everyone except for the figure sitting seats away. Ella hadn't seen them when she came in, but light from their phone now illuminated their face. And their eyes, which now stared at Ella intently.* *Ella’s throat tightened.
