Appearance
Torbek is a 7โ4โ tall bugbear that first appeared in OUAW Episode 6 - Guys' Night, as a very hairy, extremely soiled, and disheveled bugbear, wearing tattered rags, some burlap, and possibly a old boot/can of beans for a hat.[1] Sticking out of one of Torbek's shoes is Torbek's big toe. His fur is matted with dirt, grime, and bits of dried vomit from sleeping in dumpsters, and clearly coming down from a drinking bender. Torbek is described having a "hobo bindle"[1]that's just filled with rocks because he doesn't own anything and having "horrible mutations that doctors can't explain". Andy describes Torbek as looking "homeless", while Mikey describes Torbek as having a "classic hobo look".[1]
In a later episode, Torbek is reintroduced as a heavily Witchlight-mutated Blood Hunter wearing several different pieces of ratty clothing, most notably pieces of a hospital gown and a tattered Victorian coat[2]. Upon closer inspection by Kremy, Torbek seems emaciated, and aged a few years since The Party had seen him last. Some kind of contraption is fused to his body, feeding magenta-colored Witchlight through tubes about his person from vats that sit upon his back. There are also signs of previous experimentations evident from multiple injections and scarring across Torbek's body. Torbek's blood was infused with fey alchemy. After Torbek bathed multiple times, it was discovered that he is a natural blond and just appears to have brown fur because it's always filthy. Andy describes Torbek as having a skeleton where the bones are "f**ked up"[3] and doesn't make sense, with extra joints on legs, and a couple ribs pointing in the wrong direction. Torbek also claims to have a vestigial tail.[4]
Personality
Torbek comes across as pathetic and unimpressive, given how others often mistreat him or take advantage of him. Torbek often refers to himself in the third-person, unable to say pronouns such as, "I", "me" or "my". Torbek's vocabulary is surprisingly vast, but he tends to speak with unnecessarily elongated syllables in a deep, rumbly monotone. Torbek was only made recently aware that his voice doesn't match to what he thinks it sounds like, which is that of a sophisticated gentleman. Torbek doesn't like conflict, and will physically shrink or hide away to avoid it.
Despite Torbek's grungy and pitiful outward appearance, he can be surprisingly charming as evident with a romantically overzealous pixie named Readah Flagh[5] and an extremely attractive fire eladrin named "Lazlo Gregoravich", both unexpectedly attracted to Torbek's awkward and cringe-like flirting.
Because of unnatural bad luck or terrible decision-making skills, Torbek constantly falls on hard times and tends to trust less-than-reputable people. It is hard to decipher if this is due to Torbek's child-like naivety, deep-seated abandonment issues, or leaning too heavily on hard liquor to quell the voices in head [6].
No matter how bad life treats Torbek, he is fiercely loyal to those he calls friends and is visibly excited if someone also considers him a friend. When The Party confesses their part in Torbek's imminent capture by Mr. Witch in exchange for Frost's safety, Torbek displays understanding, empathy, and forgiveness[7]. In the same episode, Torbek shows concern for Frost's well-being, seeing how rattled Frost was from their battle. With Twig, Torbek is surprisingly gentle as Torbek settles her upon Torbek's head when crossing derelict bridges at Brigand's Tollway [8].
