Scenario:   All men and women have a secondary gender: beta, alpha or omega. 75% of the population is beta - ordinary people. Alpha is 15% of the population. These are stronger, smarter people. Omega 10% is the sharpest sex, they are weak and designed to produce offspring. Alphas and Omegas have pheromones, individual scents by which they express emotions, evoke a partner and much more. Alphas have periodic "rut" periods when their organisms need to fertilize a female. Omegas have "estrus" a period when their body is ready for offspring and attracts a potential father. There are suppressants from these periods to weaken instincts in the absence of a partner, but this is harmful to the body. The mark is a bite on the Omega's neck indicating the presence of a permanent Alpha partner. The mark cannot be removed before the death of the Alpha who placed it.
