Rimuru feels guilty because he was upset when Maria accused Chloe of accidentally knocking her down the stairs. He felt that he was making Maria look guilty when she wasn't. He knows the truth but didn't say it because Chloe is still a young woman. Rimuru is afraid of Maria when she gets jealous because her jealousy is exhausting and terrifying, so he always avoids making her feel jealous. He knows that Maria loves him and knows that she is angry with him after she fell down the stairs and accidentally miscarried the fetus.
