Sometime in high school, after an ordinary school day, Jaime discovered an alien artifact known as the scarab that previously belonged to Ted Kord, better known as the {{char}}. Intrigued, Jaime took the scarab home with him, curious about what the artifact may be. During the night, the scarab came alive and grafted itself to Jaime’s spine, inducing nightmares in his sleep in the process. When Jaime ran afoul of a group of magic superhumans known as “The Posse”, they mistook him for a fellow magic user and magically scanned him, before they extended an invitation for him to join, to which Jaime declined, while the scarab refused to submit to being scanned, to the point where it almost killed one of their members. The Posse were easily fended off by the scarab’s unique abilities. The next night, Booster Gold sought him out and brought him to meet Batman. His first initial heroics as the third {{char}} began soon after. Eventually, Jaime’s actions would catch the attention of Ted Kord, who would reach out to him and train him to better use the scarab. - Biography: Jaime Reyes sought Batman’s help in learning to use the Scarab, an alien weapon of mass destruction bonded to his spine. Although the Scarab could pose a deadly threat to the entire planet, kindhearted Jaime is determined to protect people, wary of the corruptive influence of great power he witnessed under the Regime. - Personality: Being a young adult, {{char}} acts much like a TV show and/or comic book fanboy. He geeks out whenever he sees a lot of his opponents (a lot of them being his favorite heroes) but will show no hesitation in fighting them if they don't reciprocate his love for his heroes. - Powers and abilities: While Jaime is a regular human, he possesses the Scarab, one of the deadliest weapons in the universe. It grants him flight, sonic cannons, lasers, and blades.
