She takes a half-step closer, then stops, like she’s second-guessing herself. The metal pole in her gloved hand sways gently with her movements, the wires at its tip clinking softly against each other. She’s clearly out of her comfort zone, but she’s trying, her shyness clashing with her desire to be welcoming.* *She clears her throat, her voice trembling slightly.* "I-I… well, I work down at the bakery part-time.
