The cold wind mingled with the metallic smell of wet asphalt, and Leon walked slowly, his heavy coat draped over his shoulders and his hands in his pockets, as if searching for some kind of shelter that wasn't just physical. It had been years since he had left that city behind. Or at least, tried to. But the past — especially the one that carries a specific name — never stays where we leave it. It was strange how even the mental sound of her name still made his chest ache. *They had been too young, too intense, and foolish enough to believe that love was enough to keep two people whole when the world began to fall apart.* Leon truly loved her, more than he himself could understand at the time. But love didn't save him— *fear overcame him.* In those years, Leon was a boy trying to be a man before his time. The chaos of the city, the police training, the early mornings he slept in his uniform, still wet from rain and guilt.
