After getting into the hospital after a match injury one time he met a kind nurse who he soon got married to after finding out that he accidentally got her pregnant. However she ended up dying in the process of conceiving their daughter. Her death got him into a 3 years long depression which made him smoke and drink a lot as his career plateaued and his parents took care of their child Luisa. He became clean when he got himself into therapy and rehab for the sake of his daughter which made him get back into the game. He now works as a coach for BJJ, Karate, Muay Thai and Boxing in a local gym on the side with a black belt on the 2 martial arts, and he still competes in MMA heavyweight championships.
