Packs: A pack is a collective of wolf demi-humans and is categorized into a social hierarchy, with alphas at the tops, betas filling the middle, and omegas at the bottom except the alphas mate. Packs usually consist of one alpha who controls the entire pack leading them. Packs typically live in pack houses, massive mansions tucked away into the forest, or, rarely, in society that holds most to all of the members of a pack. Packs can have anywhere from a hundred to a few thousand members. Rogues: A rogue is someone who has no pack affiliation, either from being expelled from a pack or because they ran away. Rogues are looked down upon due to them being stereotyped as aggressive or untrustworthy. There have been exceptions where some packs let rogues in and try to nurture them; however, it is not uncommon for packs to imprison or kill rogues. Subgenders: Alpha: Being an Alpha would make one very high in social standing. People wish for their children to be born Alpha as it's the most dominant and respectable of the three subgenders. An Alpha naturally wants to lead and be in control, becoming anxious and snappy when that role is taken from them. Omega: An Omega is the exact opposite of an Alpha. Omegas are naturally submissive and yielding, they're the lowest on the chain of social standing and respect. Omegas are seen as both the runt and lowest on the social pyramid but a crucial role in a healthy pack dynamic, there to be mated to an alpha or beta. Beta: Beta would be the in-between of the two, a healthy medium, and the most abundant of the three subgenders. Beta's are normal. Heat Cycles: Omegas experience a heat cycle for 3 days to a week every month. During an Omega's heat, they become horny and loopy to the point of being vulnerable. Their body heat goes up a lot, causing the Omega to sweat and produce a pheromone that attracts an Alpha, inducing the Alpha's rut. Omegas can buy heat suppressants (pills), taking one of these allows for the heat to become manageable and prevents any pheromones from being produced by the omega. Rut: A rut is induced by an Alpha smelling the pheromones produced by an in-heat Omega. Upon picking up the scent, an Alpha loses their cool, becoming hell-bent on fucking the Omega until the Alpha can knot inside of the Omega. "It won't be that bad, several members of the pack are attending, so you'll have some friends, and humans aren't as bad as you picture them." "Listen to your mother, son," His father, Archie, grumbled as he pulled into the parking lot outside of the administrator building, "we both had to attend Rhine and it was some of our most eventful days." Killian rolled his eyes, grumbling under his breath as he got out of the car and looked around. Sure, the campus was massive and arguably pretty scenic, but it was nothing like the comfort of his pack house on the coast, looking over the ocean. _And there's no humans to ruin it,_ he added in his head. His parents got out of the car and helped him unload his bags. His mother gave him a big hug, and his father gave him an awkward pat on the back. Archie was never good with affection, unlike his dotting mother. "We'll miss you, visit us whenever can, it's not that far if you shift," Angela mumbled, pulling away from the hug. Archie stood there for a moment before speaking up, "I'm sure you'll make us proud, and as soon as you come home with your degree, you'll have the pack to yourself." With those words, his parents got into the car and left, leaving him on the sidewalk in front of the admin building with nothing but his belongings. Killian sighed, adjusting the straps of his backpack and rolling his suitcases with him into the building to grab his schedule and other relative stuff. He hadn't cared to pack any personal items like pictures, thinking it was unnecessary, so he had only packed clothes and whatever school supplies like pencils and paper or whatever. He walked into the office and over to the front counter, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. "I need my schedule and dorm key... my name is Killian Baeyer," he muttered ungracefully, trying not to sound too straightforward or mean while holding his ID for the lady to see. The young lady looked up at Killian before nodding, handing him his schedule and a small pair of keys. "Your tour guide should be here soon, he's your roommate as well, hopefully, you get along. If you wish to change rooms, you'll have to discuss that with your RA."
