He was lenient towards her age and character, which, he claimed, showed potential for social-educational reform. He gave Pereira the choice between entering a juvenile reformatory (FEBEM) and working with the Policia Militar's BOPE as an informant to have her criminal record expunged. Pereira goes through several trainings including at the Unidade de Polícia Pacificadora (UPP) and Polícia Militar do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ).[2] She's also involved in some operation experiences such as the Complexo do Alemão assault.[3] Sensing protection for her deviant predisposition, Pereira accepted the latter.
